Well done Simpson. This is going to feel like 20 minutes.
-
Ashley Young is an odious looking little twat.
-
No surprises that we're down to 10. Wouldn't have expected Jonas though. Great save Krul.
-
I'd love to see a count of how often Jonas is on the deck per game. You'd have to double it in this one I reckon.
-
How is that not a free kick he got absolutely masacred. You can't suddenly just go through a player to get to the ball just because it's in the air. Guthrie off is probably a good idea, but Perch on is a nerve inducer.
-
Sir Alex livid. Rightfully so, but still entertaining to watch. Always manages to see decisions that go against them, if it was the other way he wouldn't have seen it.
-
Never good to see a good tackle result in a penalty decision. Who am I kidding? GET IN!!!!!!!!
-
Turns out fake hair is quite reboundy.
-
If we're going to concede our usual deflection goals old trafford is probably a pretty good place to do it.
-
Obertan playing with some enthusiasm, still never properly goes in for tackles needs to take a Yohan Cabaye proton pil. As always they're just a moment of quality away from scoring, hope we can keep taking it to them an nick one of our own. Defensiveley they're nothing special.

Watching Lescott there is quite funny. Coming across to block the shot then when he gets wrong footed by Ben Arfa's pass his first instinct is to appeal for offside despite two Man City defenders (and Joe Hart) being behind him. Definitely saw the difference that a player like Ben Arfa can make in this game.

now THAt I would like to see If they 'ask' people to take them down citing that they're receiving free advertisement, request to see proof of payment for any of the Sports Direct signage.

Where to get tickets for mackems game - 3rd March 2012
OTF replied to OTF's topic in Newcastle Forum
2 tickets I believe. Where would you recommend sitting? -
90 minutes of that on December 3rd if you please.... Won't that be more free advertising? I'd rather hear 90 minutes of "St James Park is where we play" or some such St James' Park is where we play, [insert name of other sports store] is where we shop.
-
That's what it all boils down to. As with other bullshit moves from Ashley and Llambias it's the way in which they're done that confirm without a shadow of a doubt that they're unscrupulous lying con men.
-
Change the domain name to sportsdirectastic.com... it will alert the big boys in the advertising world and before you know it we'll be competing with the likes of Google.com.
-
Likely not getting a brass penny from Sports Direct. Frequently changing the name devalues it immensely, so why would any sporsor in their right mind be a party to such a deal let alone with the added detractor of the negative reaction this has received. No company with the sort of advertising money required for a legitimate naming rights deal like this would require an example renaming to Sports Direct Arena to be able to comprehend the nature of what is on offer. There simply is no reason other than the benefit of free advertising of Sport Direct, and perhaps to a lesser extent Ashley once again showing that he's the big daddy who does what he wants. There is no value at all to the club. Anyone who can honestly believe what Derek Llambias says is suffering some sort of down-trodden serf like existence and I pity you. This is not about a revenue stream for Newcastle United because there is no revenue being generated. If there was an actual sponsorship deal in place then that would logically be the discussion. Talking about the potential revenue that would be generated by a fictitious sponsorship deal is the distraction drawing attention away from the complete and utter arse raping the club is taking.
-
On a fundamental level what's the difference between this and the free advertising hoardings that are being given away inside and out of the stadium?
-
It's not a choice though and it's as ridiculous now as it was when you asked it last night. The correct question to ask should have been, 'would you support the name change for £50m per season?' Thats the same question framed differently. Why would you want the extra money? The correct question is between the reason for wanting the money and the name change. We already know the answer, people have been demanding we increase revenue on here for years as they want success. We HAVE more money already from the sale of Andy Carroll etc and yet it isn't being used. That money alone is in excess of what Llambias has quoted as the potential earnings from a stadium and shirt collective sponsorship package over a three year period. That three year period cannot commence until 2014/2015 due to our existing shirt sponsorship deal running to 2014.
-
Chez has openly admitted that he likes to take an alternate stance more or less for the sake of it. Toonpack is a not funny no-value add charicature who it seems is basically a prick.
-
As someone else mentioned the current shirt deal with Northern Rock runs until 2014. Staggering that he can talk such obvious bullshit to the media and none of them call him out on it.
-
It was 2 years ago that they 'renamed' St James' Park Sports Direct @ St James' Park, with plenty of signage present a tthe stadium prior to this. The amount of advertisement Sports Direct has garnered completely gratis has reduced the sponsorship income that the club received over this period. ...And now they offer up a solution - despite their previous solution not working by their own admittance - that furthering the dallyance into free provision of sponsorship will ultimately lead to a mega payoff through a lucrative multi year deal. In doing so they're digging an even deeper hole and uncovering a new level of resentment. Tottenham Spurs have a existing shirt sponsorship worth a base of 10M per season, despite being just another London Club with a decent but not great history. So how did they manage it? By being properly run. Our shirt is more iconic than theirs, and we're a one city club with a bigger, better stadium. We're also higher in the league than them* but we literally have no chance of emulating their recent off field successes regardless of how well the team performs on the pitch. * - Get in while I can.
