The controverisal guidance - titled Pleasure - has been given to parents, teachers and youth workers in a bid to modernise sex education. It highlights the health benefits of frequent action between the sheets and suggests that kids have a "right" to a sex life. It reads: "Health promotion experts advocate five portions of fruit and veg a day and 30 minutes' physical acivity three times a week. What about sex or masturbation twice a week?" The advice was drawn up by NHS Sheffield but is being distributed outside the city. Steve Slack, director of the the region's HIV and sexual health clinic, helped write the document. He argued that the approach would help persuade youngsters to hold onto their virginity until ready for the next step. He is said to believe that properly informed teens have as much right to physical relationships as adults. But critics have branded his views as "deplorable".
