Can I just point out to those who are blaming Ashley for this, Nolan has turned down a contract offer of four years. It is obvious that was for less money than west ham are offering hence the reason he wants to leave. He had a good season last year but is easily replaceable imo and since carrol left his productivity on the pitch took a huge dive cos the knock downs etc were not around for him to feed on which has been the main source of his goals over the last two years. For me, I think if we bring in someone younger but still proven like gardner for a lower wage then it is not bad business. Especially if he is not happy at the club!
-
I think it might be difficult for him to not be an imrovement really!
-
Which is of course exactly what has actually happened tecato!
-
I suppose he would finally live up to his name!

Reminds me of when we stepped aside and let rooney join man u Something Fishy about NUFC £20m Rooney Bid You may remember about 12 hours after this was written we officially stepped aside to allow him to go to the mancs!

I put batty simply because, in his prime he was one hell of a footballer! Tiote has had an amazing season but it only one season so far, Batty was consistently close to perfect. Ask me again in two years and I may well change my mind but batty just shades it as he did it year after year and we have only seen Tiote perform one season. (I must admit I think as Tiote gets older he will most likely become a better footballer)

I know very little about the lad but what I do know is one season is tough to judge him on. Twice in his newcastle career alone shearer finshed with 7 goals in 23 appearances. So 8 in 28 doesn't look so bad. I know it is france etc but looking at erdings total for all clubs it is 155 apps and 53 goals which is one every 2.92 games. Also, strikers become more prolific as they get a little older, he is still young and placed with the right partner I wouldn't rule him out just yet, however, on the other hand I wouldn't want to be spending much more than £8m on him for those figures but he could turn out fairly decent

Your argument is all well and good. Everyone else would agree also we want the best players at the club and that is not the issue here. You are choosing to ignore the most salient point of all and that it we can't afford it. Let me phrase it slightly differently then, rather than telling you that you are wrong as you point out you are fully entitled to your own opinion how do you think we should finance the the visions you have. Where are we to get the money from and who realistically do you think we could attract with the club as is (my point here is mistakes have been made in the past! They have now gone and cannot be changed so how would you from this point finance success and stop the club from going in to administration as it is obvious you are happy to run on debt as long as the club does not go under) Answer me that with a sensible response which is plausible and could yield results and you never know I may, just may be won over. I am not here to as you claim lay down personal assassinations, it is simply an observation made based on your way of thinking which personally I find completely and utterly immoral, however, I will keep these opinions to myself and allow you to try and get your point across by way of a reasonable plan for the club without further prejudice to your personality!

Give my head a shake, you are asking the owners to spend money the club doesnt have. We have made losses in the last four years so even a net profit on transfers does not condone buying new players. You can't look at a business in separate sections it must be as a whole and if the result is a loss then this must be rectified. I would hate Ashley much more if we had no club than us having a below average team and I am willing to accept that until the club is sold. Ashley has made mistakes but we are ahead of most clubs when it comes to financial fair play when that is finally implemented and that includes many clubs above us in the league. The transfer window has started off quite promising and for some reason to me it feels like he will actually keep his word and spend the money, on players and wages which I am fine with for the reason given above or close to it at least. As I have said to you previously your point of view re: finances is what is wrong with the world, spend it now and worry later when others will bail us out. It gives a good indication as to the type of person you are really and it is extremely worrying that know matter how many people tell you the same you can't see the wood for the trees so to speak!

I agree or taylor, either seems fairly easy to sort out i.e the players are making the right noises about the moves and both are cheap options to add to the squad. I would hope they are not the only ones to join this summer but I think in terms of the very next signing one of these seems to be on the cards.

controversial ? No. What you mean is people don't "agree" with me, like you. I don't get your question, what does Man City and Chelsea have to do with NUFC ? You want me to say that I think Mike Ashley should be bankrolling the club like they are don't you ? That is what is pissing you off, so I'm telling you I have NEVER said that and never will either. My point is take out the 3 teams I've mentioned, and there is NO excuse for a club like NUFC not to aim to beat everybody else, which is what I have been saying for ages now, if you read the posts properly without looking for something which isn't there. No, that was not going to be my point at all actually but if you think Man City and Chelsea have nothing to do with NUFC then why does Liverpools transfer policy bother you so much? what is the difference between them and Man City or Chelsea? (Not my original point btw, however Liverpool are being bankrolled by new owners at present at quite an alarming rate) Also, may I point out you keep saying that because Liverpool signed our best striker that immediately makes our transfer policy bad and theres good! I am afraid time has shown, especially at our club under the shepherd regime, that buying a clubs so called best players does not always work (Shearer being an obvious exception) but at the other end of the scale G'uivarch was hyped to the max, leading the french line in the world cup and he was abysmal! Many clubs have shown in the past that selling your best players can indeed be beneficial if it helps a club progress as a team. Would Tottenham have the strength of squad if they had kept carrick and berbatov? I would argue that at the time when sold probably the two most influential players, however, the money brought in and spent improving the whole squad has put them in a much better position than they have been in with those players. We must now give Ashley a bit of time to see if he can do the same. He isn't going to bankroll the club and I would not expect him too, but selling andy carrol could end up being the best thing that happened to the club should the money be spent and spent correctly!

