Other Games 2024-25

Just watched the Man Utd / Aston Villa highlights for the first time.

Concerning the biggest talking point it was absolutely a legitimate goal. The ruling around it is vague and needs clarifying but if that's a foul we might as well all give up on it ever being a contact sport again.

That said, Villa were absolutely dog shit all game. The reason they finished outside of the CL places wasn't because of one decision - they got precisely what they deserved in that game - fuck all.

We were awful on Sunday, but so were they and so too were Forest. In light of that, the way the table finished up was in line with what it should be.

I think the meltdown has to be driven by PSR concerns and knowing they'll lose players this summer. Rogers is the one I'd be most interested in, absolute quality, that kid and would link up brilliantly with Isak. Imagine their reaction if not only did we get 'their' CL place but we also took their prized asset

Watkins to Arsenal is being spoken about quite freely down this way as well.

Keith Hackett stoking up the argument about appointing such an inexperienced referee and calling out Michael Oliver being the VAR selection for Tottenham v Brighton and saying that instead, he should have been refereeing at OT.

Has he clean forgotten Oliver is a Newcastle fan and therefore wouldn't have been eligible due to conflict of interest?

This whole 'he's not experienced enough' arguement is fucking pathetic. He's got his refereeing licence so he's met the threshold to referee that match. And how else do they expect they're going to get experienced if they never give them a big game? Jesus titty Christ!

Reckon Gyokeres is more likely than Watkins.

When Man U wanted to win the title they signed Van Persie, Ollie Watkins isn't firing a team to a league title.

Let's be honest, if that was Newcastle who'd had the goal disallowed we'd be raising hell about it however if the club lodged an official complaint about it, I'd think we were being pathetic. It's as bad as Forest going on about the 3 penalty decisions against Everton last season. Have some fucking dignity, man!

The discrete point is, the goal wouldn't have made a difference - they'd still have lost 2-1. They might argue the course of the game might have been different had they had the lead but the same argument could be used against Martinez losing his fucking head just before halftime.

If this disallowed goal happened when Man Utd were 1-0 up, and that's the way the game ended then their argument may have some credence. It didn't, so Villa need to STFU and accept it.

I mean ... did we go apeshit when Coventry had a perfectly good goal chalked off in the semi-final last season which ultimately led to Man Utd winning the cup and meaning we weren't competing in Europe at all? Did we fuck!
