  1. If we're going with 30 seconds, they absolutely have to play the Countdown music in the ground. Fans singing along and a brand new moment of celebration on the "boooooo" sound as the clock runs out.

  9. This is like two threads in one. I, personally, am enjoying the Carol Vorderman chat much more than the VAR chat. Can the mods please employ some technical wizardry to split this into two threads so us middle aged desperados know which thread to spend our time in?

  12. As I've said before, if everyone voted Labour despite misgivings and unhappiness with certain policies, then Labour would never be motivated to change the way they operate. They would simply stay where they are. Withholding my vote is the only way I can demonstrate to Starmer that his lies were unacceptable, and that he cannot take me for granted. So it's not even about thinking that we can just pop back into the EU at this point, it's that Labour are refusing to tell the truth on how damaging this has been, and that we need to walk it back. Until they do that, I won't vote for them - with the exception of if they push for voting reform. I can justify that vote to myself on the basis that it saves us from this binary nonsense which only serves to entrench stupid policies like Brexit. I'm not expecting I am noticed, or that I achieve anything with this. I simply can't not do it. It would be an erosion of my sense of self, and the values that are important to me. All for what? A vote that is meaningless for a party that won't notice either way, and will win without me. I'm better off preserving my sense of self since at least that is an impact I can feel. If you need this to make more sense in a pragmatic way than it does, my partner is European and we are struggling to find a way for her to be here, meaning that much of my life involves being separated from someone I care about. Now, I would have taken this stance anyway I like to think, but that specific reality does rather underline it. Labour have nothing to offer me that will make that any better. They just continue to spit in my face to placate fucking morons. I have no respect for that, and I won't vote for what I don't respect.

  13. The thing with the offside rule, is that no variation of it actually changes anything that we all hate about the offside rule. in line - ok so a millimeter out of line and you're offside daylight - ok so a millimeter of daylight and you're offside a yard off - ok so one yard and one millimeter and you're offside Everyones variation is just moving the margin because there has to be some point where you're off vs not off. VARs shifted the debate to shit about the lines and whatnot but we still spent 50% of every match of the day or whatever moaning about marginal offsides before VAR, nothings actually changed. The number of cameras at the top level of the game now ensures that we are trapped in this endless debate forever.

  21. Aye she’s pure filth ever since she hit her golden years. Getting her back blown out by numerous younger lads. She needs to just be honest about the surgery though, no one is buying it, she went from flat arsed and chested to Kardashian as soon as she hit her 50s

  25. Offside law is to prevent an unfair advantage. When you're getting into millimetres it's not really a strong case that the attacker had an unfair advantage. Daylight is an unfair advantage and not from the torso, the shoulder or the knees. It should be trailing foot Vs leading foot.

  26. I actually think the article has a point but because it’s Julie Burchill, she’s used a shit example (that she’s also needed to lie about), introduced (probably made up) anecdotes, said middle class white women on these marches actively support Hamas and brought the culture war into it. With zero nuance. All the while playing to the equally smug readership of The Spectator. Which should tell you much she really cares about antisemitism relative to her being “controversial”, ie actually predictably dull as fuck and completely unhelpful. On the other hand I totally get where Gloom is coming from and antisemitism being relatively acceptable. There has to a recognition (imo) that it can be really difficult and scary to be a British Jewish person in the current climate. Whatever Israel does as a state does not make that remotely ok

  27. I actually think the opposite of the proposed context is true in that video. The bloke turned up and the copper is effectively saying he can’t control the crowd if they see a bloke in a yarmulke walking through them. If anything, he’s suggesting there are cunts in the crowd who will attack him if he carries on. His wording was absolutely shite, but I genuinely took that he was trying to protect the fella from harm.

  29. It was one copper who was trying to keep the peace and inadvertently said something stupid. I've seen people calling for the chief of Met police to resign over this ffs. The bloke wasn't just crossing the road. He was stood in a yarmulke, flanked by a security guard in the middle of a Palestinian protest. And that article is a shit show btw. The first paragraph suggests left wing luvvies are marching in support of Hamas. Are they fuck. They're marching in support of 45k dead Palestinians.

  35. Keep the goal line stuff, that isn't a problem, have a quick look at the offside, if it doesn't look a clear and obvious error by the linesman the var official shuts the fuck up. Anything needing silly lines drawn on isn't a clear and obvious error so on field decision stands. It's absolutely killing football and football right now needs all the help it can get with the protectionist rules they currently have in place to stymie competition.
