  1. and this board will be full of happy campers again.
  2. you've got to admit that getting a spawny point at a top 6 side despite playing crap is a 'right result' as the cockanees would say. forest have lost at donny so what's the problem ?? coventry and preston to come - 6 points and a boost to the gd - what could be better ? I admire your optimism and for much of the season i kinda secretely agreed in a way but come on mate look at our form from december...not the form of league champions is it? Im normally an optimistic guy but atm im finding it hard to even be slightly optimistic. The homes games are going to be high pressure games...we could fuck up again tbh. the 'problem' with your logic is this. promotion will be achieved just by winning the remaining home games - all the away games could be drawn or lost and it still won't alter the fact that promotion cannot fail to be achieved. like nearly all teams that have come to SJP this season, they are beaten before they start - they walk out on the pitch, look up at the stands and the bottle goes. as long as 'fans' don't start giving the players a hard time at the first sign of a misplaced pass, probably every home game will yield 3 points. only forest and sheff utd to play out of the top 8 at home. lots of easy away games coming too, tho' Boro could be a problem. forest are having their wobble after a great run and who is to say they havent shot their bolt ? people need to get a grip - less than 2 weeks ago, Cardiff were being annihilated but that seems to be forgotten due to 2 below par performances away. still 100% convinced of promotion and title - no amount of abuse will make me change my stance. One good game doesnt confirm shit mate....we were poor before that game and been arguably even more poor after it. Your logic in theory should be good if we were a good side but we are not, far from it...yes we SHOULD win our home games and yes we SHOULD get at LEAST a draw away at most sides but it has shown that when our playing squad and more importantly our backroom staff (regarding good tactics) is not capable of consistency then we can not apply that logic. look, if you and most others on this board are happy to worry unnecessarily and lose sleep, go ahead but you won't find me doing it.
  3. what do you want me to do like, come on slagging them off just for losing a game ? it is human nature to jump on the negatives of anything in life - that is not my nature. I prefer to be positive - not illogically positive, but positive. This season has been a complete surprise for most people who expected a season of toil and strife, but as the 'fire sale' was nowhere near as clinical as everyone thought it would be, I knew the squad - albeit a small one until January, was way too good for the sh%te in the CCC and so it has proved. yep, lots of grinding performances, but plenty of guts, determination etc which was so sadly lacking last season. PROMOTION IS COMING SO DEAL WITH IT.
  4. having just watched that game amongst the swansea fans, i must say i have never felt so embarrassed or apologetic! jesus what a useless bunch, the absolute lack of passion, ability to pass or keep the ball reminds me too well of last season. Promotion? no chance surely 60 points from 30 games = 2 points per game 46 games x 2points = 92 = title = premiership = bags more dough = better quality players in = survival in prem = even more dough = more quality players in = etc etc etc............

  6. havent you being trotting this line out since the season began ? 30 games in to the season and still to be 'undone' ??? give yer heed a shake man.

  8. play crap and get a point at a team in the top 6 - rejoice man 2 piss easy home games coming up now and forest crumbling - its in the bag.
  9. Premiership next season ? Cos it is looking very likely, and most SAFC workmates are convinced the nightmare scenario {for them anyway} is going to happen. Some even wishing Quinn had appointed Allardyce before he gave it to Spraggia {??} !! Must be bad down there ! fwiw - a season without a derby game is not a proper season imo
  10. Derek Llambias you crack me up ! No, def' not DL mate - perish the thought. As for gloating why ? Just genuinely knew how poor the teams in this division were going to be and so it has proved. Aye, you've got nowt to gloat about really. You said Ameobi would get 20 this season easy, the club would be sold in August, and we'd win the league with 10 games to spare. 1 out of 3 aint bad man

  12. and to think, some jokers on here feared the worst - ie getting beaten by the Taffs. promotion is guaranteed - have been saying this since season began the limited fire sale before season began was nowhere near big enough to render the squad incapable of getting results against such weak opposition week in week out the january window dealings have cemented the title imo and just a shame there will be no 'derbies' next season
  13. how man, the youth defence could play and not concede - Cardiff are crap ffs - easy 3 nil
  14. rose tinted specs - there were plenty games in the 70's and early 80's when players used to get terrible stick - Cassidy, Oates, Shinton, Rafferty, Whitehurst, Gibb etc etc. you are right in saying it only used to take the slightest spark to ignite the crowd and once it got going, it was LOUD even with no roof over both ends and esp when the leazes still had a roof. dont criticise the fans man - averaging 40,000 in the CCC - superb effort. Sticking his two fingers up at the crowd had nothing to do with it did it? My Newcastle started in 1985 anyway so I know fuck all about the 70s apart from you were all ugly cunts. aye, but the abuse he got from the paddock had been unreal !

