New Laptop

So my old one is very much on its last legs.

Its screen doesn't work (its permanently attached to a screen now) its keyboard just decides I'm holding down the / key sometimes. It is limping on for a bit but its days are numbered.

My last couple of machines have been from PCSpecialist who I'd have no hesitation with buying from again but I wonder if there are any other places I should be looking first?

I have gone to PCSpecialist several times and haven't been let down. I mean, shop around by all means, but I would go back to them personally.

Why not a desktop then? get more bang for your buck

Anyway if it's something like that anyway and you might use it for games you know yourself anything with a reasonable graphics card in it (gtx 1050/60 or more) prob going set ya back 700+

i'd say dell or pcspecialist will be grand tbh, most of them will be based off the same "setup" not an awful lot of room to be different with laptops and what they can get from suppliers

Its needs to be able to move around a little within the house and other places, I'm also hoping to move to NZ for a year or so fairly soon and would like to take something decent with me so laptop it is.

Can't you just watch porn on your phone?

You'd rather watch porn like a Member of Parliament and get caught?

No, thats why I want a new laptop that doesn't belong to my work.

I’m after a laptop for an 11 year old.

I was looking at an Acer 715 in Curry’s.

What is the difference between a laptop and a chrome book?

He’s basically wants to be able to edit videos, watch YouTube and whatever other shit 11 year olds do when not on Fortnite.

If anyone could answer the chrome book question and ideally confirm the one above is ok or recommend something else, I would be very grateful.

CT is the Lee Charnley of Boldon, utterly incapable of making a decision by himself.

Its so fucking complicated man. I’ve been Googling like fuck all morning :(

laptops good for running programs

Chromebook bad

Laptops bad for viruses, chrome book good.

But you’re right  I just want someone to say “yes that one’s ok” or “no, get this one”.

Did you read the link Fish posted?

It tells you, with bullet points, third paragraph down, what to get.

Going from your post above, it’s not even a 3-way choice, as you seem to be torn between a chrome book or laptop.

If he needs to install software to edit his videos, then a chrome book is probably no good.

Lets be honest, he’s 11 taking naff videos of him doing random crap such as an overhead basket ball shot, a Fortnite session or the dog, just being a dog

He has about 7 family followers even though each video ends with a serious look to camera and “Guys, don’t forget to like and subscribe”.

Already he can somehow add music and text via his phone before he uploads, so I think he really just needs to be able to cut and join bits.

Ah fuck it I’ll tell him Santa got mugged.

Wait, he's 11 and still believes in Santa? Mate, I think you need to have a word.

Crush that childhood naivety. CRUSH IT!

Ive tried, but I’ve been here before. When you’re the youngest you get to see how crap your older siblings presents are once they don’t believe.

Plus I’ll have to break the news about the tooth fairy first
