  1. you really think Ashley will sanction a move for a 34 year old with no resale value who will command at least £30k per week - I DON'T !!!!
  2. sums up how i feel. we're pretty well placed to mount a promotion challenge as things stand but a lot can still change between now and when the transfer window shuts. nightmare scenario come sep 1st is ashley still in charge, half our first team squad sold and no decent replacements brought in. That then results in us losing a fair few games and ending up lower mid table with further reduced attendances come January, Ashley shits himself at how little money is coming in and as a result sells the remaining squad replacing them with kids on YTS. do you delight in being miserable or what ??
  3. aye, when we're 9 points clear at end of September, I will expect an apology ok ?
  4. According to a pal whose cousin works on the admin' side, 27000 s/t's have been sold {amazing effort} of which 14000 were the 3 year deals put out last season and for which the money has already been taken {and spent no doubt}. Box sales are well down on last season allegedly. That means around £7m of new money from 13000 normal tickets at ave of £550 a piece. This will already have been eaten up in the closed season between May and August by wages, pay offs etc Foot fall/pay at gate customers for y'day's game was approx 10,000 at ave of £25 per ticket = £250,000. The average weekly wages that are paid out still run at £900k per week IF a paper is to be believed which stated that the annual wage bill has been reduced from £70m to £45m so far. Barry Moat must have balls of steel if he is going to pay £70m to FMA - htf can he hope to make money ?? If it wasn't for the £11m parachute payment, we' be totally fkd.
  5. regarding loan deals are - Free agents can be signed by a club at any time in the season, if they had been released by their previous club before the end of the transfer window. A club can request to sign a player on emergency basis, ie if several goalkeepers are injured at the same time. In England, clubs from the Football League Championship to the Football Conference can loan in players from 8 September to 23 November and also from 8 February until 23 March. An existing loan deal can be made permanent at any time outside the transfer window.
  6. you must feel such a prat today
  7. fair point mate, but everyone is assuming that another 5/6 players will be moving out just because the papers say so. the post speculating about Taylor being on his way just because he looked sad after the final whistle - pure conjecture. IF 5/6 more do go and are only replaced by young uns on loan deals etc, then my optimism might be dampened, but until it happens, what is wrong with being upbeat ?? most teams in this division are very average/mediocre - who would disagree with this ? what makes it a tough league is the 46 league games plus a few cup games - it is demanding both physically and mentally - it is not tough because of strong teams with class players ffs !! the way things stand at present, Colocinni, Xisco and Spider would not really be missed - IF the likes of Taylor, Krul and Carroll go, that would be far more worrying. yes, and Reading were shite, but they got a play off place last season which tells it's own story.
  8. why, just because my pint is half full ? bet you are a real fun person to have at parties. stop building the CCC as some really difficult league where cloggers reign supreme. the fact is that most of the 24 teams have very little quality - anyone that shows promise is whisked away in to the premier. just name me 6 teams that will finish above us and we'll see who the clown is.
  9. How old are you?? 16?? This league is anything but a piece of piss. 48 mate and I have watched a lot of CCC games over the last 3 seasons to KNOW this division is CRAP - if the current squad can be more or less kept together, the title will be won with 6-10 games to spare. And, I will be backing that up in the bookies.
  10. on £50k per week or more. Geremi/Butt/Nolan - £50k Smith/Colo/Gutierrez/Barton £60k Buying NUFC must be much more attactive to potential suitors now. If the unwritten rule about wages not being more than 70% of turnover is right, then it is just about sorted. Est turnover this coming season is around £50m and 70% is £35m which is what the current wage bill is or thereabouts. Can't see many more players being offloaded now unless they are desperate to go and there won't be any given the wages they are on.
  11. Hull are supposed to be after him too. Thinking about it though he's not going to be playing to get back in to an international team, the money would likely be around the same - where would you rather go? In a shit team in the Prem where you might struggle or a bigger team in the Championship and look awesome? The dude's at the back end of his career, I know which I'd choose. it's a perfect move for him as he has a house up here and his lass is from N'land. This is a done deal imo.
