I'm trying to be positive and look at 4pts from our first four fixtures and that's ok. Man U away, Villa home, Wolves away, B'pool home... It's a predictable return. Admittedly, on the day we should have done better. But long-term I don't think we're suddenly going to implode. aye, I still reckon a finish around 14th or so is likely for us this season, it's just very frustrating. I just hope Smith is catapulted to the moon now and replaced by Tiote and Nolan or Barton make way for Ben Arfa.

I hate this sort of caution regarding not playing Ben Arfa and Tiote, fuck giving players time to settle in, we're not Chelsea we can't afford to not throw these guys straight in and stick with the utterly useless Smith and the often useless Nolan/Barton

Think tiote is more likely to replace smith than anyone else tbh of course, completely forgot about Tiote for a moment there, if he can't overtake Smith in the pecking order than I'd be worried.

Nolan is a bit shit most of the time, but really, does Alan Smith actually do anything that he couldn't do? Smith is a former striker who makes for a shit defensive midfielder imo and I can't see Nolan being any worse at that role if given the opportunity and at least he might chip in with a few goals unlike Smith hasn't scored for a hundred years. Basically just wondering could we try and find a way of dropping Smith and having Nolan and Ben Arfa in the same team.

Couldn't disagree more - massive scapegoat, him. Both Batty and Asprilla get used as scapegoats for what happened that season but the difference is, Batty was actually good, Asprilla had very few good games for us, Batty was steady in almost every one he played.
