Had the ONLY two decent shots in the second half. Yes he gave the ball away today but I think pretty much the whole team was guilty of that today. The lad is a massive talent - we just need to take a leaf out of City's book, they have built their team around Silva, and we need to do the same with Ben Arfa. Minutes on the pitch this season Ben Arfa has done pretty well.

I don't blame the players I blame Pardews tactics. He is obsessed with defence so much so we've two defensive midfielders on the pitch and our defensive line is very deep, we just hand the opposition the chance to break us down. Our strength is attack, and Pardew needs to start unshackling players such as Ben Arfa and let him cause mayhem. It beggars belief we are wasting such a talent, he's the type of player we are crying out for, someone who can add some creativity. In the middle of the park presently we have none. Play him just behind Ba and Cisse, have Cabaye and Tiote sitting behind and Santon and Simpson flying up the wings. We need to start getting at teams, we are not defensively strong enough to sit back and hit teams on the break.

We should be building our team around him, simple as. He is by far our most gifted player and is the type of player we are lacking on the pitch, someone with a creative spark. Our best form of defence is attack.

Said on SSN today that there'll be an ACN next year as well - so we'll miss they both next Jan as well.

HBA caused mayhem when he switched to the right at the Blackburn game, and Jonas played well with Santon on the left. I see no reason to change it.

One thing today really highlighted was our need for a striker - Ben Afra put some quality crosses into the box and no one was on the end of them. Best get my backing for work rate, but he's never going to be a prolific in front of goal.

He plays him because he bought him and is trying to convince himself he'll come good. If the potential is there 52,000 of us have yet to see it. Maybe he's a confidence player and I was all for giving him a chance at the start of the season but we're passed 1/2 way now and I have seen zero improvement. Ben Arfa is in a different league, the lad is hugely rated in France and was one of their brighest prospects. Today we saw a glimse of why they rate him so highly.

Pace is nothing if you do nothing with it. Ben Afra showed today what we'd been missing on the right. He put more crosses in the 2nd half than Obertan has all season.