  12. Whether or not Ashley sells before 31/8 or not, this season is going to be a piece of piss. I said this in earlier posts and got shot down - who's having the last laugh now eh ? The CCC is very very poor with no one to match even the threadbare 16 man squad that is currently in operation. The midfield is as solid as owt with Butt and Guthrie to cover Nolan/Barton/Smith/Spider. The defence looks solid enough and the cover is there now with Simpson and even Geremi plus Kadar is ready to come in. Upfront, Carroll looks the part, whilst CCC is Ameobi's level - he'll get 15-20 this season easy. The club will be sold this week and changes will occur just in time so its onwards and upwards - nee bother.
  13. he can't ride on the back of George Graham and get the kudos here man like he did at Leeds. did sweet fa at Villa cheque book manager and a poor one at that. Coppell or Curbs are the only sensible ones to go for if promotion is the aim
  14. Duff goes to Fulham, allowing Gutierrez to move to the left - his favoured position, allowing Ryan taylor to go to right midfield with Simpson going right back. Makes the team more predictable as Duff had a good 2nd half last week and looked to be going past people like he used to. If Guti' goes as well soon, the service to the front 2 will be non existent unless one of the Spurs loanees on their way is a winger ?? ps how does Geremi look in the mirror in the morning ? Possibly 2/3 seasons left in him and yet prepared to settle for playing in the Ressies at Bradford and Rotherham. Shameful. Pay up his contract ffs and just get rid.
  15. boycotts are the only way to force the issue but 'fans' never see the bigger picture and insist on going regardless out of misguided loyalty which is ultimately helping the current. To those whingers who are still paying their hard earned cash to Ashley, take a good look in the mirror ffs.
  16. Name Age P No. Apps G Y R Shola Ameobi 30k Joey Barton 60k Nicky Butt 50k Andrew Carroll 10k Fabricio Coloccini 60k Ryan Donaldson 5k Damien Duff 60k Jose Enrique 40k Geremi 50k Danny Guthrie 30k Jonas Gutierrez 60k Steve Harper 30k Tamas Kadar 10k Tim Krul 10k Kazenga LuaLua 5k Kevin Nolan 50k Nile Ranger 10k Alan Smith 60k Ryan Taylor 30k Steven Taylor 40k Francisco Tejeda "Xisco" 40k Ben Tozer 5k Frank Wiafe Danquah 5k Fraser Forster 5k Zamblera 5k Still running at £40m+ so still some outgoings to come. When will this nightmare end ?
  17. must have taken you ages to think that one up - ignorant tosser.
  18. your point regarding the embargo etc seems sound enough, but it all depends on whether Ashley is prepared to come down on the price - the biggest offer is less than £60m allegedly so thats another £40m hit. He has a reputation for not backing down in business and unless the consortia are prepared to gamble more millions, then nowt is going to get sorted. It's all brinkmanship at the moment - interested parties know Ashley is between a rock and a hard place and are hanging on in the hope that the nearer it gets to Aug 5th, the more likely he is to buckle - but MA doesn't buckle so its a stand off that does no one any good. Every week that goes by is costing Ashley £2m approx so it can't go on forever, but whether common sense replaces stubborness and ego remains to be seen.
  19. long live freedom of speech eh ?
  20. people up has been seriously knocked by yesterday's result. Even though it was a friendly, that was shocking. Alan Oliver's piece in the People is very depressing reading IF TRUE, and very soon the mutiny that erupted in 76-77 when the players ganged together to ensure Dinnis got the job, is going to look childs play in comparison as you get the feeling that things are boiling up inside the camp. 2010 is World Cup year as well and there'll be a few sweating that their places are going to be in danger by playing in the CCC. A squad full of unhappy players isn't going to get the play offs. Grim reality is biting now. What a shambles - not even the Mackems could have screwed things up so badly despite all the practice they've had over the last 50 years.
  21. they were just making a point to Ashley man !! seriously though, what it needs to speed things up is for Hughton and Calderwood to resign leaving the club totally rudderless and for ALL the players to hand in transfer requests - I'm sure someone has the nous to be able to ring Ashley's Head office, get a fax number etc. this would shake Ashley up and perhaps make him more minded to accept either the £48m cash offer on the table or the structured deal that could give him his £100m IF things go to plan for the US consortium.
  22. thought it was a perfectly decent question to ask - whats the problem like marra ??
