I never doubted that with match fitness the goals will come. Even if never becoming the 'old' Michael Owen I reckon he is still far from 100%.

He is still missing too many easy chances IMO. Not that I expect him to get them all, but it is important that he takes most of them, particularly as his pace has gone, and he's in a side that is creating little, although this has improved lately.

I think if we had been picking up points people would have been saying what a good return, 4-in-7 is. However, without the points it doesn't really matter does it?

Confidence and practice (considering the dearth of chances and that really he's still not been back that long considering how long he's been out over the last couple of seasons).

Plus he's had more than a few saved by some pretty decent goalkeeping.

I still think in a "Keegan side" (which this still is not) he'd be scoring pretty freely.

If you give him the chances, he'll get you the goals.

Been unlucky to be denied by some good goalkeeping the past couple games. Good to see him on the scoresheet again.

Like his first half sitter today?

There is no striker in the world who never misses an easy chance. The point is that he scored his next one.

He must have the best headers-to-midgetness ratio in the league now.

Not seen the goals yet, another header? If I was a defender and that shortarse got ahead of me I'd be mortified.

Maybe if he out-jumped you. But the smaller players tend to be quicker than the bigger ones.

In all seriousness Patronisokles I know he manages it due to his superior timing of his run/leap compared to the cloggers around him, but still, you'd feel a bit daft if player half a foot shorter than you beat you to a header.

It's good to be so blazé when we won. It'd be a different story if that was a chance to win the game in the 90th minute tbh

[alex] it's blasé [/alex]

Of course it would be, but it's not, and if he keeps scoring it won't be that story, even if he misses a few or gets a few well saved.

Last sentence is key for me.

He had the added advantage from the set-piece of knowing where the ball was going to be. You boys are overcomplicating it.

When Keegan arrived and made him captain I said he'd get 15 if he stayed fit. Looking at the games we've got left to play he'll probably struggle to do that, it should still be his target though.

A Hat-trick against the mackems would surely get him a few verses of "Englands number 1".

Unfortunate that he hits form for us when we're at the arse end of the league. Poo.

I dunno like, we'd be in even deeper poo if he wasn't in form!

Nee idea what point I was trying to make last night. Blame the lager.

These are a few months out of date. But his is still around a goal every two games which is what top tier strikers are judged by.

He's dropped a few places at the end of 2006 he was 9th.
