  1. after him its not surprising when you look at his stats on wiki. Tremendous scoring record. Anyone seen him play ?? Will get the chance to see him Wed' night.
  2. got to agree with you again. Turnover will be at least £35m and this will increase when Shearer arrives as he will sell 10,000 s/t no problem. When he arrives other income will flow in via merchandising, box sales, footfall increase etc. £57m ? More media speculation. Everyone knows that the ''books'' will look bad and there are precious few real assets other than the players, but there is no chance he is going to let it go for £50m - no chance. Selling Beye, Martins and Bassong will bring in £16m alone. S. Taylor is worth another £6m, Colo £5m, Jonas £5m, Enrique £3m, Duff £3m, Nolan £3m, Barton £5m, Smith £4m, Guthrie £2m, R. Taylor £1m, Harper £2m, Carroll £1m, Ameobi £1m, Geremi nowt, Butt nowt, and Xisco £2m. Total worth of player assets = £58m. Training ground and land across from SJP = £10M ?? THERE'S NEARLY £70M FOR STARTERS. Someone's had their nose in the Tipp-Ex bottle tbh what exactly do you disagree with ??? ???? in the real world, beye in his 30's 1.5 -2m tops.................bassong 4.5-5m tops......................95k per week wages martins is'nt finding a buyer. you'd have to be on something stronger than tippex to think there's 16m worth there. Duff 3m with his wages????????? Really think you should think more along the lines of just getting them off the books without fees, the longer you keep shite on silly money the worse it gets. £65k per week marra - £16m for the 3 of them is realistic imo but we'll find out for sure in next few weeks.

  4. I'm not trying to "p*ss on your chips" marra but I think that you are missing something. The "fancy Dan" types are targeted in the CCC and rarely succeed, as they seem to think that they are too good to play there and don't put the same effort in as "lesser" mortals. Please don't forget that for most teams/players you will be their cup finals next season and (also) please don't forget the George Graham adage that you should never sign a player/include a player in a team that believes he is doing you a favour! To come back up needs a, totally, different type of player (and mindset) to the one that took a side down. This is one of the reasons that most relegated sides seem to change about 50% of their 1st elevens, replacing the more skillful with workers - Totally, ignoring the need to jettison high earners, because of revenue considerations! Also, nobody knows yet which of your players will, actually, be at the club when the season starts. So, on that basis, I think it is just too soon for, objective, predictions. Not "having a go" marra, just making an observation! topper post mate - just dont see why players won't go out on the pitch to try and win - I did on a Sunday Morning and had to pay £3 for the privilege !!
  5. awesome post mate, even if its a pisstake !! i'm just trying to be upbeat - the coming season is impossible to predict - could be a disaster, could be superb - the point is that the CCC is a crock of shit and half decent team will piss it.
  6. ffs get a grip. all he will do is go back to the bbc and await developments - it may even take til January 2010, but he will return, ther eis nothing more certain than that. If the club isn't sold by Aug 31 when the window shuts, it will be consolidation time until the sale route opens again before the new one opens by which time the club will either be more appealling to buyers as it is top/challenging making the chance of getting nearer to the asking price more likely, OR it is floundering, with money leaking out all owa the place making Ashley determined to get rid no matter what. still a chance of a sale before Aug 31, but the saga will def' end by Jan 31 2010 imo.

  8. Duff will do well at this level and Jonas will be long gone see Lua Lua on the right wing for most of the season myself, but same as last couple of years unless one of the youngsters steps up to the plate we haven't got a central midfielder capable of finding a black and white shirt with a pass of any description. If we lose most of the deadwood and some of the youngsters deliver at this level (if you've watched the stiffs lately there is a good chance they will) we have a very good chance of getting at least a play off berth. Make no mistake the Fizzy pop is a very very poor league! Exactly, but the way the whingers are on here are gannin on, you'd think it was Serie A ffs.
  9. aye, as when you get on to the pitch and face the opposition, you want to win no matter what is going on around you. you ever go out on a pitch on a Sunday morning not wanting to win ?? - I didn't and neither will they.
