  1. exactly - if he sells out now, he is even more stupid than most people thought and that takes some doing !
  2. We'd get creamed in the prem with this side, no ifs or buts about it. That's why whoever (if indeed anyone does) gets control will have a huuuuuuge job trying to re-establish NUFC as a proper football side. Are you sitting comfortably, because I have a little story for you. 3 or 4 seasons back, a club called Sunderland got relegated with a measly 15 points. It looked like the end as the then chairman wanted out, they were hugely in debt and looked to be heading for oblivion. Then along came aload of paddies, put some dough in, made an inspired managerial appt at that time, and now they look as though they have a bright future with a class chairman, a rich owner that likes to be in the background, and are signing decent players, paying the wages which they never used to do, and paying big transfer fees which they never used to do. Does this not tell anyone how quickly things can change around ???? Many people on here seem to luxuriate in looking for things to be bad and go wrong - to rejoice in the bad things that are happening and may happen. I prefer to look at the many positives which is probably why I wake up in the morning looking forward to life unlike the hundreds of manic depressives on here. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and whilst there is light there, I am not going to be ground down by the doom mongers on here ??? !! And if we don't get any significant investment and/or Assley hangs on waiting for his £240m (price + debt + overdraft) what then? I really believe that Ashley thinks we will go up on a shoestring and that the club will be worth loads more when back in the prem. He would be mad to sell now unless he is getting his £240m back which I doubt. The loan system allows us to bring in 8 players during the season so whenever we hit problems on the injury front, we can dip in as and when. He knows that, and he also knows this division is shit. There isn't one team in this division capable of knocking it about like us - ok, we lacked a bit of punch upfront due to injuries, but the occasional bouts of slick passing almost brought reward eg Nolan's early miss. With the deadline passing and with Taylor, Smith, Nolan and Gutierrez still on the books, the future is bright.
  3. Actually that's not the case. We can only sign out of contract players after the deadline closes. FACT! Edit: Except in cases deemed an emergency by the league. Whatever that means. If the last day of a transfer window is on a weekend, the deadline can be extended to the following Monday at the request of those involved for business reasons.[14] The first shift of the deadline since its inception took place in summer 2008, when the deadline was extended by 24 hours to fall on Monday 1 September at midnight.[15][16] The transfer deadline in England was similarly extended to 5pm 1 September 2009, due to the August Bank Holiday. The German football league has announced to extend the January 2009 deadline to 2 February.[17] Free agents can be signed by a club at any time in the season, if they had been released by their previous club before the end of the transfer window.[14] A club can request to sign a player on emergency basis, ie if several goalkeepers are injured at the same time.[14] In England, clubs from the Football League Championship to the Football Conference can loan in players from 8 September to 23 November and also from 8 February until 23 March.[18] An existing loan deal can be made permanent at any time outside the transfer window
  4. The deadline is only significant for premier league clubs so don't get het up if no one is signed before 1/9 Actually that's not the case. We can only sign out of contract players after the deadline closes. FACT! Edit: Except in cases deemed an emergency by the league. Whatever that means. not according to the rules that I posted about earlier - bad news if you are right though
  5. apparently. Didnt do much for Wolves last season on loan.
  6. Hopefully we will get promoted (there's a loooooooooong way to go though). But if we do get promoted this season, how do you think we'll do in the Premiership next season with this side? With us back in the prem, there will be a lot more money around - we won't have the same side so its a daft question really
  7. This division is woeful, and even with a squad of 15 first teamers backed up with another 6/7 young hopefuls, promotion will be achieved very very comfortably. This is not arrogance or delusion - this is based on knowledge of the fact that we have far too much quality in a veritable sea of mediocrity. Your right ofcourse but the crowd outweigh the crowd. How is baseless optimism any better than baseless pessimism? All the signs point to our inability to compete in the long term in this league and you're still wanting a parade for winning a handful of games as the season opens. Wait until we've got 6 or 7 injuries to first-team players and we're out at Blackpool in the pissing cold fielding the likes of Ngo Baheng and Tozer and then try to tell me we have 'far too much quality.' We've played 5 league games. There are 46 in this league. Let's not break out the champagne yet. Do we have a first XI that is better than any other first XI in this league? We do and I have said it many times. But NUFC's continued success depends on too many factors to assume as blithely as the two of you are doing. You both direly need a reality check and I hope for our sake it doesn't come in the form of a 4-0 humping off Sheff U because Danny Simpson and Nile Ranger weren't up to it. But the "reality" at the moment is that we are playing well, beating teams, scoring goals and sitting two points clear at the top of the league. How do the above signs point to our "inability to compete in this league in the long term". While the squad depletion etc is well documented under Ashley, we still have a squad that most teams in this division would kill for. Who's to say we'll lose 7 first teamers in one go, are the other teams not going to lose 7 first teamers........ Even with our depleted squad I truly (not dillusionally) believe we are head and shoulders above most. I think it is nailed on that we will at least reach the play offs and would then strongly fancy us over a few games against anyone. There is also little point in optimists trying to convert pessamists (or realalists as they like to hide behind) and vice versa. But ffs stop threatening the poor lad with a banning whilst I am grateful for your 'support', please don't think I am so sensitive that the laughable criticisms of me actually ''hurt''. I am a big lad, 48 and been thru the really bad times - anyone remember Graeme Oates ffs ? so far, I have collected a couple of hundred pounds profit from backing my team against pitiful opposition and will continue to do so. I have watched a lot of CCC football and can only re-iterate how crap it is. We now have someone wetting themselves about how tougfh Cardiff are going to be. That's Cardiff who haven't been in the top flight for many many years. I can understand everyone feeling punch drunk after all thats happened over the last 3-4 months, and that pessimism abounds because of what MA has done, but trust me on this, as long as no more than 2 key players go, we will be promoted. By the time Cardiff come round we will have boosted the squad by 4 players - one has already signed today - Catchcart from Man Utd whom a mate says will be a star. chuck as much crap as you want at me, but when March comes around when we are promoted, I want an apology from all the unbelievers on here - that is if they have the bottle to apologise - but I won't hold my breath
  8. 1. so what if they have just come up from league 1 - they are one of the favourites to go up. 2. no.
