http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/dec/0...kileaks-account Dissent will not be tolerated. Hey! But paypal and facebook and all this stuff is cool man! It's like all revolutionary and stuff...We're the kids baby and it's like made us free and shit....blah blah blah... Following the lead of Daniel Elsberg... I’m disgusted by Amazon’s cowardice and servility in abruptly terminating its hosting of the Wikileaks website, in the face of threats from Senator Joe Lieberman and other Congressional right-wingers. I want no further association with any company that encourages legislative and executive officials to aspire to China’s control of information and deterrence of whistle-blowing. I ask Amazon to terminate immediately my account, to delete my contact and credit information from their files and to send me no more notices. I understand that many other regular customers feel as I do and are responding the same way. Good: the broader and more immediate the boycott, the better. I hope that these others encourage their contact lists to do likewise and to let Amazon know exactly why they’re shifting their business. So far Amazon has spared itself the further embarrassment of trying to explain its action openly. This would be a good time for Amazon insiders who know and perhaps can document the political pressures that were brought to bear–and the details of the hasty kowtowing by their bosses–to leak that information. They can send it to Wikileaks (now on servers outside the US), to mainstream journalists or bloggers, or perhaps to sites like antiwar.com that have now appropriately ended their book-purchasing association with Amazon. Yours (no longer), Happy Face >>You should receive a response from one of our representatives within 12 hours. Follow suit people, you know it makes sense. Where will I get my Xmas books?

As I've been saying from day one it's all made up/manipulated. Meant to be the engine for the new economy.

Film/moving picture show you most recently watched

Err lapdogs is the word you're looking for Robster.

Wikileaks get investigated, but otherwise left to operate (as they do) within the law as long as they're providing evidence of lowly soldiers killing and torturing, even though they're following orders......but the moment diplomats, politicians, ambassadors and anyone with an ounce of power is embarrassed in the slightest, the full force of political pressure is brought upon them to shut down the entire operation. Really ruffled feathers with this....the least shocking of their releases. Ruling elite innint.

If fifa are serious than it should go to China.

Both decent players imo and Ranger will get a lot better when he fills out a bit. [/bBCpunditry]

Qatar had the best presentation no doubt. Australia's wasn't so good. An animated Skippy stealing the WC trophy and taking it around Australia. Not the best pitch you'll ever see, not even mediocre tbh, but the execs had made their mind up beforehand anyway. $45 million down the sewer and an assurance bidding again will be a waste of time and effort. Liverpool bids take note.
-
Good read that. Didn't realise he was an aussie, might have to give my unabated support a re-think.
-
The Quatar presentation looked quite snazzy and they pointed out that fifa could cover the whole world prime time or summink which has a big impact on tv revenues and sponsorship.
-
I wonder if the fifa delegates are aware of such proclivities.
-
Babel.
-
The delegates aren't looking for substance though, they're looking for someone to make them feel important, to mix with 'celebrities'. On a related note, I read that Andy Cole was in Zurich promoting the England bid, getting a bit desperate there. In an official capacity? Jesus Christ. No, he had white rings painted round his eyes and was doing a jig.
-
Would have cost a fortune anyway. Ideally it will bancrupt/al queeda/wikileak Quatar.

I don't think it has something to do with the attitude towards England in the world but rather with England's attitude tbh. If it was down to ze good standing in ze vorld ve vould never have hosted it tbf. I think England were a bit too confident (you even might say arrogant) when running the bid. Of course the process as well as the running of FIFA is a complete farce and needs a complete overhaul. But if you seriously want to host a competition you have to play to these rules at least as good as you (morally) can. Of course looking at the objective and logical reason England's was by far the best bid and should have won by a landslide. But it wasn't just down do the quality but also down to politics and that's were the English bid failed. Just from the outside perspecitve I think what the bid was missing was maybe a bit of humbleness. In the end there are probably far too many similarities between the performances of the FA and the English national team. They know they are good on paper but don't put in the right amount of effort (and may I say "planning"?) to perform successfully. I agree with you there. The FA have been a shambles in the run up to the bid. You need a dynamic figurehead who is actually running the bid and the organisation. David Beckham is nice, good looking lad but there's not a lot of substance beyond that. It's a shame like because I honestly think we could have hosted a great tournament. Well, we sent the nonsense babbling idiot Beckenbauer around the world back then. But I agree with what you are saying. I am not sure who would have been a charismatic figurehead for the English bid thoug. Des Lynam.

The Iranians are very keen on football. Opp missed to bring together the two tribes imho. They aren't Arabs though, are they? Keep up man! Muslims tho innit. The cia could have got in dresses as mascots and blown up shit or summink.

Probably a lot harder to fix the tournament if held in Eng.
