I notice it does imply its £950 for the first year tax rate so i presume its a measure to try to put people off buying new ones rather than attacking those who already own them? Well to actually get one of those smiles all you'd have to do is get selected in a safe seat then take the train and claim travelling expenses. Even with the road tax raise (never mind this tax raise) I still doubt it'll be enough to put off the idiots that currently have them as a town car. And it'll still hammer people that have them out of town (and I can't see the extra "green" tax revenue being used to clear, grit or even in some cases rebuild their roads). Of course the irony is IF all the big engined vehicles out there suddenly disappeared, there'd be another HUGE tax hole from their "road" tax and all the tax from their running costs, so making the Government put up taxes on ALL cars again to claw back its revenue (which is what will happen anyway one way or another).
