  1. Have a think about it. Or look it up. All the clubbers? I actually thought your question was a wind-up since I thought even you must have some awareness of the tensions between them and the Turks. I would normally say stick to subjects you know about but in your case... You've lost me im afraid? Are you saying that because of previous tensions with Turkey, (which lets be fair, havent resulted in any use of the Greek army in decades) Greece should continue to have a 400,000 strong army that it cant afford to pay? I wonder where that will end up heading? Maybe we should stop reducing ours and build it up again in case the Vikings come back.
  2. That's what I usually do and Im a Taxi driver!
  3. Have a think about it. Or look it up. All the clubbers?
  4. You mean the actions that are exactly the route taken by Ireland, Greece and the others that have completely exacerbated the problems? Tbh, I dont really think there is a "perfect" plan out there. The bottom line is a massive correction needs to happen for a lot of countries and most politicians would rather pussy foot around it and put it off for a generation or two. If you listen to some of the economists about whats coming down the road, its pretty scary stuff. The difference between Labour and Conservatives on how they would handle this is miniscule in the great scheme of things. A couple of percentage points here or there between cuts. To me its quite a mirror to the decline of NUFC with Freddy being labour and Ashley being conservative. Once it had gone wrong, the sensible approach would have been to cut costs, re-structure and draw up a new plan. Freddy however just kept throwing money (not his) at the problem and we all know where that was heading. Ashley has come in, took the tough decisions and we are now looking like a healthy club again, albeit a slow recovery. (Its also not lost on me how Ashleys actions made things worse, before they got better).
  5. Thank fuck for Euro sceptics that we are not caught up directly in this fucking mess. A second bailout of some 100 billion that will never be re-paid and simply pushes the problem down the road for some future generation to solve. The greeks still wont pay their taxes and the government will still waste stupid money on silly things. I mean why does greece need a fucking 400,000 strong army! Madness. The only good thing about all of this is that it hammers home to the waverers that the actions being taken in this country are vital not only for now, but more importantly for leaving the country in some sort of competitive state for our kids.
  6. Did we have any yanktastics at this game and if so, what were the new boys like. Sounds as though Ba was a bit sheepish and Marveaux was marvellous. Any word?
  7. It's immaterial as im not coming at it from a tribal position and neither is Cleethorpes. The bottom line is it was Labours watch and upto them what they did and they fucked it up.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPPLooLfEXE That's how we all feel right now I think it's more to do with the fact we had no more money to spend and couldn't keep spending what wasn't ours to spend etc etc etc. As government income is a constant hourly flow of cash into the treasury 'having no money' doesnt even make sense. Secondly, the deficit was caused by a significant reduction in tax revenues as the recession hit. People losing jobs, companies going bust, houses being written down, all caused a signficant reduction in tax revenue. We might say 6% as this is by how much the UK economy shrank. The other side of the coin is the rise in government costs paying welfare and social security to the people who just lost their jobs. At the very same moment, because of the recession, the bond markets demand higher yields on government borrowing, adding to the deficit in an instantaneous fashion. Lets say 6% increase. Thats a 12% of GDP deficit from just the impact of the recesion. What was the deficit figure again? 'What wasnt ours to spend'. How cute. That's a lovely story Chez about some of the factors that occurred when it all went tits up, but that doesn't mean that Labour gets off from squandering money left right and centre whether that be on the bone idle, illegal wars, half cocked battle ships or stupid pfi's! It's like describing the recession hitting and looking at two different families. One is living within their means, getting along ok and has a bit put away for a rainy day. The other is re-mortgaged to the hilt, credit cards max'd with two shiny new motors, a new kitchen, new Dfs sofa all on credit. And before you give me all the manageable amount of debt etc I ain't interested. Labour were in power during a world wide boom and squandered the opportunity.
  9. Didn't employment just go up again?
  10. The defecit was caused by falling revenues caused by a recession whose global roots were in the US - yet another one falling for the media propaganda - are you CT's son? Lol, I just said that! It's quite refreshing to see such wisdom in one so young.
  11. Of course not, why would there need to be when we're borrowing that much money that everyone thinks life will be perfect? Let's put too much money into the civil service and then when the shit hits the fan we can blame everyone else, genius! No offence to any civil servants btw, it's not your fault you got such an easy ride. It's like finding a long lost son!
  12. So with Greece still fucked, the USA on the ropes and the Eurozone in a state of crisis, do people still think getting into more debt to try and buy our way out of recession would have been right. I pretty pleased we have bit the bullet here and are at least trying to put things right! And let's all thank our lucky stars that Blair didn't manage to force us into the Europe. Have also just being listening to an economist (who predicted the last banking crash), on the beeb talking about the coming nightmare for British banks from Euro debt and that collapses are inevitable and that until we let some banks fall, we will never really start to recover!
  13. There or there abouts challenging for Europe with more of a safety bumper from relegation and some memorable matches like last season would do me for next year. A really good cup performance would top it off.
  14. Get in son! Hell of a tackle If that doesn't warrant a ban it's quite shocking.
  15. Who really cares outside the Westminster bubble? Do we re-visit the favourable deals for Murdoch under Blair and Brown. Time to stick this story away and get on with the important shit that is effecting the whole population. Let the police and judges get to the bottom of this. Europe heading down the shitter, America close behind and the country's great and good are scoring points against each other over who sucked Murdochs sausage the least !
  16. Too stupid a statement to be anything else. Ashley continues to create a lot of bad blood and when the inevitable consequence of his negative strategy for running the club bears fruit it’s going to get very ugly at SJP. So what's that then?
  17. Followed by........ And And Joeys a Tory!
  18. Its funny how so many on here berate the board for not exploiting all revenues to cover operating costs rather than relying on transfers fees and then as soon as they do, all hell breaks loose.
  19. Now as you all know, I watch little football apart from Newcastle so have just had a youtube at sturridge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zpw0JSo91jM There is only one goal on there (The curler) that looks like a really classy goal, the others look like knock ins that Shola or Best would get. I have then had a look at his wiki page and his stats are as follows. 2006–2009 ----- Manchester City --- 21 (5) 2009 -----------Chelsea -------------26 (1) 2011 ----------- Bolton Wanderers -- 12 (8) So can I ask what the big fuss is over this lad. Serious question. Surely its not just hysteria over the 8 goals at Bolton, is it?
  20. Just got rid of them last week as it happens. One left if you know anyone who needs one! (Seriously if anyone has a Grandad, Grandma or is just generally lazy and needs something to go to the bookies on on a saturday morning, then I have one left at £199 )
  21. Have you ever run your own business CT? Yes, badly. What about you? Nah. What happened? All the gear no idea. Usually end up in the park with sandwiches in the briefcase!
