For most of their history that was the only thing the smoggies had ever won2 points

They’re fucked. No Champions League football next year, no ability to buy players, Hazard and that other young fella off in the summer and no decent manager is going to touch them under those conditions. My heart bleeds for them. Man City next please.2 points

It doesnt matter to me if it would have happened or not in terms of my faith in Corbyn. His stance so far is an absolute betrayal of the membership. I mean let's remember that 65% of Labour voters (not members) voted Remain. 65%. The membership 90% wants a second referendum. He's thrown all of that away in order to pick up the non voting malcontents who delivered Brexit to us. They aren't his responsibility though, his responsibility is Labour voters and members. It's pathetic.2 points

Starting to make good on a vague new year's resolution to finally watch all the unwatched/shrinkwrapped DVDs and Blurays on the shelves before deciding whether to keep them or give them to the charity shop and belatedly embrace the Netflix age. They're alphabetised (because I'm a normal person) so I figured I might as well work from left to right and start with Amadeus, which I remember seeing as a little kid and being freaked out by the death scene. Quite why I was still watching by then I've no idea since it's (a) about classical music and (b) so bloody long (even more so with this being the director's cut) but as ridiculous and historically wonky as it is, I can't say I didn't enjoy it this time round. May have done a bit of air conducting once or twice.2 points

I only really know what is written in that article and according to that, Cardiff announced that the deal was all signed and he had been registered for their squad so it looks like everything that was required was received (if I remember rightly he was talked about as possibly being registered in time to play against us, so possibly he didn't need a work permit?). What McKay did on their behalf in terms of booking the flight is nothing to do with Nantes though is it? You would have though Cardiff would have arranged such things for their record signing themselves but if the transfer had gone through, it was no longer Nantes concern either way. I assume Cardiff would have had him insured from the moment he became their player. You would think the insurance company would be interested in knowing whether Cardiff had correctly safeguarded the asset they were insuring. Again this has nothing to do with Nantes though. They could seek compensation from McKay for their loss, but they would still have to pay. I agree that their claim certainly comes across as lacking in class but then again, I've got no idea what their finances are. They may be in a position that they can't afford for Cardiff to take their time over things. It appears that a large part of Cardiff's issue comes from whether or not they were mislead into thinking there were other clubs in for the player and so they paid over the odds. But I can't see how this is an argument not pay. It might make them not want to deal with McKay again but I can't imagine there's an agent out there who isn't doing the same thing. This is basically all coming from that one article though so I'm perfectly willing to accept some of the things in it might be biased or factually inaccurate.2 points

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47329293 So it looks like Chelsea have cheated for well over a decade to get the best youth team on the planet then not played any of them in the first team1 point

Look at his calls for the MPs who have left the party to force by-elections as another example of his hypocrisy.1 point

Hes not cut out for the path he's chosen On a more serious note I am very much done with giving anyone political the benefit of the doubt, I'm fed up of doubts, it honestly cannot be that hard to appear competent.1 point

If any politician goes to speak to literally anyone right now without have a well thought out answer to the inevitable brexit question they're definitely thick. It just so happens a lot of them are.1 point

I wouldn't even bring Dimae in yet. Hayden's been playing alright with Longstaff in the middle and Huddersfield shouldn't be too tough an ask for those two.1 point

I’ve just found out that my Grandad’s brother played for Bishop Auckland, who were one of the best amateur sides in England. He played in the 1939 FA Amateur Cup Final, which they won 3-0, alongside one of his teammates, a Bob Paisley from Hetton-Le-Hole. Whale Oil Beef Hooked.1 point

The difference in batting styles in that ODI yesterday was really good to watch. I know the wicket offered very little for the bowlers and that could have made for a very boring game even with such a big total to chase. But the way we went about it I thought was exceptional. Admittedly their fielding was awful and their attack was anything but strong. The calls for Roy to be given a go in the test team are getting louder and louder now.1 point

Why should Jewish people do anything? Am I responsible for Israeli foreign policy? I detest Netanyahu but I don’t need some Scouse militant twat telling me what I should or shouldn’t be be doing. Being Jewish doesn’t directly connect you to Israel and to suggest otherwise is antisemitic - it’s like saying all Muslims are somehow responsible for Isis atrocities.1 point

Yes, that'd have to be in there too. The German system makes some sense - you cast two votes, one directly for your local constituency MP (i.e. for a person) and one for a party list. The parties have to get over five percent to be allowed into parliament, but the MPs elected directly in the constituency votes are allowed in regardless of their party. So you keep out some of the loonier factions that would otherwise get in on pure PR (like when the BNP got nearly 2% of the national vote in 2010) but allow for local concentrations of votes like for Caroline Lucas in Brighton, that Kidderminster Hospital campaigner who won as an independent that time etc. to be rewarded. (That's an oversimplified description and there are exceptions, but you get the general idea.) You'd have to tweak it to allow for Scotland/Wales/NI but it's not a bad compromise. And it deals with some of the concerns with PR about losing touch with your local MP, as constituencies are only twice the size they would be otherwise, which I think is all right.1 point