  10. when all those angry players were going to hand transfer requests in if Big Al wasn't appointed ?? Perhaps the rerspective agents have pulled them to one side said ''ffs lads don't go handing in written requests, it will cost ME a fortune'' ! Aye, they've really backed up Shearer - no jobs for them in Spartacus.
  11. I'm confident yes, but the thought of that blundering mare still being associated with the club with all the piss taking that it brings is just too much to bear. He is reported to be a very stubborn and tough businessman, so if the alleged consortia have been taking the piss with bids of £50m less than he wants, they have got no chance. He has £100m in mind for a reason and although he would probably be prepared to take £85m, there is no way he is going to have his pants pulled down by Yanks or Malaysians or Geordies.
  12. you a clairvoyant ??? Seen the Sun yet today ??!!
  13. My assessment is as posted elsewhere before. Allowing for Martins, Bassong and Beye to go, the back 5 of Harps, Taylor twins, Colo and Enrique will be far too strong for most attacks. The midfield of Duff, Barton/Smith, Nolan/Butt and Jonas/Guthrie will more than hold its own. Upfront, Carroll will prosper if given some decent ball, whilst the CCC is Ameobi's level. Ranger is ready to make the step up if Shola fails which he won't. Contrary to the doom mongers on here, I think there will be a real determination on the players part to make amends next season even with Hughton/Calderwood in charge. The title will not be won ''by a mile'', but it will be won as there is no one strong enough in the league to out do the above squad if only the 3 named are lost. If S. Taylor goes along with Barton and Duff, then it will be top 6 at best.
  14. alleged consortia being interested/bidding for the club. Been no speculation for what seems ages after being fed a diet of Singapore, USA, Shepherd, Malaysia. Next announcement to be ''although interesting bids have been received, none have matched MA's valuation and he has therefore decided to stick with it and see it through until promotion is achieved''. What a nightmare that would be, but it is looking possible - no news with 15 days to go to WBA
  15. WBA - good manager, but have lost a few players from last season - Robinson, Fortune, the loanee from Arsenal, and probably Greening. Def' top 6. BORO - losing what little quality they had and bringing in cheapos - accident waiting to happen - will be nearer bottom than top. CARDIFF - have strengthened and look to be top 6 material but if McCormack and Ledley go could just finish outside PRESTON - one season wonders - no chance of doing it again and have sold most influential player to Forest - 8th/9th for them FOREST - have brought in loads of players in complete revamp. Davies knows this divsion and for me def' top 6. READING - unproven but highly rated new manager. Need to replace a few and havent done so. Home record will ensure they are up there but if Hunt goes and isnt replaced, no chance of top 6. SHEFF UTD - very strong team physically and decent boss in Blackwell . Have made couple of decent signings, strong squad by CCC standards and top 2 for me. SHEFF WED - have made 3 good signings but still not strong enough to make top 8 - if Tudgay goes, they really will struggle again. LEICESTER - lots of additions and could be a surprise package. Good manager and passionate home crowd - just outside top 6 for me. IPSWICH - lightweight squad and have RK's volatility to upset the apple cart. Strapped for cash - may just scrape top 6 but will be close. DERBY - have hardly heard of any of their players, and signing lower division players - no chance of top 8. QPR - plenty money backing them, but wtf is Magilton doing managing them ? Couple of decent signings so far and may just make the play offs. BRISTOL CITY - very busy in transfer market with decent manager - def in with shout of play offs - dodgy ground to go to as well esp in the 70's and 80's. SWANSEA -will try and play football under Sousa but losing Scotland is a blow - top 10. The amount of no hopers is unbelievable - Scunthorpe, Coventry {sold all their best players so far !}, Plymouth, Peterboro, Barnsley {5000 allocation !!}, Doncaster, Palace, Watford and Blackpool. The Town top, Sheff Utd 2nd, WBA 3rd, Forest 4th, Bristol City 5th and QPR 6th. Nowt to beat man - roll on 16 days time.
