When Alex goes to the stats I know we're in trouble. 3 wins away from home in the last season and a half...(I think)

In the pub as well as the stadium. Even in the Trent? Shinton will be up for it then... Hello did I hear my name They left out loads of stools on Saturday. I think they just took yours away to piss you off..
-
` No chance of that. We will just see more lunchtime kick offs on Saturdays and Sundays and probably a fair few Saturday tea-time matches too. Sky would give us loads of TV coverage.
-
I will still be going but these fucking train journeys home don't half seem to be getting longer and longer after a depressing result...

Alex, or any other whisky drinkers.. Whats this stuff like? http://www.thedrinkshop.com/products/nlpde...php?prodid=1836 Just been handed in a bottle of it by a client I done an Annual Report for... -
On the topic of West Hams signings. Start praying we are not the relegation threatened side this season that signs Nigel fucking Quashie. He always gets move in January......

Some might go OTT but on the other hand you have some over on N-O saying that Jonas is nothing but an average player who is useless and ineffective... He's a canny player like. He's a good, hard-working winger and he has a bit of pace and strength about him. Comfortable down both flanks too. He's nowt special mind imo. Probably be a lot better and productive with some better players, playing with confidence around him. Agreed. Even the best players in the world would look average in our current team...

See West Ham for examples. West Ham paid silly money in terms of wages though. Is Lucas Neill not on something like 70k

I understand your point but I think he has been shocked at how crap he is at this business. His complete inability to see Dennis Wise as the fucking liability he is and that when trying to find a manager to replace Keegan all wise could do was call his old mate Joe Kinnear is a fucking joke. If we go down and he keeps control we are fucked. It will be like the 80's again when all we can do is play for middle table championship year in year out. Or best scenario be a yo yo team like the baggies. That would see our gates drop like a lead balloon. I think he will shit himself if he is still in charge at the start of next season and sees how few season tickets are sold. Like it or not people are sick of watching shit week in and week out and we wont fill 52,000 seats in the championship by a long way. Im not sure he has. I reckon he is too stubborn to think he is crap and probably blames other influences. On Wise, how bad has he actually been? Im not sure what he has or hasnt done (factually) to know what influence he has had. I know we signed some canny players, and some shite, and not enough. Was this him? I know we tried to get El Tel before JFK but he wouldnt come due to the temp contract was this him or Lambias? I dont know. Also we dont know who else we tried? I do agree though, if we go down and he keeps control we're fucked. I also agree that the season tickets will be even worse next year. Staying up or not. When you take into account how tight we have been in regards to signing players + contracts this makes (if true) his supposed seven figure salary fucking madness...

Scored more than 13 other teams too. Another fact is that Kinnear has a record worse than Allardyce now though. We were discussing that on the train on the way back to Jockland on Saturday night. If these results persist do you sack the interim manager? If it wasn't enought to keep the likes of Allardyce in a job do we have the confidence to let this fuckwit remain in charge?

While that's true I think a lot of that was down to how utterly shit they were, as opposed to how good we were. We were good, but seriously at half time I remember thinking these are one of the worst sides I've seen here in 15 years. So much so I took the toon to win the second half 3-0 at 28/1. There's no way we're too good to go down, better teams than us have went down, maybe not bigger clubs since Man Utd, but Leeds had more talent at their disposal than us. Let's pray it doesn't come to that, but the bandwagon crying that Kinnear has done a wonderful job needs to pipe down as well. Two wins in eleven isn't good enough, and a lot of this praise he's receiving seems to be coming from himself! Harry Redknapp does the same thing. I know Guthrie went off, but I 110% blame him for Saturday no one on earth can convince me the he didn't tell them to be less attacking in the second half. It's Stoke at home for fuck sake with a midfield consisting of Amdy Faye. Joke. We can go down quite easily, people are saying Blackburn might go, but they've got canny players, I'd rather have Santa Cruz than any of our forwards. Worst case scenario for us was Keane going because Sunderland aren't all that bad. They're poor but they've got 3 canny forwards in Diouff, Jones and Cisse (nowt special but can do a job). Richardson is alright and so is Malbranque, i.e. a new manager could get more out of that side than Keane was managing to get. Exactly the same applies to the Ince/Blackburn situation imo. I think even if Ince stays they can get out of it, what I was banking on was Hull being dragged in to it, as well as Bolton and Fulham but all three are more than holding their own at the minute. If we're in it with seven games left we can still do it, I think there could be four wins from these IF we sort it out. Sat Apr-11 Stoke City (a) Sat Apr-18 (18/19 FA SF) Tottenham (a) Sat Apr-25 Portsmouth (h) Sat May-02 Liverpool (a) Sat May-09 Middlesbrough (h) Sat May-16 Fulham (h) Sun May-24 Aston Villa (a) There is points to be had there but the big question mark if we are still in the mix for going down will be how low the players confidence is and if them and us the supporters have the stomach for the fight. It didnt take long for the moans and groans to start on Saturday...

