Obviously he is not as engaging as KK but how can you be so sure he is very aloof? I think he (sensibly) maintains a certain persona on tv but reckon he's actually a bit of a joker and a man's man. Same as all those youngsters were more than likely spotted by scouts and recommended to the club with Wise having the job to convince them to sign (which he failed with a couple of promising youngsters, like Vokes). I think Volkes is a different case, he's played 30 times for Wolves this season, he'd have been lucky to make the bench at the toon. He'd been unlucky not to make the bench this season tbh... As much as I agree with the policy of acquiriny young talents from all over the world. How successfull this approach is going to be we will only see in a couple of years time as normally only few players actually turn good... It's a policy that only works when you add them to a succesful first team. Adding a few drops of red wine to a bucket of anti-freeze, just dilutes and ruins the wine. Pure speculation probably, but it's as least as plausible as believing Ashley's done a u-turn, which he'd pretty much have to do to get Shearer long-term. Shearer would certainly insist on control and investment. Mind you if there is anything in this I hope it isn't contingent on us avoiding the drop; we're still right in the clag after all. That presumes he'll still be here once the transfer window opens. You could more reasonably presume Shearer has been offered £1m for 8 weeks work without any responsibility outside of picking the team and training the squad we have until 24th May, and he's snapped their hand off for that kind of cash. I've no doubt Shearer will be on a king's ransom for these eight games, and that scenario is very possible, no question. I'd still put my money on Shearer being our manager next season though. And anyway, I prefer my presumption to yours If the reported seven figure bonus is true, he's on more than Michael Owen. What happened to lowering the wage bill?

It was worse than his earlier comment that free signing "Guttierez has been a huge disappointment" while not mentioning Xisco.
