Well he was before my time really but my impression from my parents was he wasn't a good local MP. I think it's on record he barely ever uttered a word in parliament. MPs of that length should be able to point to something they have done.

 

Also, I disagree that somehow back in the 70s people voted on the basis of locality. If anything back then it was much more partisan and people voted for the party of their class. The map was red in the North, Blue in the South, with a few brummy cunts swinging it for Thatcher in the middle. A vote for Trotter was a vote for Thatcher. I would never vote Tory for any reason under any circumstances, ever.

I can only comment on my experience re: Trotter and I was 21 and hardly particularly politically aware, wish I wasn't now tbh.

 

And I never said the bold bit or referenced the 70's but it is a fact that just about solely thanks to Southern England we have had Tory PM's/Governments.

This video showed up in my feed and I immediately thought it would be some sort of right wing nonsense - but I watched it anyway and the guy is actually really good and tackling the issue legitimately, including HS2, housing, all sorts. However, I don't know that much about this area, so if anyone can be arsed having it on in the background at any point, I'd appreciate a view. He's pretty easy listening.

If he had any balls he’d start the ball rolling on electoral reform because that’s the only chance of a progressive-led coalition in four years time. (Not the Starmer’s Labour have done anything particularly progressive).

Weirdly, it's possible that Farage might deliver that when Reform win. It's a manifesto point for them isn't it? Could be the necessary evil we need to get fucking rid of this two party system once and for all.

Yeah just checked, Reform are committed to PR. That's the one silver lining here tbh. Starmer might well be too chicken to do it but Farage will because it'll represent his complete and total victory over British politics. I might actually be willing him on with that  Fucking hell.
