  1. The article is a bit ambiguous to be fair; it says 1 in 12 exams were marked with an A*. You need to get 6 A*s in a module to get an A* overall, suggesting to me 1 in 72 are getting A* grades, which is a bit different. It's still an excellent achievement, takes a lot of self discipline. Don't disgree about grade inflation however.
  2. Kevin, you can leave Politics off your UCAS form (as you've failed it so don't have a qualification in it), if you do it then I'd recommend you do three A levels next year, as unis won't make an offer based on two grades.
  3. An A* is a pretty decent achievement to be fair, you have to get high A's in every single module of your subject. I think the biggest cause of grade inflation is allowing unlimited retakes.
  4. No they can't. Don't argue with me because you have no idea what you're talking about. Accept defeat and leave the thread. Thanks. Did you miss the part where Dan said he's working for UCAS? I shouldn't be an arse to him Kevin, you might need his help in 12 months time. You couldn't even get into most clearing courses with his results to be honest, he'll be lucky if he gets consiered by Thames Valley.
  5. I am No they can't. Don't argue with me because you have no idea what you're talking about. Accept defeat and leave the thread. Thanks. You're an absolute muppet- no wonder you got such shit results. A U in politics? You could have had a shit on the paper and still passed you knacker.
  6. Remarks can go up as well as down you know.
  7. For the record, you don't have to put U grades on your UCAS form, but you can only pull it off if you're doing three other subjects.
  8. Working on the Clearing hotline tomorrow for results day- tears ahoy!
  9. I only know the manager, i know nobody elseeeeeeeeeeeeeee Did you not meet anyone else on your first shift? Just go as normal and say 'Who I do report to?'
  10. Fucking hell man Kevin, how do you get dressed in the morning? Who's below the manager- is there not an assistant or a shift supervisor or something?
  11. You're not on commission, you bender! You can't fucking talk after your windows sale patter on here a few years ago. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...sales&st=80 'You Buy Cheap, You Buy Twice'

  13. Saving Private Ryan- love it. Brilliantly shot and acted.
  14. If the uni says they want a B then that's what they want- the UCAS guidance is just for general uni applications.
  15. If anything, I thought the film needed less Juno. I think she's a great actress (Hard Candy is one of my favourite films).Would have made more sense to me for the protaganist to be the 'outsider' looking in on this strange new world but I seem to be in a minority there.
  16. Saw Inception tonight and thought it was fairly average. I felt like all of the characters were a bit underdeveloped- think it would have been interesting to have given more time to Ariande and have her question the ethics of what she was doing (she went along with it a bit easily for my liking seeing as she's meant to be an innocent uni student). Also, it went a bit action movie for me towards the end, would have preferred to have seen a bit more dialogue, although the effects were cool. I supposed it didn't really capture me in the same way that TS3 did, which is still the best film I've seen this year. I love Nolan as a director though, but this film seemed to me a victory of concepts and effects over storytelling and meaningful plot.
  17. Saw them in Hartlepool today, decent day out.
  18. The Day and Night Pixar short before Toy Story was better than Knight and Day.
  19. You probably will get taxed but you can fill out a P46 to get it back.
  20. Toy Story 3. 10/10- just perfect. Think it helped I had kept away from all the spoilers/publicity so I had no idea about the plot. Man, the animation was superb, can't believe Pixar had a cinema of people crying over CGI toys! Agree with luke, they're producing some beautiful stuff these days.
  21. Probably the first interesting thing that's ever happened to you.
  22. Christ, I had no idea about his illness until I read that. Always loved his stuff, I have a book of his essays that I usually take with me on my travels, he's such a good writer. What a loss to the world he'd be. He shines out like a beacon of light in his TV work, considering some of the awful punditry you get mover the pond.
  23. Dig a fuck-off big pit and chuck the likes of him, Roy Whiting, Peter Sutcliffe, Ian Brady, Rose West, etc into it and leave a few hungry tethered wild animals at the top. Let nature sort it out couldn't agree more. And gas foreigners who protest anti British hatred on the streets of Britain who's allegiance lies elsewhere Love the way you tried to sneak that one in while you had someone on your side. I think it'll be a few thousand years before talk of 'gassing foreigners' loses its stigma.
