  1. Glad (or should that be sorry) to be so predictable Alex.
  2. I'm not in tears Tom, I'm glad to see him working. He's the best manager we've had since KD's first time around and it saddens me still that those in charge let him go. I can't see him staying at Chelsea, Rafa likes to build from the bottom. All of the young players you see playing for us now were brought to the club by Rafa. Once he gained control of The Academy he set up a way of playing that would be the same right through the club. He brought in some ex Barca coaches, he had young players all over the world scouted and we looked to be moving forward in a way that Shanks would have been proud of, but finishing outside of the top 4 gave the hierarchy at the club the excuse to sack him. They didn't like that he always let the fans know what was really going on. I'd have him back in a heartbeat.
  3. It has nothing to do with it Alex, he's always liked the area and the people, his wife Montse likes it even more. She even stayed here while he worked in Italy. He's got enough money to have moved long ago and left someone house sitting, but if I remember correctly he got the house at a bargain price in the first place, up for sale at 7 million and Rafa got it for 4, it's massive. Rafa and Montse have made themselves a big part of the community here, on both sides of the river. The Montse Benitez Foundation was set up to help local charities here on Merseyside and he has supported the Hillsborough families both financially and physically from when he first came here 2004. No doubt he will move from the area someday but for the moment he and his family are content here on Merseyside, as are quite a few ex players.
  4. Not serial killers, but a pretty gruesome twosome involved in Truman Capote's 'In Cold Blood', about the quadruple murder of a family in Kansas. It's a well researched book and gives a very good analysis of the relationship between the two killers. It's a very old book so you've probably read it, but if you haven't it's well worth a read. It's weird to think that the same fella (Capote) wrote 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' .
  5. Ok Fish, sorry didn't see your post earlier. Don't know why you're surprised at the answers being similar. Brendon Rodgers is a new manager and it's only a couple of years ago the media was slating us for being too loyal to managers, Benitez at that time. I've heard no rumours about his position either at Anfield or the locals. Hodgson is the only one that wasn't given time by the majority, and that was more to do with who and why he was appointed. The most mixed LFC site is probably "The Liverpool Way", there you'd have gotten a 50/50 split about Rafa and the present owners at least. Maybe put it there next time.
  6. Can't stand British gangster films, don't like many modern Brit films of any kind tbh. Even my favourite Pacino film isn't The Godfather, although I do like them, it's Dog Day Afternoon.
  7. Happy to oblige Tooj, boring and tedious it is. His views always give me a good laugh though.
  8. I see, so if you have only challenged a couple of times in the last what? 10, 20, 50, 100 years? you aren't a big club. Or will it only fall in YOUR and the Sky generations time period? In which case Liverpool I think have had two 2nds, but have also finished consistently higher than Newcastle. In fact haven't finished lower than 8th in 50 years. Where does this leave Arsenal in your small mind? After all, even last season is now history. You're talking shit as per, your club is nowhere near to Liverpool in stature, no matter how many times you tell yourself differently. I'm sure there are a few clubs fans who'd argue your just outside the top 3 or 4 also.
  9. If you don't regard Liverpool as a 'really' big club, why do you continually spout shite about how big Newcastle are?
  10. I think it has to be a really special game for the crowd passion to come across on the tele from any PL team, no standout fans for me. You have to be there imo. Your derby is different to ours, it's a two seperate cities derby, more like Man U v Liverpool.
  11. He swapped shirts with Terry Mac (both being from Kirkby) and got the hat from one of the Newcastle fans. The police were trying to stop him going for his medal telling him, 'you're up second' lol
  12. Didn't like to remind you of the hat-trick HH That team were a dream and yes the individual players were under-rated. Aldridge scored goals for whichever team he played for. In 673 professional games he scored 363 goals, that's a fantastic achievement in anyone's book. Barnes was the one you couldn't take your eyes off, every time he got the ball you knew there'd be a piece of magic.
  13. Best and most versatile defender I've ever seen in this country.
  14. There was a big difference between the three. Hodgson played dire football, manys the time Torres was the only one in the opposition half. He bought old players who weren't any good to begin with, he brought in a 71 year old GK coach, and his pressers were all about himself and how good he was. Dalglish paid over the top for some players but he got us to two finals, won a trophy, and had us playing far better football than Hodgson. Imo, he should have been given another season. Rodgers is different to both the other two.
  15. I find them totally different PL, the other two were all about taking money out of the club. FSG are not willing to put a lot of money in, but they have said many times they will put profits and savings back in to the kitty, which is what they've done up to now. I would say Rodgers is struggling with results but the football, for most games this season, is excellent. Not just the passing in their own half I'm talking about the team getting forward a lot and I can see what he's trying to do. I believe it will come good as each week we've seen them gelling better as a team who know what's expected of them. He's been forced into bringing the youth through, which I think would have happened anyway just not so many at once. The fans have been talking about Suso and Sterling, along with a few others, for a couple of seasons now. Benitez overhauled the Academy and it's now bearing the fruit that he mostly planted, a few more to come as well. Really pleased that Rodgers is playing them.
  16. Most supported Suarez anyway, and as RAWK is a privately owned site they have the right to do as they wish. Those who don't like that shouldn't join, or have their arguments about it on the feedback thread. There are many more LFC forums for them to choose from, I post mostly on another site.
  17. I'd have had Benitez back, though I wouldn't have sacked him in the first place. I don't think even FSG have any faith in the full Billy Beane moneyball thing as far as football goes, I do think they will always use elements of it. Not to be offensive, I can't stand Pardew and have never rated him as a manager, open minded about Rodgers, and failing getting Benitez back I'd have liked AVB or Martinez.
  18. I think RAWK is too fussy at times but it has some superb contributors, and it's one of the biggest independent football sites on the net, with around 40,000 members. Far too many great posts would get drowned by dross if they didn't moderate. The official site forums have 250,000 members and is moderated, but there is so much shit allowed to go through it's hardly worth reading most of the time.
  19. The averages hardly changed at all pre '05 or after. Are you now equating single match attendances for Liverpool, with season averages for Newcastle? Mind, that would be typical you, you're very good at manipulating facts to suit your purpose, when you can't do that you just make things up. As HF has pointed out we've a very healthy waiting list already, with thousands more waiting to go on it.
  20. That's a great contribution from you Fish (your first post on the thread), good read, interesting views, you should write seriously more often.
