We had wanted to go to Vegas/San Franisco/California (even started a thread on here about it and got loads of hints and did quite a lot of planning) but with two kids to pay for at uni this year we don't have enough cash to do that to the extent that we want - so it will have to wait until '08. I don't like lying in the sun all day (prefer to sit in the shade reading) but mrs hips needs a sunshine break, so Gran Canaria it is. Staying at Ola Cecilia Apartments for a week, self catering, which came to £583.70. Chuffed with that and looking foward to getting away in the sun. http://www.cheapholidays.com/holidays/accom_result.php Weird time to post I know, but I've been to Cala D'Or, Boyo, and really liked it, especially compared to some of the other areas of Mallorca. Hasn't got a massive nightlife but should be good if you're with your lass - don't let the fact I like it put you off. And for SnakeHips: Gran Canaria eez a strictzly only Jorman island. All the reviews from 2006 onwards have pretty much been 10/10, so that's great. We're just looking for something like you said. We're not arsed with a jumping nightlife, we just want a variety of entertainment, a few bars, cafes, shops & restaurants with the beach near by.