I think they will sack Ince quite soon and then they will shoot up the table. Aye thats what could fuck us big time, both them and the Mackems could do themselves a big favour if they appoint the right man. Whilst my initial reaction was that it would be funny if Fat Sam went to the Mackems I dont actually want it to happen as I think he may be able to do a half decent job of creating his Bolton side with the players at his disposal. With Kenwyne Jones playing the Davies role and Cisse and Diouf either side and a 3 man midfield with Malbranque as his creative player they could actually string a few results together.

I would stick a cheeky bid in for Bullard (as he is out of contract in the summer I think) Whilst hes no world beater I think he could easily improve us in the middle of the park and our tight bastard of an owner would maybe not have to break the bank.
-
I would normally agree with you but the only one of those teams we have beat so far is West Brom and by the end we were hanging on against them (and they are comfortably the weakest team in the league). Citeh are strong at home and could have spent god knows what by the time we play them so I wouldn't be betting on us beating them. I have been concerned before because of the way we were playing but our inability to beat shite at home combined with an even worse than usual record away from makes things even worse. Add to that the fact that other teams (like the makems and probably Blackburn) have the oppertunity to sack their manager and get someone else in who will give them at least a short term lift and possibly some money to spend in January while we have no chance of getting a new manager this season and very little of fatty putting some cash in for transfers while a lot of players will be thinking about being elsewhere. I really do think we could be fucked this season and I'm hoping for a meltdown at west ham to have much hope at all. To tell the truth, if someone had asked what would you hope for out of Chelsea (a), Boro(a), Stoke(h) I'd have said 4 points. To have gotten 3 isn't as miserable as Saturday made me. But thats the thing we would have been better off with getting hammered by Chelsea but taking the 3 points off of Stoke. Whilst we continue to drop points against the likes of Blackburn, Wigan, Stoke etc we are never pulling away from them as even when we are picking up the odd decent point they are at least taking points off each other. I think it was Alex that said to me on Saturday that is was beating the teams around them that kept the Mackems up last season. We cannot win away from home and with the top four and the likes of Spurs, Everton and Pompey to come to St James Park I really do worry after what should really be our home bankers in the likes of Blackburn, Hull, Wigan and Stoke having already passed us by...

In January? I'd rather they stayed and kept us up, then went for nowt in the summer as none of those would bring much money in next month due to their contract situation. I could see the board employing your thinking though. Agreed. 3 or 4 million or whatever ridiculous fees that are getting said for Owen are worth fuck all compared to the goals he potentially could score to keep us up.
-
Aye it probably is wishful thinking. January will see Kinnear week after week spouting shite about being so close to signing someone with it falling through at the last hurdle, with us bringing in a couple of unknowns on loan...

