Given up smoking

If you can give up for 7 years, you can give up for life, surely? Just do what you did before, or consider nicotine replacement or bupropion (from your GP) as an aid in the short term. After that will power is the only answer.

Also I guess you could put the money you would have spent aside and use it to buy "treats" as an incentive, or even towards a gym membership....

I can't be arsed with gyms either, neither can most people for 11 months a year. But seriously, you could save £40 a week not smoking - enough money for a luxury holiday in Barbados!

Don't start

Give it up ASAP if you do smoke

NOTHING will improve your life and health and life expectancy more

If you want to start ask someone to take you into a Cancer ward at the hospital and ask how many people walked out in the last year

If you don't like Gyms (like me, can't stand the fuckers) then either go for a run or even better go swimming. Both will cost you next to nowt to do (running will actually cost you fuck all) and keep you fit. To put this in to context, the coroner was pretty much convinced that the heart attack that killed my faffa was through smoking.

I was man enough to give up over 2 years ago...no patches, no inhalers, nothing. If I can do it and you can't....what kind of arse are YOU!?  :(

Just remember NEVER have another one...it won't work.

Its the only way to do it, however not wanting to piss on your parade or owt but I once gave up for over 7 years! then got the cravings and fought em for 6 months before giving in so its a long long road mate. Never assume you're over it.

True...I visited some friends (both HEAVY smokers) of my Dad's up here just after I gave up and they told me they'd once given up for 5 years and then started up again.

The woman was a good looking PE teacher when I was a kid, now she looks much older than she is and her skin is almost grey.

It was a good reminder not to take it for granted that you've quiit, so I hear that.

Liquorice helped me. Though I have recently started again after being tab free for over a year, works just so depressing I cant help it  . 2 a day doesnt classify me as being a smoker again in my book though

I can go a full week without a cigarette no problem if i don't go for a drink (occasional joint in between) but as soon as I've got a pint in my hand at the weekend I'm like Kate Bush, then i feel like shit the next morning.

Saying that when i was at Longbenton i would smoke about 4 a day due to the boredom and the annoyance factor of the people i had socialise with, never smoke in the house though, haven't since the bairn was born (4 year ago).

Nothing alledgedly about it, my mate informed me of yet another lass who'd encountered the twisted sausage of Pressy! He's now a laughing stock in Indie wannabe circles, even more so than his "band"!

Hold on a second, it's him you used to go for tabs with!

It wasn't hard for Mark to give up, he now just has no Blue Wkds instead of two on a night out.
