There's 20 PL games and the FA Cup to play yet. Plus a transfer window and 4 or 5 players to come back from injury. Calling the season a "write-off" is ridiculously defeatist.

Aye it's genuinely ruining the game. The only time I don't mind is when it goes in our favour. Every other time I watch that bullshit - even in games where I don't care who wins or loses - I just find it so irritating that you've got some blokes in a room actively trying to rule goals out by one or two pixels. They've clearly made things worse.

We should have finished 6th last season. Then we wouldn’t be gutted for not finishing 4th again this season, which, let’s by honest, was always going to tough to achieve two seasons on the bounce when we’re less than three years into the project. We still could finish 4th. But if we end up 6th or 7th it isn’t the end of the world.

This is the first time I've watched us this season and thought that the performance was a bit inexcusable. I think there's been mitigation for most of the other bad ones, but not this against these lot. I mean it's turned into just chaos now which is perfect for them, but early on in this one we basically let them get ahead.

I really don’t understand the constant bashing of Miggy. He does have poor days and can be frustrating but hardly more than most other players in the squad. Imho his contribution to our positive results is most often underestimated. Game is frustrating and demonstrating that we are having a bad tine at the moment with things not going our way. Referee is poor but the result is rather more down to us lacking confidence. It us a shame because we could have needed a couple of positive results before going into a difficult January. I am close to writing this season off already.

I think this is key and something the players can't give anymore with the amount of games they've been asked to play (in the way we do). One thing is clear if we get in Europe again is that we need 22 players of high quality or to change the way we play and buy better technical players.

One of the great days

It was brilliant to finish 4th to get this year’s experience with playing in a group of death and just go out mainly because of the dodgiest decision I have seen for a long time. Not finishing in the top 6 won’t be a disaster and this is what I mean with “writing this season off” already. There is still a lot to play for obviously. January will really be difficult and you need luck to win the FA cup with draws and who you play. The mackems will be very motivated against us do this won’t be easy as well. This doesn’t mean that we can’t have a very good second half of the season once injured players are back and maybe with one or two shrewd additions. If we have a second half of the season like Villa did last season or we had ourselves two seasons ago then there is still a lot possible. But I do not expect it and as long as we keep playing like we have done this season for most games then this is fine with me.
