Everything's a suppository if you try hard enough.

I see now that some of the players did refuse to take part altogether, so fair play to them.
I take the point about funding. I presume that's also why the Irish basketball federation said it couldn't guarantee the Israeli players' safety if the match venue had been switched to Dublin as per one request (because it wouldn't have been in a position to handle the potential protests). It's a shame that some sports have the means to deal with that kind of thing and others don't, so you end up with situations like this that satisfy nobody.

First they came for the netball players...

I suppose if you're trying to say "we disapprove of genocide a bit but not a lot" then it's the right approach.

They should refuse to play them at all, like Iran and co. do, if they're that bothered.

I do find it a bit fucking weird like. I.e. for someone to be of the left-leaning persuasion and to turn what Sunak said yesterday in Parliament into something to use against Starmer. Even if you hate the bloke
It's not unreasonable to say that Starmer is being disingenuous given the softly-softly approach he's taken to anti-trans people in his own party like Rosie Duffield, but that doesn't make Sunak's comment any less egregiously tone-deaf and it'd be madness to get in the way of something that can and should damage the party you're - supposedly - most trying to damage.

John Travolta accepted an invitation to be a guest at Italy's Sanremo song festival. John Travolta will be sacking his agent in the morning.

He's solid, he'll be getting paid considerably more than he could make elsewhere (even if it's buttons in the grand scheme of things) and he seems to like living in the region, so it makes good enough sense. If he's still not getting much playing time a year from now then he's still young enough to make a move.