  9. teams - what a joke. Another nice tidy sum to collect from the bookies tomorrow thank you very much. When will the non believers start to believe ? This division is woeful, and even with a squad of 15 first teamers backed up with another 6/7 young hopefuls, promotion will be achieved very very comfortably. This is not arrogance or delusion - this is based on knowledge of the fact that we have far too much quality in a veritable sea of mediocrity.
  10. tonight that he was told by a very good source that MA had taken the club off the market 2 weeks ago !! So all this New York/Moat/410 consortia crap is exactly that. He could well be wrong of course, but Howey stated it as fact on air.
  11. Martin Albrecthsen got released from Derby the other day as well. he must be great being released from Derby ffs
  12. Also, how the hell do they not know yet how long either player is going to be out for ffs ???
  13. Hang on - so Hughton is confident no one else will be sold following a meeting with Llambias - on Chris !!
  14. unacceptably below the belt - I demand a retraction and a fullsome apology.
  15. I am not saying that ffs. Overheard some lads in the boozer saying ''if we don't get anyone in before Tuedsa we are knacked as the window doesn't open again til January''. IF we do hit injury problems after Tuesday, all I am saying is that players can be brought in on loan to bolster the squad - so everyone shouldn't get all overly despondent if no one is signed before then. We have to face facts - loan deals and out of contract players are all we will going for. Ashley wants promotion on the cheap, and he knows he has a great chance of achieving this. The wage bill for staff inc players, admin etc still stands at £850,000 per week {45 million divided by 52} despite fire sales. Income from matchdays is only around £500,000 and that is roughly every fortnight, not every week. The £11m parachute payment only equates to £200,000 per week. He is still losing around £400k per week at present, so anyone who thinks transfer fees and big wages are going to be paid out whilst he is still in charge is living in cloud cuckoo land. I would guess that Lovenkrands wage demands are stopping the deal going through at present. We all know the situation is far from good, but it looks like the present squad will remain intact with no sales between now and Tuesday evening and it is too good not to go up. Leicester will be put to the sword just as Reading, Sheff Wed and H'field were, even if Ameobi, Carroll and Guti are missing and as ever, I have put my money where my mouth is at the bookies.

  17. we can still sign up to 8 players on loan after it expires, and, sign out of contract players like Lovenkrands. The deadline is only significant for premier league clubs so don't get het up if no one is signed before 1/9
  18. Swap deal for Nolan.... as for the other - Wycombe Wanderers he is a complete donkey - wtf would we want him for esp as Kadar is cover for Taylor and Colo
  19. why does everyone assume we will be the only ones to get injuries ?? every team will get the odd injury - at present, its Carroll and Barton, and next week it could be them back with Butt and Colo injured. it will be the same for Boro, cardiff, Sheff Utd. Haway man, lift the gloom and believe. Most of the other teams in the division have strength in squad depth you spacca. (8000th post ) DO THEY REALLY ??????????????? Name one side that does - go on, give us a laugh. Also, I find the awful word ''spacca'' extremely offensive - do you know of anyone close to you who is physically handicapped ? You think its funny ??? Get a f**kin life you shitferbrains.
  20. sorry mate only 5 days to go and it looks like nee one is going to nab any more players. what happened to Taylor to Everton, Colo to Espanyol, Enrique to Atletico, Gutierrez to Barcelona, Xisco to Santander, Smith to Blackburn, Nolan to Hull, Barton to Brum, Geremi to Besiktas, Carroll to WHU and Butt to Burnley eh ? I'll tell you - it was paper bollocks to try and cause more mayhem and upset. failed again if Ashey sells now, he is an even bigger chump than everyone thinks he is already. 2 league crowds of 35k and 43k - 3 wins and a draw against supposed top CCC opposition, the wage bill down to £45m pa from £72m, and a workable overdraft. in a years time he'll get double what he's asking now and yet he'd rather risk his money on ludicrous spread bets instead of guaranteeing another £100m by sitting tight and guiding us back to the PREM.
  21. top notch Everyone will get injuries and everyone has small squads - nee bother I tell ya. There's boro unloading Huth and Sanli and my sunlun mate reckons Johnson is signing for them before the deadline nailed on apparently
  22. Dunne about to go to Villa for £6m and Distin to Everton for £5m, so that's it over until January for him. I don't think anyone else will go between now and 2/9/09 which means what I have always said, this squad is too good in this shite league NOT to be promoted.