  16. aye but at least their poor run is in the Premiership - making daft comments like this tends to come back and bite you on the arse.
  17. did you watch the match yesterday? if we keep that form up, we will not be promoted. aye, it was crap, but it was an away point - could have been 3 but a draw away from home and a win at home = the title won by a country mile. the wrong team was put out - everyone knows that but when Cardiff get tonked on Friday it will be all forgotten
  18. you can't honestly say Carroll is crap - young, still lots to learn but bags of potential and I tell you what, if CH said he was available, 3/4 teams in the prem would come in for him. Ranger is hit and miss but time on his side. Ameobi should have been peddled seasons ago - 1 good game every 5 not good enough Lovenkrands should never be played as a winger - should be played thru the middle every time and he will get goals Nolan - was totally anonymous last season, hit a purple patch this, but has gone off the boil again - when he isnt scoring, he doesnt do enough for me.
  19. nee need for that - and btw that is an eroneous statement. wheres the defeat coming like ? CARDIFF ?? nee chance.
  20. Carroll and Lovenkrands should ALWAYS be the first choice strikers and a 4-4-2 formation should always be played in this league full of mediocrity and crap. There is no excuse for 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 - there will be plenty of time for that next season.
  21. be achieved ? I was ALWAYS confident and got pilloried for it, but this window has made it even more certain. Many unbelievers were convinced Ashley would offload players that were becoming key such as Smith and Nolan and, that he wouldn't invest. How wrong they were. Probably in the region of £4m spent on Routledge {2], Williamson [1.5] and Simpson [0.5], plus £15k per week in wages combined for Van Aarholt and Hall, with no cuts whatsoever - not even Geremi. Still may see someone like Vaughan coming in soon too. Ashley is a business man and realises guaranteeing promotion, will see his small investment paid back in spades. It is totally and utterly in the bag now - a bit of strength in depth now, so no danger of even finishing 2nd imo. It hasn't been pretty, and the have been some poor team selections, but barring a spate of injuries, it is in the bag. Surely no one disagrees ??
  22. to be looked forward to, or would an early exit at Plymouth be preferred ? My view would be to go for it and not start resting players as it would take a catastrophic injury list to derail the title bid. Having had more than a fair share of injury list pile ups over the last couple of seasons, better luck on that front is well overdue. This season has been ok regarding that so perhaps Lady Luck will continue to smile.
  23. Fair enough, but out of the remaining 25 games, who is going to get any points at SJP ? The biggest threat are WBA who are defensively a bit suspect. Cardiff ? No chance. Forest ? Possibly but unlikely. Away from home ? Which teams have the firepower to trouble the back 4 with Smith/Butt or both infront ? Few if any. Take if from me, the title is a ''given'' - the challenge is to have the boys from Wearside sweating over their 105 points target !!
  24. this season ? Now that the dust has settled after all the crap that has gone on since May, and the noises are that no one who doesnt want to go in January won't be sold, can NUFC get through to 46 games wothout dropping another 15 points ? Virtually impregnable at home, and effective away, why can it not happen ? The squad is nowhere near as thin as people made out at the start, esp' as the likes of Ranger and Kadar have shown they can do a job at this level. Yes, injuries will occur, but they will for WBA, FOREST, CARDIFF as well. No doubt I will be accused of being overly optimistic as always by those who don't understand how weak most Championship squads really are both quality and quantity wise, but I think it is do able - very do able.
  25. not a chance in hell of that happening. MIDDLESBROUGH have never been important - a victory over them is never celebrated any differently to Coventry or Burnley being beaten. Not being unduly disrespectful, thats just the way it is. Not even beating Barcelona 3-2 was better than beating Sunderland 2-0 under Keegan. They are without doubt the biggest game in the league for us when we are in the same division. Bigger than Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. Nothing compares to beating them in a derby - its just as important to us as it is to them. Taking the animosity of our rivalry out of the equation, Sunderland were at least the equal of Newcastle until they first got relegated in the late 50's. From then on, it was a yo-yo existence whereas we were quite consistent - never doing very much, but managing to retain top flight membership for most of the the time between late 50's and now. In very few of those seasons have Sunderland been on a par with us but whenever they play us it was always the big one. Sorry Boro, you really have meant nothing all the way through your existence, and never will. 2-0 tomorrow.
