  1. If's and' and but's. Ridiculous thinking as ALL clubs could use them for any amount of reasoning. You weren't FAR bigger at all, or even bigger, you were a great cup team who yo yo' ed in and out of the 1st and 2nd division, but your delusions of grandeur do no harm so fill your boots. Just don't expect fans of other clubs to agree with you.
  2. Liverpools attendances have always been based on turnstile clicks, the majority of matches are sold out, ticket wise, weeks before. I've often wondered why they do this as most clubs nowadays base it on tickets sold.
  3. Really interesting posts Park Life. Germany having a federal government seems a far better way to be governed as far as I can see. Allowing each city to be autonomous, as opposed to this country where every city has to compete for the crumbs dropped from a London-centric ruling body, seems to be the best way to improve a nations quality of life imo. How is it in reality?
  4. Well we can all, as fans, be deluded Tom, and sometimes it's good to read what other fans think of your club, players and team. It can certainly bring you down to earth.
  5. I post on a few other forums Tom (Man U included) usually for friendly chat though. There's loads of links on RAWK. Tbh, Man U fans are ok when you're not there to shout the odds at them, underneath it all there's a certain amount of respect for each others club.
  6. Of course there are, look in the mirror. Your resident bigot throws factless shite around at any club and fans that aren't Newcastle, I just try to redress the balance. Your words, though thoroughly meaningless, show that my comments irk you.
  7. PMSL, you've never said that you're a big club? Have you not learned that if the old soak speaks well of you it means you're shite, and he couldn't care less where you are in football? I cringe any time he has anything decent to say about us, because it means he doesn't see us as any threat whatsoever, even in our games against each other. I'm much more comfortable with his hate. I bet Wenger would rather have his hate than the smirking praise he's received the last few years. Since Arsenal ceased to become real contenders in fact.
  8. You are seriously deluded. Historically Everton are better than you on, trophies won, top 3 finishes, time spent in the top tier, more years in Europe, Newcastle are better than them on, attendances, but all time only by a few thousand. Turnover, yes. Can't think of anything else, I'm sure you'll enlighten me. Are you calling yourself a Premier League fan rather than a football fan? Football history didn't start with the PL and as you appear to want to use history as a benchmark then at least have the gumption to use it all, not just the parts that please your deluded over inflated view of Newcastle. Quoting turnover is ridiculous because no matter how big or small it is if you fail to win a trophy with it, it means nothing whatsoever. Fans using turnover is a recent thing, personally I've spent most of my football following life not knowing or caring what the club s turnover was. I just wanted to see great players on the pitch, not become a selling club, and win trophies. You appear to get your pride from seeing your clubs name in the money league. I don't have a problem with Man U and have no need to paint Liverpool in a better light; our history does that for itself. Man U capitalised on their success far more than Liverpool ever did, which then allowed them to buy the best players at a time when English football was moving in to the big money league, good luck to them, I only wish we'd have been more commercial when we had the chance. It's become the only way to compete. Souness may have said anything, doesn't make it true. I believe Everton are a big club most certainly, but as I pointed out before, trophy wise, Villa and Spurs are bigger than both you and Everton.
  9. Their history on many levels is better than yours. The media interest? FFS, since when have the media seen past Man U and any other top 4 side in any large proportion? You go on about finance and then pick out a few years where your turnover was decent, Everton could also pick out years where they were a rich club, they even had a millionaire chairman when lots of others were run by the local butcher etc... You're also a great one for going on about your present owner, well Everton have had some of the worst since the days of Moores and Carter ended, they even had a local GP in the 90's. I believe Everton are a big club. as to who they're bigger than is open to opinion. There are many factors to consider, trophies being the biggest one, imo. In that respect alone, Spurs and Villa are bigger than Everton and yourselves.
  10. You work it out Ste. It was you that said they compare themselves to you, they don't at all. Why would they when they play in a city that has seen so much success? Evertons history is better than yours on quite a few levels as I've already pointed out. You said they've only won one trophy in 25 years, why would you point that out when your own club have only won one in nearly 60 years? West Ham play in a city that has a lot of football teams, Everton play in a city that has only two teams, and if they made comparisons at all it would be against their rivals.
  11. I live here, work with blues, have bluenose mates and family members, and honestly have never heard them compare themselves to you. I don't really hear them comparing themselves to anyone. Mostly they just want to be a top four side, regardless of who that contains. They have won the title 9 times, only 3 clubs better that. They have finished top three 23 times in their history compared to your 10. They've been in Europe 15 times. Spent 109 years in the first division. Play in a city that has seen 27 league titles, 12 FA Cups and 9 European trophies brought home. I hardly think Newcastle is a club they'd aspire to, good though Newcastle have been at times. Not sure but I think historically they have a good showing in the all time attendance records too, which is your particular favourite subject.
