  1. I know there's been a lot written about the Munich anniversary and perhaps it does get fetishised a bit, but I thought this was really interesting: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42845471

  6. Actually I've been thinking recently how profoundly undemocratic our system is. Some examples: 1) FPTP means for most people voting in a GE is a complete waste of time. 2) We don't vote for our PM. In fact, our PM has not been directly elected in more than 8 of the last 10 years. 3) Our president, the queen, is hereditary. 4) The HoL is not democratically elected and includes heridatry peers and theists. 5) Our class society means the odds are stacked against the average person becoming an MP or entering the judiciary. 6) Pervasive right wing bias in all aspects of the media, usually for the lobbying benefit of nom dom oligarchs. All in all, profoundly undemocratic, as Brexit shows.

  7. Tbf, if you're an insipid joke who wouldn't say boo to goose you need somewhere to showcase your outrageous banter. We're just lucky he's chosen this place.

  8. You couldn't move for people prancing around in Nazi uniforms on prime-time ITV in the 90s. Cilla's Blind Date used to send the happy couple to the Sudetenland for the weekend. Michael Barrymore's My Kind Of Volk was a big favourite. And Wolf off of Gladiators was originally going to be Schweinhund until the namby-pamby politically correct brigade had their way.

  9. Dressing up as a Nazi - that favourite British pastime. I remember the days ... there wasn’t weekend that went by when you didn’t see group of swastika-clad men, out on a stag do, goose-stepping through the bigg market. ‘Twas a golden era.

  11. After the horrific tube and bus bombings in London in July 2005 we were due to play Arsenal at Highbury in one of the first fixtures of the season the following month. Am not of massive fan of LU at the best of times and I remember thinking "bloody hell, think I'll get a cab to the ground" which is of course utter bollocks, I'd never done it before so why would I start doing it now? So it was put to the back of my mind along with our abysmal record at Arsenal in general. I live on the south coast and got on the train that morning with several different feelings whirring around my stomach; trepidation, excitement etc.. it was only after getting off at Waterloo and heading down the escalator to the underground ticket hall that I realised that they'd all gone. It was at that point I think I learned a true life lesson; if you drink 6 cans of Stella on a train journey of 2.5 hours you're afraid of nothing and fuckin nobody Hope this helps, good luck with your studies
