  2. Well Queens Park Rangers do have a Queen in their name and the Queen used to live at the Palace, so yeah I can see how you did that 😂

  3. I hope Ratcliffe turns up to the arbitration the same way he's turned up to all of the interviews on this question, armed with only his arrogance and entitlement, cos I'm sure our lot will be doing their homework and making sure we've got our arguments in place. There's a good chance this ends with us getting less than we're currently asking for, but I would think it'll be closer to our figure than theirs and hopefully still with restrictions around the next transfer window. I can't quite put into words how much I want Ashworth to fail at Man United though, he's behaved poorly throughout as far as I can see. Takes a bit to get Howe to lower his super professional guard, and he couldn't be clearer about how he thought the bloke was behaving.

  7. Just a thought, is this thread some form of Yorkie black op, we're playing a team from Yorkshire and the thread's been started by someone actually in Yorkshire..... Makes you think 🤔

  8. I’m really enjoying it mind. The Man U fans are in a massive melt down how unreasonable Newcastle are being saying no one will want to work for us now. So Man U go directly to an NUFC employee, who has important insider knowledge of the club, and create a position where his role is untenable, then they launch several public attacks at Newcastle (including insulting the people running the club) before supposedly offering around 10% of his clause. In reaction to all of the above Newcastle have simply asked the terms of the contract be met, some rumours state they may have even shaved 25% off the fee (despite having no reason to do so), and this makes us unreasonable? Maybe the correct approach would have been to show some fucking respect, approach the club immediately and negotiate from there? You know like we did with Brighton and we still ended up paying £6m and him having 8 month or so leave…

  9. Bruno's da is driving around in his taxi with a big sarnie board on top "FOR SALE - 26 Y/O BRAZILIAN INTERNATIONAL CENTRAL MIDFIELDER. £100M NO OFFERS. NO TYRE KICKERS."

  11. It's why IMO the PL in its current format is finished. Bruno should not have to be sold to comply with artificial rules that do not account for owner's wealth. It's the Saudi sovereign wealth fund - the richest on the planet - not some dodgy millionaire. Simon Jordan's suggestion about rewriting the rules and bringing levels of taxation into play is a good idea, but six clubs effectively rule the roost.

  14. This seems like it would be good in the short term but bad in the long term. I hope that football doesn't go down this route but it seems like the Americanised bullshit is here to stay and only getting worse. It means that teams with basically no supporter base will potentially become juggernauts and compete for titles on the basis of zero history or support (except for bandwagon jumping nonces) because their competition is hampered. An example is the Melbourne Storm in the Australian NRL. They're a wonderfully run club that poaches numerous Queensland players from the Brisbane region and has dominated the upper end of the competition ladder for a decade or more on the back of a good coach, solid planning and preferential treatment from the NRL administrators in the interests of "breaking into the Victorian market". Sounds great to have more competitive teams. But that's not how it plays out in practice. Melbourne Storm is strong because a big problem for them has been removed, i.e., market share relative to the other teams and pathways for local talent to come into the team. A salary cap allows them to sidestep these issues. But the benefits they enjoy are not diminished, i.e., support from the game's administrators, a nice place to live for prospective players, an experienced coach for whom players want to play, a recent history of success that draws players there on the chance of winning silverware, etc., the list goes on. And you might say that some (or even all) of these benefits are earned. But so is a revenue advantage in the broader sense of club history and development (at least in the vast majority of cases). So why is one type of advantage deemed unfair and others are allowed to remain? It's obviously because a "salary cap" system is really just a marketing gimmick to promote a "competitive" competition. But I would argue that it isn't any more competitive than other sports. The same teams come to dominate for years or even decades because of factors that are not dependent on a salary cap. A salary cap system, for me, produces an artificial and largely illusionary equality because, although money is a massive factor, it is not the only factor. And if you equalise the salary spend, then those other factors will simply become the new reason for an uneven competition. And many of these factors simply can't be controlled. Then other measures come into play. For example, if your team is in an undesirable location -- simply move the team to a better location. And, thus, the franchise system of the American sporting leagues, which has also happened in Australia with teams with rich traditions being upended and moved thousands of kilometres away. At the end of the day, you can't control everything but it seems like more and more that it is the perceived remit of the game's administrators to act like they can do so. It's pure arrogance built on the back of corporate greed and the opportunistic pursuit of a quick buck. I would prefer an officiating body that does less and professes to know as little as possible because this sort of shit is short-sighted nonsense initiated by self-congratulatory blowhards who have been in the game for ten minutes and act like they fuckin' know everything. Football was fine for the few hundred years it existed without any of this crap. Not to be the old man in the room complaining about the good ol' days and whatever but it really boils my piss that the mega-rich have to come in and spoil everything with their "campaigns" and marketing spin crap. Does absolutely everything that belongs to the people have to be taken away in the interest of the almighty dollar?

  16. Our record win is 13-0 in 1946. But, given how much the game has changed since then, we should probably temper our predictions accordingly. 16-0. Hat trick for everyone. ‘Appen.

  20. They did the same at SJP last season when Miggy destroyed them by constantly putting their keeper under pressure. Despite shipping goals for fun they still tried to play out from the back because it's the only tactic he has. When it works well it's great for them, but when it doesn't they tend to get beat, heavily.

  21. Did you see the third goal last night? Brighton doing a passing drill in their own box whilst swarmed by Man City players. "But he sticks to his PRINCIPLES! You have to admire that." But FOUR NIL! No I don't.

  27. Looks like Matt Ritchie is coming for MF's job. TBH if I had to chose one of our current players who seems like they'd enjoy murdering hookers and burying them in the woods then Ritchie is the first that springs to mind.

  29. Purely on gut feeling, I think he’ll stay another year. But I also think we’ll spend in excess of £200m on squad improvements this summer (and also have Tonali back) if he does go. PSG would be much better than seeing him line up against us in the league as well

  30. I distinctly remember the commentators/pundits wanking themselves daft over Brighton, and we were coming off a bunch of shitty results, including getting shagged by Villa so they were all praying we'd collapse again only for Brighton to completely shit the bed. It was glorious
