I've read the letter, it basically goes without saying that her accusations against the Saudi regime are fair. Unfortunately its utterly groundless in its relation to Newcastle fans and largely incorrect in regards the wider footballing context too. Claim after claim about being "tempted" by this offer, as if its an offer made directly to fans. We need to THINK about accepting it apparently, as if that impacts anything in this situation. "The rules of the premier league do not allow the Crown Prince to own and control your club." This simply isn't a fact as stated and it remains to be seen whether the PL make that judgement, but that has nothing to do with us either. "Your voice will be so very powerful" Will. It. It doesn't cause any harm to sell weapons to Saudi Arabia to get some other stupid muslims killed, but beware of the threat to the general public because some arabs are able to watch british sports without paying for it.4 points

What makes you think that city would complain. We've been suffering this agenda shit since pep started winning big. The fact we're being done for FFP is a direct influence of that agenda! But hey from city fans welcome to the club, we need someone else to take this flak from the g14, I really don't think man city would be objecting.3 points

I was just thinking from a UAE/Saudi antipathy pov rather than anything related to football.2 points

There is surely no way that any PL club can possibly block this deal on the grounds of just being scared of the financial muscle. The only basis they'd have would be the piracy issue even if it's just a smoke screen. I still don't see how this doesn't go through really - even if there was something in the piracy stuff, how can the Premier League make that judgement outside of proper legal channels? Why would it risk that?2 points

So why do the BBC keep pushing this? A state run broadcasting company. A state that engages very enthusiastically with the Kingdom of Saud quite happily when it comes to weapons etc.2 points

I honestly was refreshing Twitter a lot a week or so ago, but I’ve sacked off doing that. It’s just nonsense now, the Chronicle is among the worst offenders as they just tweet out the same story almost hourly.1 point

Also, it's being delayed by parties wanting to use the attention for their own agendas. Some of them have every right to do it (Khasoggi's widow) and others are just cunts (Giles Watling). The rights issue will surely be resolved to everybody's satisfaction when a Saudi broadcaster win the rights for the MENA region in 2022?1 point

Parts of it do feel like papers trying to generate clicks over a story that naturally doesn’t have much information leaking. Weren’t the Mail one of the main ones pushing the ‘it’ll be approved this week’ story last weekend? now they’re pumping out all these stories about delays and throwing the process in turmoil, I wouldn’t be very surprised to see them going back to ‘it’ll be approved this week’ on Saturday or Sunday. If it’s rejected it’s pure agenda to preserve the “top” teams and stop another Manchester City barging in. There wasn’t a real reason to reject them based on the actual test, I remember seeing quotes from the prior PL head that if you can legally open/own a business in the UK then the PL tests won’t stop you owning a PL club, this would be finalized if this deal was for Manchester United or Liverpool.1 point

Aye thats a weird one. Surely every competing club doesn't want any other competing club to be taken over by wealthier or more ambitious owners.1 point

I also don’t understand all these journalists running stories about rival PL clubs opposing it. They surely cannot have any say, otherwise you’re allowing them to have a say in the future and ability of a direct rival.1 point

It’s like they’ve serialised one ordinary sized interview as several instalments Nowt against her, obviously, and she clearly has grounds for her opposition to the Saudi regime, but why are they flogging this like a dead horse? As I’ve mentioned before, why isn’t her view on Britain’s and the West’s relationship with that regime more pertinent? It’s fucking pathetic journalism1 point
