  1. Don't know about body breaking down but a huge direct kick to the shin is a pretty good way to "legally" slow an opposing player down. Miley should absolutely be played more, he's a different player but certainly doesn't turn the ball over as frequently as 2025 Joelinton. It's also Miley's lack of pace and his inability to play in wide areas that sees Howe stick with Joelinton, and really Miley has to compete with Bruno and Tonali for a spot.
  2. Not necessarily this exact team, but a change in formation is due to better allow width but with some inherent protection of our defense. Frees up some space in the centee with Wolte able to feed back to Tonali or Bruno, out to Barnes or Joelinton or through to Gordon (Barnes or Elanga could also be options at the top prior to Wissa’s return). We don't really have an option to play on the right of midfield who can defend, so that could be Murphy or Barnes or Elange there depending on who you play up front. I also think that Miley could feature against City, but don't know how you fit him into this side. There's enough time and motivation to try something new and unexpected. It would be great to have Livramento back obviously.
  3. Thiaw can play at RB and Trippier at LB. That said Trippier had a poor game turning the ball over way too much. Our fullbacks get exposed because our wide men are all lightweights who couldn't tackle a 10 year old.
  4. The case for this goes out the window when we conceded from a long throw will all of our tall players out there.
  5. It does rely on wingers making runs and also one of the midfield three continually coming into the box. Playing with three in the middle facilitates winhers being able to play further up the pitch (less so with Burn and Trippier as FBs). A ball to Wolte, a one touch pass back whilst pulling a defender out opens up space, then it's up to the wingers to run into that space and the midfielder who Wolte has passed back to to play the through ball which they just don't seem to do, if they did then the additional central midfielder coming into the box is the one who gets on the end of the cross/cut back and Wolte has also has time to turn around and pick up scraps.
  6. I hope someone asks him the question as plain as day - Why did you leave Dan Burn out there when he was on a yellow and continually being terrorised, and even more so after he got away with what was a clear penalty? I'm genuinely interested in how he would answer that.
  7. We're only as strong as our weakest component. I love BDB but he was finished as a fullback last season. We don't really have a style in attack at the moment, so I don't think you can really say that Woltemade doesn't suit it. But I will grant that it can get too crowded in the middle when you have him, Bruno, Tonali and Joelinton.
  8. To say something is not right is an understatement. Unlucky for Thiaw there, Botman fell asleep.
  9. He did this last season with Burn as well. It's worse than a blind spot. Terrorised all game, on a yellow, gets away with a blatant penalty and still he keeps him on. It's a monumental fuck up whichever way you look at it. When we play with Burn at LB every team we play attacks down our left side, I wonder why, just can't figure it out, complete mystery. I've said it before but if Howe wants Burn in the team it has to be at CB and nowhere else.
  10. This is on the level of self sabotage. Probably the most frustrating moment under Howe.
  11. Fucking dumb shit from Howe. No excuse for that, just plain and utter stupidity.
  12. Let's get Burn off please, he's clearly fucking in a state of panic whenever Whatsisname has the ball.
