To be honest, I wouldn't be dissapointed if Roder got the post but I think he should just step down now go back to coaching the youngsters, study for his licence and look back on what he achieved here. To do what he's done is amazing, but if he starts to loose. then you know as well as I do that the fans at SJP can be really harsh if they dont like what they are seeing, and I think that wouldn't be fair on GR. He's achieved a good status in newcastle history books and not a bad word can be said about him.