To be honest I can't be arsed with this conversation I am afraid. It was a simple question which required a simple yes or no answer and I think I speak for a lot of people on here when I say that I am sick of wading through the bullshit to try and gleam something positive from your posts. I struggle to find anything in what you say time and again which I agree with. You have set your stall out to be controversial and I must admit it has certainly worked and got some peoples backs up but it is a shame you can't be involved in a single thread without reverting to the same unresolved argument over and over again. The unfortunate fact is you bring absolutely nothing to the board whatsoever, yet you continue with the same drivel over and over.

i'm not talking about Man City and Chelsea, I've said this dozens of times. I'm talking about NUFC being run on the same levels as clubs such as Bolton and Blackburn. Please keep up. I didn't say you are, but on the basis I would like to use it as a comparison to show differing levels of growth speed etc please just answer the question, unless your scared of being called out that is!

Can I ask leazes, would you agree that bar inflation in the game, Man city's current transfer policy is the same that chelsea had when abramovich took over?

His Wikipedia page already says he plays for us, it must be true then

SSN Roberto Martinez has turned down the opportunity to take charge at Aston Villa and will remain at the helm of Wigan Athletic. Villa requested permission to hold talks with the Spaniard earlier in the week, which was granted by Latics chairman Dave Whelan. Whelan always insisted that he would not stand in the way of the highly-regarded young tactician, but remained confident that he would remain at the DW Stadium. And with Whelan and Martinez locked in talks over a new and improved deal, Villa confirmed that they would be looking elsewhere for Gerard Houllier's successor. A statement from Villa on their official website read: "Roberto met with his chairman earlier this week and he has made the decision to honour his commitment to Wigan. "Therefore, we have not met Roberto and we have not had the opportunity to discuss the vacant managerial role with him. "We remain focused and are working hard to secure the best candidate for Aston Villa who will complement the club's commitment to be true to our heritage competitiveness and passionate fan base and will have the new manager in place to prepare the players for the pre-season programme and next season's campaign." .

Seems he has turned down Villa. Fair Play!

I think it is a decent bit of money but its an exciting prospect I must admit with him and ben arfa in the team. Maybe not a lot of consistency but on their day both can be world beaters. I you then have tiote and nolan and cabaye behind with one main striker I think that is the dogs bollocks tbh EDIT: Nolan or Barton, one will most likely leave
-
I voted Barfa simply because he has been injured so no1 will snap him up till atleast january at earliest so if you move quick you should be guaranteed a solid 6-7 months before he leaves

Don't want swansea till after chrimbo, will be confident as hell first half of season like us last yar, hull blackpool etc when teams come up (espcially Hull Blackpool and Swans) when they don't expect to come up they are almost always great for first few months. For me I would want Everton first game. Traditionally really slow starters. Get both their games through before New Year and we have a chance of maybe 4 points off them looking at previous years

go onto a Liverpool website and tell them they would be better off with O'Shea, Gibson and Brown than Henderson No wonder people laugh at NUFC supporters. I didn't say that, I said sunderland are better off. At no point did I mention Liverpool at all, i merley pointed out that you claimed sunderland are worse off for getting rid of their "prize asset" and bringing in the three man u lads and I disagreed. If you are gonna try to pick fault maybe you should learn to read first! I don't agree the mackems are better off. Based on Hendersons potential, as he didn't show up in the derby game and its the only time I've seen him but nobody else turned up for them either, they are significantly worse off in my opinion, and if he becomes a good player and performs for Liverpool, the mackems are massively worse off and Liverpool are better off. It's alright I accept your apology for your previous comment That is fine, I respect your opinion as it is possibly the first post you have made since I joined this board without you trying to take the piss, call someone deluded and ultimately make a fool out of yourself, well done. I will point out mind, you are basing your point on the opinion that Liverpool will be better off in Henderson comes good, regardless of how Gibson, O'Shea and Brown turn out for the mackems. Gibson has been poor, but against schalke this year he was absolutely phenomenal and using your 'potential' argument it is more than plausible for him to turn out close to, as good as or even better than henderson with a run of games, something he has never really had and therefore his potential is hard to judge by us and for him to realise!
