The size of the government victory on the John Baron amendment should not be read as an indication that only 24 MPs are worried about the backstop. Instead, it is probably better to view it a sign that many MPs were unhappy with Baron for pushing his amendment to a vote when there seems to be a clear desire in the House to get on with the vote on the main motion.