  12. Paddock Lad has hit the nail on the head, imo. Prior to Ferguson managers let their team do the talking on the pitch. They showed respect to each other in general. Of course there were occasional spats between managers, teams, players but I don't remember any manager continually trying to get the edge before a match by talking about the officials or the other team's players. He has had this power over football for decades now and only when he retires will we start to see a level playing field. Everyone, the FA, referees, journos, and other managers to a lesser extent, are frightened to upset him. The FA have always seen Man U as a cash cow for English football, and surely appointing David Gill as vice chairman of the FA board created a conflict of interests. The refs know that if they upset the man they will not ref at OT for a long while, and the journos know they'll be banned from OT if they write anything derogatory. Prior to Howard Webb being the Man U 12th man it was Mike Riley, who now appoints the refs for all PL games. This article shows some interesting facts, despite it being a bit flawed because it doesn't show comparisons with other PL teams. http://diminbeirut.t...-out-there.html
  13. I didn't say Liverpool audiences attract comedians, I'm under no illusions as to why they go travelling around the country, anywhere, it's the money. I meant we have no problem attracting entertainers to the city in general, some have been known to have come just because it's Liverpool, but to many others it's just a job. Liverpool has a history of being popular for 'famous' people, some come because of that. Comedians are near the bottom of the food chain and have to be good because I can go up the road to a pub and see better for free. I like the arrogance and no-one here cares whether some anonymous poster on an internet forum thinks it deserved or not, or a whole host of anonymous internet posters. Shanks loved the arrogance and his thoughts are far more worthy than yours, or anyone else's for that matter. Yes, I think Scousers are great, I love being one, love working and socialising with them, and as already stated I thank god I was born one. If that doesn't suit your thinking then hard shite. Oh ffs, you didn't go on there straightforwardly and make a 'joke', you wanted to get one over on them and did it in a sly way so that the insulting 'joke' could be enjoyed by yourself and those that knew, where's the 'two way' humour in that? I've yet to see these Brits who laugh at themselves, never yet seen a Scot who laughed for being called tight, or an Irish man laugh because he's called thick, or Welsh for being sheep shaggers. We'll have to agree to disagree now because it's become boring.
  14. Fish, what makes you think I'm in the least interested what other fans/people think of Scousers, it's irrelevant to me? I gave you my view of my fellow citizens, it won't change because some people hate/dislike us, in fact I find it quite amusing to see all that hate poured out (maybe that's what keeps me coming to this site) I don't hate anywhere or any people that much. I thank god I was born where I was, and am very, very proud to be a Scouser, and though there are lots of places in the UK that I love, none compare to Liverpool for me. There are thousands upon thousands of visitors come here from all around the world, including the UK, and the vast majority always leave with a positive feeling, many can't wait to come back for a second visit. Most comedians I've heard on the subject of Liverpool love it, even the likes of Alan Davies said he's always wanted to play The Liverpool Empire. Those that find it difficult aren't worth seeing anyway imo, I have seen comedians here who really aren't as funny as some of the hecklers, but there you go, we have no problem attracting them at all.
  15. McFaul : We had a higher turnover than Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in the last 13 or 14 years Liverpool Year Turnover 2007/08 159.052 2006/07 133.910 - 2005/06 119.499 2004/05 121.054 2003/04 92.576 - 2002/03 102.504 2001/02 98.668 2000/01 82.155 1999/00 46.609 1998/99 45.265 1997/98 36.366 1996/97 39.153 1995/96 27.396 - Newcastle Year Turnover 2007/08 99.358 - 2006/07 87.083 - 2005/06** 83.086 - 2004/05 87.087 2003/04 90.468 2002/03 96.449 2001/02 70.858 2000/01 54.916 1999/00 45.090 - 1998/99 44.718 1997/98 49.177 1996/97 42.162 1995/96 24.723
  16. I don't take myself seriously at all, neither do I see that as a common trait in Scousers. It was clearly not a joke to Rawkites, I can't say I saw anything funny in it either, it was quite insulting considering the way you went about it. RAWK's Spyin Kop has been going for many years and opposition fans have always responded in the spirit of friendliness, respect and good humour, much the same as LFC fans responded to you. They took you at face value and you were just having a little private joke with your buddies. You didn't exactly promote this site either. I haven't heard the Munich song inside Anfield for years. This victim complex you go on about is something I don't recognise in Scousers unless of course you're referring to standing up for ourselves and sticking together when we see things that are wrong, or wearing our hearts on our sleeves. We get accused of many things, but tbh I'm quite proud of the way we go about most things, and wouldn't,change anything about the Scouse character, I've yet to meet better.
  17. It was a disaster for all involved, or do you think the majority of Liverpool fans, or the club, have no regrets or sympathy for what happened? Just like the majority of Lazio fans and the club will regret what's happend to Spurs fans. RAWK reacted in the same way any normal person would react to something written in bad taste, maybe you're different. If it was so long ago, and water under the bridge, neither you nor Fish would have referred to it at all.
  18. It was a disaster for the people and families involved, what would you have me call it?
  19. It wasn't really a joke though was it Fish, it looked more like a point scoring exercise with the use of a disaster. You can still read RAWK can't you? Thread is locked anyway you'll find it under general football in the Flagpole Corner Forum.
  20. The Rafatollah, I think it's gone missing last I heard. Just a bit of fun at the expense of Islam at the time.
  21. A Christmas Carol, the Alastair Sim version. NL Christmas Vacation Scrooged The Great Escape, there's something missing if it's not on.
