  2. The week is just begining for me, now starting a 3 day stint at work.
  3. They are from Newcastle Under Lime.
  4. Mike Ashley's projected takeover of Newcastle moved a step closer to completion last night as the club confirmed that a "useful and constructive discussion" had taken place with the reclusive billionaire at St James' Park. Ashley is believed to have been negotiating to increase his share ownership in the club to 54 per cent, effectively giving him control. He made a sudden purchase of Sir John Hall's 41.6 per cent shareholding last week. Financial Dynamics, the public relations company handling Ashley's interest, refused to comment last night, while the club issued a short statement to the Stock Exchange. It read: "Further to the announcement by Newcastle United plc on 25 May 2007, the board of Newcastle United announces that there was a meeting with Mike Ashley and his team earlier today at which there was a useful and constructive discussion." West Ham were holding discussions last night with Newcastle captain Scott Parker over a proposed £7 million move to Upton Park - but only after fighting off late interest from Tottenham. The England international could be Alan Curbishley's first signing of the summer.
  5. NIGEL REO-COKER has begged Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce to end his West Ham nightmare. Reo-Coker is desperate to quit Upton Park and would love the chance to link up with Allardyce at St James’ Park. Big Sam, who continues to track Manchester City bad-boy Joey Barton, tried to land the England Under-21 skipper for Bolton last season but Hammers boss Alan Curbishley refused to let him go. Now, with Scott Parker on his way to East London, Reo-Coker wants a chance to fill the void. New Trotters boss Sammy Lee continues to keep tabs on the midfielder, 23, who is available for around £8million. His agent Tony Finnegan said: “Sam Allardyce knows how to get in contact with Nigel and we would welcome a call. “If Sam said he wanted to speak, Nigel would be on the train in a shot. It would be very interesting to see what his plans are for Newcastle.” Meanwhile, Mike Ashley’s Toon takeover moved a step closer last night when the club’s board agreed to consider his offer. A statement released to the Stock Exchange said: “The board of Newcastle United announces that there was a meeting with Mike Ashley and his team at which there was a useful and constructive discussion. “The board will now consider its response to the offer from St James Holdings Ltd.” Ashley owns a 41.6 per cent stake in the club after buying Sir John Hall’s shares. He will release a statement to shareholders next week detailing his vision for Newcastle. Stock Exchange rules say the 43-year-old must submit a formal takeover bid. He is hopeful of further progress by the end of next week.
  6. Mike Ashley, the billionaire attempting to buy Newcastle United, visited St James' Park yesterday morning to discuss his offer with the current hierarchy. Although it is understood Newcastle's chairman, Freddy Shepherd, was not present, Ashley is thought to have visited him in hospital, where he is suffering from pleurisy and is now considering his Newcastle future. Yesterday Newcastle's plc company announced to the Stock Exchange that a meeting between "the Board of Newcastle United" and Ashley had taken place, adding: "There was a useful and constructive discussion. The Board will now consider its response to the offer from St James Holdings Limited." SJHL is the company Ashley formed to buy Newcastle and which bought 41.6% of the club last week from Sir John Hall. There was a degree of turbulence within Ashley's Sports Direct business yesterday when the chairman, David Richardson, resigned, a move that stirred the City of London, but Ashley's appearance in person at St James' will be viewed as a sign of the 42 year-old billionaire's intent. Ashley is obliged to offer the same £1 per share to all other shareholders and Shepherd, who owns approximately 29% of Newcastle, must consider afresh a bid that will net him about £40m. Shepherd is known to feel betrayed by Hall's secret deal with Ashley but his anger does not mean he has room for manoeuvre. Newcastle said that they will make a further announcement in due course but if Shepherd was informed yesterday that Ashley has guarantees that would take him past the 50% mark then Newcastle know Ashley is in a powerful position. Along with Manchester City's Joey Barton, Mark Viduka is expected to soon join Newcastle. Out of contract after three seasons with Middlesbrough, the 31-year-old was close to joining Newcastle last August. His signing at St James' will be a severe disappointment to Boro's manager Gareth Southgate.
  7. Formalities then. I'm sure they can get everything else sorted prior to the official date. I know that, its just that in the past you wouldn't see this much activity in the transfer market.
  8. Whatever happend to the transfer window starting on the 1st of July !!
  9. Parma have confirmed that Claudio Ranieri has left his position as coach of the club. Speculation is rife that Ranieri will take over at Manchester City if Thaksin Shinawatra completes a takeover of the club. The former Chelsea chief has not hidden his desire to return to management in England and he has now moved a step closer to taking over at Eastlands. Ranieri has had his request to quit as coach of Parma accepted, ending a short spell in charge at the Stadio Ennio Tardini. "Parma FC announce that Claudio Ranieri today informed the club of his intention to leave his role as coach of the first-team," read an official statement on Parma's website. "The club would like to thank Claudio Ranieri for the precious work carried out which resulted in keeping Parma in Serie A. "We wish him success for the future."
  10. Breaking news, probably on his way to Man City.
  11. From The Daily Mail: Mike Ashley's projected takeover of Newcastle moved a step closer to completion today after the club confirmed it had had "useful and constructive discussion" with the reclusive billionaire at St James' Park. Ashley is believed to have been negotiating to increase his share ownership in the club to 54%, effectively giving him control. He made a sudden purchase of Sir John Hall's 41.6% shareholding last week. Financial Dynamics, the public relations company handling Ashley's interest, refused to comment tonight, while the club issued a short statement to the Stock Exchange. It read: "Further to the announcement by Newcastle United plc on 25 May 2007, the board of Newcastle United announces that there was a meeting with Mike Ashley and his team earlier today at which there was a useful and constructive discussion." Meanwhile new boss Sam Allardyce is looking forward to his first full day in his new post next Monday after returning from a short holiday in France. Allardyce described his role as a "massive challenge" and added to the Evening Chronicle: "If a manager can be comfortable, I was probably in the most comfortable job in the game at Bolton. "Now I've made that big decision to challenge myself, and hopefully I can live up to the challenge at Newcastle United with the right support from the fans and everybody at the club." Allardyce's first task may be to welcome Australian striker Mark Viduka into his squad. Viduka is believed to have ended new contract negotiations with Middlesbrough and is interested in staying in the north-east.
