I thought Butt had a canny game. Ryan Taylor is as bad as any player we've had in about the last 15 years. I think Guthrie and Butt are both capable of doing a similar job, just that Guthrie is a better passer of the ball imo. Fair enough but I can't understand why anyone would want Taylor in the side. Guthrie is far better than him imo. Guthrie is better than Taylor aye, but who would we stick out on the right?

Lovenkrands is more an impact player imo. Gutierrez did a good shift out on that left. It's Butt I'm more worried about, I'd be inclined to possibly bring Guthrie in the centre and stick out Ryan Taylor on the right.

Don't think Martins has 90 minutes in him at present tbh. Perfect decision bringing him off the bench and I'd be inclined to do the same against Fulham. Good point, but Owen imo was a passenger for the majority of the game. Martins held the ball up, made runs etc which helped us. Owen hasn't been doing of late.

I thought he was going to be a magnificent buy, but really it turned out such a waste of 10.2M. Bassong and Stevie Taylor are our best bets at centre half, that is, we do managed to keep a hold of the two of them.

I'm delighted, really delighted. The 3 points are massive, and hopefully we can take this momentum to the next game against Fulham. In regards to Michael Owen, he shouldn't be started upfront again this season imo. Martins and Viduka worked better imo and Lovenkrands pace helped us out a lot and got us 2 goals. Fulham is a must win game and a draw at Aston Villa would be nice.

Finally, Lovenkrands is coming on, pace pace pace.
