Juventus have rejected reports that Didier Deschamps has resigned as manager.

Reports circulating in Italy on Saturday suggested Deschamps had offered to quit Juve after talks with club officials.

However, Juve insist Deschamps has made no decision on his future and that he will be in charge for Saturday's home match with Mantova

A Juventus statement read: "Juventus have not received any letter of resignation from Didier Deschamps. Therefore the coach will be on the bench as normal for today's game against the Mantova.

"The general executive manager Jean-Claude Blanc will continue with talks, which already started during the week, in order to quickly clear up the issue with Deschamps."

Didier Deschamps has resigned as Juventus coach after guiding them to the Serie B title and back to Italy's top flight at the first time of asking.

They were demoted last summer and began the season on minus nine points after being found guilty of match-fixing.

At first the club denied rumours he was going but later issued a statement.

"The manager and the club, noting that conditions no longer exist for a satisfactory mutual relationship, have decided to part company," it said.

Deschamps, who won the Champions League with Juventus as a player in 1996, took charge of the Turin side last summer following their demotion to Serie B.

He had said he wanted to coach them in the top flight but there had been persistent rumours in Italy that he could be on his way out.

Former Juventus and Italy boss Marcello Lippi had already been linked with the job even before Deschamp's exit had been confirmed.

Deschamps, who captained France to World Cup glory in 1998, has in turn been linked with the vacancy at French champions Lyon, following Gerard Houllier's resignation on Friday.

I think that would be an absolutely astounding piece of idiocy on the part of Man Citeh's board.

they're surely too big a club to approach Gullit.. I was expecting them to go for Mourinho, Lippi, that they'd raise Sir Alf or maybe try to coax Rommel to lend his tactical nous to football?

He offered his resignation after the players expressed a desire to wear the traditional Juventus strip that they wore against us in their centenary celebrations ie the Pink one.

Deschamps said that he didn't like that as "in my country pink is worn by faggots" which caused a major row resulting in him apologising and offering to resign.
