Emre Belozoglu has claimed he will quit English football if he is banned by the Football Association for using racist language. The Turkish midfielder has been charged by The FA with 'using racially-aggravated abusive and/or insulting words'. The charge arises from Newcastle United's 3-0 defeat to Everton on 30th December and stemmed from an incident when Emre appeared to wave an imaginary card at Leon Osman. He vehemently denies the accusations and has threatened to leave the Premiership, if he is suspended by The FA. "I didn't say anything, but I am being painted as a bad boy," Emre is quoted in the News of the World. "If I get a ban, I will quit England. I will walk away. "I'm not the kind of person I am being made out to be. I can't even speak English that well. "I have never had any problems like this with another player in any game and I would never make a racist comment about anyone." Emre has an ally in Glenn Roeder, with the Newcastle manager insisting he would not stand for any signs of racism from his players. Roeder said: "It has really upset Emre. We have black players in the team and in the squad, and we are all together, we are all the same. "I would not tolerate anyone who showed any sign of any racism."

PSV Eindhoven have pulled out of talks to sign Newcastle forward Albert Luque on loan until the end of the season. Luque was keen on the switch to Holland, according to the 28-year-old Newcastle outcast's representative. But it is understood Newcastle were not keen to release the Spanish star for the second half of the season, despite his struggle to settle on Tyneside. PSV technical director Stan Valckx told De Telegraaf newspaper: "In principle, we can forget that." The former Deportivo La Coruna player has struggled since joining the Magpies for £9.5m in 2005, and wants a move to resurrect his career. Luque has struggled to make even the bench this season at Newcastle despite a return to full fitness and the Magpies having major injury problems.

GLENN Roeder has laughed off suggestions from Jose Mourinho that United have a stronger squad than Chelsea. The Blues boss was quoted in a national newspaper with reference to the Magpies Academy players whom Roeder has been able to call upon during the recent injury crisis. Mourinho said: "I'm not even as lucky as some other people because I don't have in the reserve team defenders with the quality and ready to play for my team. "You look at other teams - Glenn Roeder had Huntington and the boy who scored against Manchester United (Edgar). "Other teams have an answer. We have no quality defenders and players ready to play for the first team - they are too young or not good enough to play at this level. I don't even have a second squad to go and pick players." But Roeder, despite reiterating his respect for the Portuguese manager, did find the funny side of his comments He said: "I have great respect for Jose and he has always come across as a brilliant coach but what I never realised was that he is also a comedian. "Our players certainly had a laugh about it and could see the funny side of it. "It's nice however that he thinks we are better off but when we played them recently I said the bench they had was probably the best five-a-side team in the world. "But I know where he's coming from and I think he's just having a bit of fun." Roeder said that it was nice to be able to phone his opposite number at Stamford Bridge this week when he inquired about the availability of a player. He added: "I put a call into him this week about a player but was politely refused and perhaps I wasn't aware of how many injury problems Jose had at Chelsea." And with speculation that the former Porto coach is set to wave goodbye to English football at the end of the season, Roeder said that Mourinho would be a loss to the Premiership and hoped he would remain at Chelsea.

St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson hopes to persuade Newcastle Utd striker Carl Finnigan that he can become the next Anthony Stokes by moving to Paisley. The 18-year-old Stokes won a £2m move to Sunderland after a successful loan spell with Falkirk from Arsenal. And MacPherson said: "We mentioned Stokes to Carl, saying a kid came up from Arsenal and did terrifically well. "That's not to say that Carl will do the same for us but it just shows you what can happen." The 20-year-old Finnigan has yet to break into the first-team at St James' Park. "These youngsters just want to play football and, when they are at the top Premiership clubs, it is difficult for them to get an opportunity," said MacPherson. "But they will get an opportunity here. "The boy wants to come and we want the boy so it's now the final piece of the jigsaw that we are waiting on. "We are waiting on word from Newcastle."

Skysports.com understands that a host of English clubs have made enquiries about John Carew. His agent confirmed earlier this month that Carew was in demand, and skysports.com has now learnt that up to five Premiership clubs could be ready to make the Norwegian an offer. The 27-year-old has long been linked with a move to England and although happy with life at Lyon - the rotation policy under Gerard Houllier is not believed to be to his liking. It is believed that Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough have all enquired about Carew at some level. Some of the clubs are further on in their discussions but it is understood Carew would consider all offers before determining his future. England remains his top priority, as he has already tried his luck in Spain, Italy and Turkey - although clubs from La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga are also readying offers. Meanwhile, Bordeaux have confirmed they would readily throw their hat into the ring for Carew - although they dismissed talk of a possible swap for Moroccan ace Marouane Chamakh. "If we have expressed an intention to sign john Carew, we have never thought or talked about an exchange with Marouane Chamakh," Bordeaux supremo Jean-Louis Triaud told AFP.

I plan to buy at the end of this year, start of the following year but will be very lucky to get anything where I currently live. The town where I am is the second most expensive town to buy a house in Scotland However there has been alot of talk of us getting my other halfs Grandpas house, which would be a massive bonus but she is now talking about how she does not want the hassle of commuting which is a negative part of where we are located.. I don't want to move up to the concrete jungle that is known as Glasgow

A rare good point Gemmill. There are 5m people in Scotland, while there are 51m in England. Sky Sports/Talksport/BBC etc.. are clearly going over the top with this coverage of Rangers for reasons unbeknown to me. If they were that interested in Scottish football they'd have kept the contract for the SPL, Setanta got it for pennies when you think how much SKY invest in other events, and that all points to the fact they don't give a fuck about Scottish football surely? They don't because 99.9% of the English population don't. Scotland is like a bubble, they seem to think the world notices Celtic/Rangers etc... I'll watch any football, but I can't watch that because it's shite and irrelevant and that's all there is to it. The coverage in the media is ridiculous, they don't go over the top when Lyon or PSV appoint a new manager so why bother with this? Because France and Holland are not in Britain maybe...
-
I take your point Vic, but the sad reality is Celtic and Rangers have always held more influence than the SFA, particularly Rangers. I find the whole thing astonishing, the equivalent thing in this country would be McClaren walking out on England while doing a fantastic job, to go to Man Utd. Having said all that and this is no disrespect to our Scottish cousins, but I'm sick of the media coverage of it down here to be honest. Every night you put the telly on "Rangers cross swords with SFA" I mean really who gives a fuck? We never see Rangers live games and when we do it really is worse than Championship standard, yet Sky Sports, Talksport, Radio Five, have spoken about little else for a whole week. Thankfully they usually ignore Scottish football. Perhaps because these channels are "British" channels rather than "English" ones?

In the past there has been problems with certain players from "The Big Two" being singled out for abuse however in more recent times it has got a lot better. I know I have seen nothing but good banter amongst all the supporters of Scotland at any national match I have been at.. I would think the hard core Celts wouldnt support Scotland anyway, they think they're Irish FFS Aye many do, just like many Rangers fans support England however I think you'll find most actually support their own nations, its just that often they all get generalised as being wannabee Irish supporters etc.

Me! TBH I know many Old Firm supporters who are big followers of the Tartan Army. One of my best mates up here is actually a bluenose, but would choose the national team over them anyday..
