  1. QFT and still the best striker at the club Martins is better imo gets goals and makes more of a nuisance of himself, Owen may as well not be on the pitch half the time, esp the last few games was more or less anonymous. (shouldn't be captain either but i guess we've no one else) Owen's all-round play is better than Martins' (whilst not that great), his strikerate is better and over the last season and a half his fitness record is better! Obviously Martins' pace is a miss but when he is poor he is worse than anonymous. He's an utter liability as anything given to him might as well be a pass to the opposition. I'd play both when fit fwiw. I like how he 'shouldn't be captain' as well, despite how you then admit there is no better candidate. Perhaps Owen will have to leave to be appreciated by some on here. I do agree with alot of what you say there, but I think Owen has missed Martins since his latest injury. He has been poor when playing alongside anyone other than Martins. On other occasions, Owen could well have had an extra four goals for us in the last few matches, the chances he's missed. That's the thin line between success and failure, I guess. I'd still have Owen playing every game, if fit. Whilst he should have scored more, it's still encouraging for me to see him getting into those positions. I know that's a cliche, but it's no less true all the same. Couldn't agree more.
  2. Ceasar's Palace for the Zog/Carroll fight ??
  3. Is that you telling us all (or those who thought MR was 'super dooper') that you knew all along he is shit???????

  5. I'm neither pro or anti Ashley. I'm one of the thousands of supporters who haven't a fucking clue what the truth is and are open-minded about his motives. It appears he got caught out by buying the club and then being forced to pay off the debt. He has 'loaned' the club approx £100m (to pay the debt etc) which was his own money and has charged an interest on that (despite not taking it - yet?). How much interest would he have gained had that £100m sat in his bank account? Isn't it reasonable, therefore, that he's charged NUFC an interest on his loan? I've seen the figures Ritchie posted about certain players' wages - they are truly horrifying. Buying NUFC to take out 10 or 20 million a year? I'm not sure I believe that. Has he lied to us? It appears so, and his/NUFC pr has been atrocious. Yours, bewildered
  6. Erm, isn't that article referring to even earlier accounts than the ones in the OP? The lad who posted the stuff I copied from N-O is an accountant and appears to know his stuff - far more than me, or some guy from The Journal I imagine. It appears to me (from a totally uneducated eye, I admit) that Ashley has put into NUFC almost a quarter of a BILLION pounds of his own money. Does he really deserve the vitriol he gets?
  7. So I gather she doesn't let her watch anything disney either then, cos everyones either an orphan or their parents die in that stuff! Bambi!! I'm still traumatised by that shooting; every time I go hunting I can never hit anyfuckinthing  It's not fair!!!
  8. "The accounts up to 30th June 2008 have now been filed for both Newcastle United Limited and St James Holdings Limited, the latter company is the parent company that Ashley has used for his investment in the club. Ok some points from both companies: • Income is up to £99 million from £87 million last year. As has been discussed on here this is due to the increase in tv money. • The club has made a pre tax loss of £20.5 million for the year, leaving the balance sheet technically insolvent to the tune of £36 million. Ernst and Young have signed off a clean audit report due to Ashley giving an undertaking that he will continue to support the club financially. • How is the loss made up? Loss before amortisation, player trading and exceptional items £2.2 million Allardyce blow out cost £4.7 million Amortisation of players contracts £17.8 million Interest paid on the old debt before Ashley paid it off £6.6 million Total loss from that lot = £31.3 million We then have a profit from disposal of players £10.8 million Leaving an overall loss of £20.5 million • The question that has been much discussed is how much Ashley has put into the club. And the answer is £100 million as a loan, £70 million of that was used to clear the old debt and £30 million has been put in to keep the club going. Since the 30th June he has put in a further £10 million of cash as working capital. He paid £138 million to buy the club, so his total investment is £248 million so far. • Note 26 to the accounts informs us that in the September transfer window the club spent £13,615,000 on new players and sold players for £13,610,000. This represents a net spend of £5,000. The same note also tells us that Kevin Keegan resigned on the 4th September, there is no further comment in respect of this. There will inevitably be some discussion on here at some point about amortisation of players’ contracts and whether it should really count as a cost. In my opinion it should because if you ignore it you don’t reflect the money paid out for players. In other words if you ignore it you are basically saying we got Owen, Duff, Martins, Collo etc for nothing. Equally there is the argument that depreciation of the money spent on the stadium should not count but again I think it should. The revenue earned from the stadium is a decent chunk of income and it seems to me to be right to reflect some of the original cost of that asset in the results for the year. There’s a lot more going on in the accounts than that obviously but I hope that the above is of interest. And I hope its understandable, I tried not to get too technical other than the bit on amortisation" EDIT: as said in the title, this is off another site - posted by someone else (far clevererererer than me) the comments are his, not mine.
  9. "give us your fucking money" as Mr Geldof once famously said.
  10. I think krul should of had more chance in the first team ( ie cup games etc ) after the performance he gave against Palermo he's not the only one , donninger and goodsmark , ranger ect ect all showing our first team up , and deserved alot more playing time , hull put their reserves out against us and knocked us outa FA cup , we shoulda played the kids and would have had more chance of winning watching our first teams perfomance that day . Totally agree with you. We have some cracking youth talent. Wouldn't mind seeing Tozer and Kadar Genuine quesion as I keep hearing this - have you ever seen any of them play? I recall seeing a game on tv last season from St James' in which Kadar played. He looked canny good iirc. However, HOWEVER, I can't for the life of me remember who it was against. (possibly against the Whitley Bay blind girl guides team??) . EDIT 2: I think it was reserve match versus Liverpool stiffs. Could be wrong on the opposition, but I'm fairly certain it was a stiffs game.
  11. You guys really piss me off at times. You haven't even seen the guy play and you're condemning him. He's a Champions League winner ffs!! Well, a Qatari League winner which must be something close. Yes? I wonder if the press are just sitting in Lahndan wiki-ing all these obscure players, linking them with NUFC and absolutely pissing themselves laughing at the fallout up here I'd love to be in their position
  12. lol i nearly did the same. good goal after though the goal where he had loads of time to take it down turn and smash it while two defenders didn't bother going near him? when a youtube compilation highlighting your talents has to show you just getting a shot on target.. not the best of signs Just what I thought.
  13. fwiw, I always like Eater Eggs. Sorry, Easter Eggs. My apologies.
  14. I couldn't belieeeeeve you didn't know him.
  15. Ageing players going to Citeh (best supported club in the history of football. FACT!) must realise that once the club moves upwards, they will be moving outwards. New, younger and better players will be bought to replace the ageing ones who are just being bought now to stabilise things. Man City have the finances for my assumptions to become reality. All imo, of course.
  16. HBTY, HBTY, HBDGBG.........HBTY. No, Jonny, not sent my cock, just a couple of exotic pictures for her pleasure
  17. Fwiw, I'm Soccermom. No, I'm Spartacus. Hang on......I'm fucking confused.