  16. I disagree, it was lack of confidence mainly brought about by the turmoil at the club from September onwards and the mad appt of Kinnear. Players lacking in confidence can be perceived as not battling etc, but I saw no games where they lay down and died. Plenty of passion etc v Boro, Pompey, Chelsea etc - the overreaction due to the shock of going down is clouding people's judgement immeasurably. The current squad less Martins/Beye/Bassong will be fine - top 6 NEE BOTHER.
  17. won't be up for the ''physical battles'' that are supposedly coming their way in CCC ? Why would Butt, Guthrie, Nolan, the Taylor twins etc not be up for a game on a wet Monday night in Peterboro ?? There's as many cloggers in the PL as the CCC, and this myth that you have to kick your way out is total crap as anyone would know if you watched any CCC games on Sky last season. Yes, it is a hard season physically as there are 46 games plus at least 3 in the cup - not even this bunch of under achievers could lose in the 2nd round of the League Cup against 2nd/3rd Div' oppo', BUT even if the squad does lose martins, beye AND bassong, it is still way too good to be out of the top 6. The gloom and doom on here is ridiculous - last season was crap fair enough, really crap, but there's loads of wins to look forward to next season, visits to grounds not visited before or not for a long time and, the prospect of seeing them down the road fall flat on their arses yet again, with the Smoggies going thru to Div 2. See man, life aint that bad !!
  18. is an invention of the media to sell papers. Look at it logically. The drop in income from Sky is just over £23m - £22m from Sky in this country and £12m for overseas rights, less the parachute payment of £11m = £23m. Season ticket sales are already at 25,000 x average of £550 = £14m with the prospect of another 10,000 being sold when Shearer is appointed which he will be. There's another £5.5 m. Add to that match day walk in sales - away fans of all teams that play us on a Saturday will want to come plus our own fans - say another 5,000 @ £30 = £150k per game x 23 = approx £4m Northern Rock sponsorship was front end loaded so doesn't come in to play but match day sponsorship, entertainment, box sales etc will bring in the thick end of £10m - possibly more. Merchandising {not the new away top - have still to see one worn on the streets} another £5m. Turnover will be a minimum of £48m at present, but will increase at least 30% when things are sorted. This alleged £65m wage bill is a load of bollocks - do the sums yourselves - list the 19 recognised 1st teamers still here, est' the wages which are between £5k per week for Bassong and £70k per week for Colo, Duff and Spiderboy - its nowhere near £65m, nowhere near. There is a fiendish plot going on to undermine the club and and it won't work. Don't believe everything the media tells you - financial meltdown my arse.
  19. He'll be ok in the CCC no danger. Paying someone £70k pw to play in the CCC is madness though.
  20. Unfortunately yes It's going to be a fecking long and painful season on last nights evidence You must be joking fella and NO I am not a happy clapper or an ostrich or a recent escapee from a mental institution. The CCC is a total load of shite - I watched loads of it last season and f$$k me, if Wolves and Brum are the best then the rest must be woeful - and they are. Ok so that team I mentioned might have been crap last season - but it was in the PREMIER LEAGUE ffs. I challenge anyone to name 6 clubs that will keep this squad out of even the play offs - and don't just assume that players will go - NO ONE KNOWS. ASSUME = ASS OF YOU AND ME. If the likes of WBA, Smogs, Cardiff, Preston, Reading, QPR, Forest are all we have got to worry about, then no sleep will be lost here. BRING THE FECKER ON. Based on the assumption no one will leave, aye? Erm... Only 2 players have said they want to go - Beye whose replacement is R Taylor - adequate for CCC and Bassong the other. Bassong will be a miss but he's not Beckenbauer. Colocinni will be ok in the CCC - so a back 5 of Harps, Taylor, Enrique, Tayor and Colo. Which teams strikers are going to have a field day ??? GAN ON, NAME ME ONE.

  22. The back 5 and midfield will be as near as dammit to the one that plays at WBA although Duff will play left side. Martins upfront with Carroll if fit by then, otherwise Shola. Anyone else agree ?
  23. aye, from the Civil Service - thought that was right