ALTHOUGH the focus of Newcastle United’s transfer activity ahead of the January window has centred on the search for a new left-back, assistant manager Chris Hughton has confirmed they are also looking to sign a central midfielder. Hughton is wary of revealing anything too sensitive whenever he speaks to the media, but he admitted after Newcastle’s disappointing draw with Stoke City they had already identified the centre of midfield as an area of particular weakness in a small squad. Newcastle may have extended their unbeaten run to four games after the 2-2 stalemate against Stoke but, for the second successive home game, they conceded an injury-time equaliser and have now taken just four points from a possible 15 since the impressive win over Aston Villa on November 3. United’s squad looks short on both number and quality and an injury to Danny Guthrie on Saturday means Kinnear is heading into the busy and crucial festive period forced to play several individuals out of position. “Central midfield is an area that we do need to strengthen,” said Hughton, who was sent out to speak to the media following Kinnear’s dismissal to the stands for verbally abusing the linesman. “I think Geremi did well in there first half but apart from him, who can also play wide, we have Nicky Butt, Danny Guthrie and Joey Barton. Today in the second half we had three of the three out.” Kinnear has already confirmed his interest in two left-backs, Hearts’ David Obua and Independiente’s Lucas Mareque, but he is more secretive regarding the identity of potential midfield targets. It may also be significant that Newcastle’s executive director (football) Dennis Wise was in Italy over the weekend to have a look at Roma’s former Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise and it remains to be seen whether it is he or Kinnear who decides on signings. Kinnear is adamant he will have the final say on all transfers, but former manager Kevin Keegan said the same before quitting in protest at boardroom control of the recruitment process. Having delivered a couple of red herrings in recent weeks – first insisting he was after two players from Italy before claiming the two he was actually pursuing are playing in Holland – Kinnear has now declared former Porto defender Mareque, who plays in Argentina, is his number one target. He said: “Lucas Mareque is a player we are looking to bring in from Independiente in the January transfer window and we are trying to find out what that would entail,” Kinnear told The People. “He is 6ft 2ins and height is something we could do with in our back four. “We have looked at the way our own Argentinians, Jonás Gutiérrez and Fabricio Coloccini have settled in and we have spoken to them about Mareque and they have given us glowing reports.” It would not come as much of a surprise if none of the three full-backs mentioned by Kinnear ended up at St James’s Park next month as the Newcastle boss is playing a game of cat and mouse with the media. New faces are definitely needed, though, as Hughton revealed the players had been hit hard by Stoke’s late equaliser. He said: “Sometimes when you come to changing room in situations like this and you are bitterly disappointed, sometimes you don’t have to say too much, the players know themselves. They’re very aware, very angry and disappointed. “I would put us in the same group as seven or eight teams at the moment, striving to pull clear of the bottom three. We’re not doing it because we’re not winning enough games. But there is a confidence we can get the two or three wins on the bounce which will take us away from the bottom.” Meanwhile, Kinnear could be hit with a four-game touchline ban and a hefty fine after he was sent off by referee Mike Riley for verbally abusing the linesman who awarded the free-kick which led to Stoke’s equaliser. The 61-year-old has already been charged with improper conduct by the FA this season after he labelled another referee, Martin Atkinson, “Mickey Mouse” after a 2-1 defeat at Fulham. The two charges could now be combined to run concurrently.

Too good? Jonas aside, we have one of the worst midfields in the league... As others have said depending who the Mackems bring in, and if Blackburn make a change that could give them both the short term buzz to go on a small run and pick up a few points. What could end up a problem for us is that in recent years we have got rid of a manager when in these kind of positions and the club has went on a run of games when a new man has come in. With Kinnear already being this seasons "replacement" I doubt we will get that mix up that has really saved our season under the likes of Roeder and Keegan. Whilst it would be crazy to appoint someone for this reason alone, I can only see the appointment of the likes of Shearer taking the reigns and the hysteria that would surround it be enough for us to go on any kind of decent run to get the points we need so badly.

Oh, grow a pair you patronising git. And do what exactly? Or are you missing my point completely? I think you're missing mine, Gemmill's and Spongebob's. We're not biting to any of his rubbish, but we're tired of seeing threads go this way all too often because other people will continue to do so, despite your teacher-esque "just ignore him, he's only after attention" comments. As we've all said, you have the power and the responsibility (Spiderman-tastic!) to stop this happening but you won't. I don't know if it's because you pride yourselves on being more relaxed than N-O or because you're big bunch of fannies that doesn't have the stones, although I suspect a combination of the two. Get rid of the twat. Its only the internet for fuck sake...

I'd agree with this. The number of threads that get derailed by this wanker is ridiculous. And saying "he's a WUM, just ignore him" is daft, because some people clearly can't ignore him. If he goes, the problem goes - and he is a problem because he's dragging this place down by constantly looking for and getting a reaction from certain people. The job of the mods is to stop stuff like that happening. Time they did their job. To be fair if we got rid of all the pricks on here you would have been banned a long time ago...
