Tab Clear and Cherry Cola. Used to see loads of Cherry Cola in the 80's then it dissapeared.

Why do people put so much shite on 80s music?

The mainstream was crap but look deeper and it was amazing:

Killing Joke

Jesus and Mary Chain

The Cocteau Twins

Actually most of 4ad.

The Pixies

The Cure

The Smiths

KMFDM

Depeche Mode

Siouxsie and the Banshees

New Order

The Style Council

Sisters of Mercy

The Mission

NIck Cave and the Badseeds (Also the Birthday Party)

The Scientists

Echo and the bunnymen

Violent Femmes

The Cramps

Talking Heads

The Stems

Dexys Midnight Runners

Dead Kennedys

Black Flack

Ministry

New Model Army

Caberet Voltaire

Severed Heads

Talk Talk

The Blue Nile

It's Immaterial

Blue Ruin

The Hard Ons

The New Christs

The Sugarcubes

The Smitherines

Husker Du

Tad

Big Black

Grand Master Flash

The list goes on and on and yet all anyone chooses to remember from that period musically is crap like black box and the fucking happy shite house smilie music or American crap like Whitney Houston.

If you take the time and effort and search through things like the new wave and new rommantic bands you can even find some musical jems, it wasn't all shite.

We should be thankful for 80s music as it started a revolution with the rise of independant record labels. There is no way in hell that Geffen or Sony would of released stuff like Nirvana or Pearl Jam if it hadn't been for 4ad, sub-pop or even CBS's success with Fiction records.

The belief 80s music was a nonentity is just a myth, explore and find the truth.

I meant what I said. 80s music was wank and should not be played today. Wipe all evidence that the 80s ever existed as far as I'm concerned.

How old are you 12?

Melbourne was actually the centre of some of the best music ever produced in the 80s. Places like the corner hotel, the venue, the palace, the espie, the punt club and host more were venues where bands like blue ruin, the olympic sideburns, the wreckery, nick cave, space juniors, the bo weevils, the stems, the scientists, hoodu gurus, lime spiders.

And yet you can only think of faith no more and the pixies???
