Is there places in Wales and Scotland for example still like that and do you live in a place like that. If you're stuck for a pint of milk on a Sunday you're basically limited to the shops at petrol stations, train stations and the like. It's largest-economy-in-Europe-tastic! Its probably a lot to do with the continuing importance of christian religions in most european countries that they have strict opening laws. That or laziness. Although all the locals here are far too obsessed with the new shopping centre thats about 1/4 the size of the eldon one in the middle of newcastle...
