  1. Little known fact... Pete's Snooker loopy older brother Ken hasn't spoken to him since their parents split up in 1983.
  2. Go to London. I promise you you'll either be mugged or unapreciated.
  3. Necro – The Sexorcist With his propensity for the disgusting Necro maybe isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it’s this inclination toward the vulgar that is his genius. In rapping the coarsest lyrics of anyone out there he subverts the genre into something so ludicrous as to be embarrassing. He shows up “Gangsta rap” as the childish braggadocio it is and ensures that any subsequent misogynist gloating is recognised as the desperate machismo of a sexually repressed ameoba. Everyone else should give up now. Either that or he’s a bit wrong in the head and just uses his music to sell porn from his website.
  4. The new Soulwax album entitled Nite Versions. I believe it's just the last album remixed.
  5. Bah! I'll not bother with it then. I think I'll put "The Woods" by Sleater Kinney on constant repeat. Get it to the top of the LastFM chart. Outstanding album.
  6. Do you have to start paying for that sig in 20 days?
  7. Us3 - Cantaloop "Funky! Funky!" Nobby loves those trumpets.
  8. I thought that was the only reason to do it. I mean Elric is a top bloke (especially pissed) but he's listened to Xzibit 99 separate times This kind of thing needs to be queried. Do you do the arm motion Elric? X to the mother fuckin zee homie
  9. The Invisible Invasion is QUAL-I-TEE! But even if it WAS shit, it would never approach the dross that is Bluntman.
  10. I wouldn't get excited about it. The N-O top 10 is very boring. The killers James Blunt and Manic Street Preachers are all in the top 10. Come on people, develop a bit of taste.
  11. So do you think there's a link between Maralyn Manson and Collumbine? Personally I don't believe anyone makes important life decisions based on the lyrics of a song or the ethos of an artist. Unless Dave Gorman has started a new project.
  12. They are too poor to afford transport out of the area, not too stupid. Could you walk to London in a couple of days? That's what this whole discussion springs from, the point that George Bush doesn't care about the poorest people in his society and left them to rot while anyone with money was able to get away. The point that those poor people were mostly black was exacerbated by one media source pointing to blacks 'looting' but whites 'taking' groceries.
  13. Of course they should aspire to better themselves, but you made it sound like they all aspire to be dealers, pimps and hoes because Snoop Dogg glorifies it. That isn't the case, they do aspire to better things but end up as dealers, pimps or hoes as they are unable to beat the system. I'd go further and say it's probably also harder for black person with a good background to achieve as opposed to a white person from a disadvantaged background. Schooling is free to all Americans, but white people aren't generally refused jobs or entry to universities on the grounds of bigotry. That is why I'm for positive discrimination, if we put up with being discriminated against for a few decades (as blacks have for a few centuries) we can maybe speed up the whole process of bringing about equality and then there'll be no need for any kind of discrimination, even positive. I'm not sure why you quoted me there. I was pointing out that black and white relatives of mine brought up in almost identical conditions have turned out quite differently, though they all listen to the same kind of music. It has nothing to do with music, a little to do with upbringing and a whole lot to do with skin colour. When you are routinely abused as you walk down the street, dumped by girls because they can't take a 'blackie' home to their dad, beaten to a pulp by morons, or get an axe through your skull, these disadvantages are not brought on by listening to Kanye, these things happen regardless of upbringing or intelligence and they can get to be too much and drugs can help you escape that kind of hurt. Do you also believe Maralyn Manson is to blame for Collumbine?
  14. Sorry dotbum but I hardly agree with a word of that. What you're suggesting is that if black people are the poorest in America, then it's their own fault, they should aspire to higher things. The reason black people are generally the poorest in America is the racist culture keeping black people firmly 'in their place'. This is the reason for positive discrimination in the workplace which most white people are dead against. I've got lots of cousins who've listened to NWA, Snoop Dogg, Ice T, Eminem etc all their lives and all but one never touch drugs. The one that does is black. Now you can tell me it's him that chases that lifestyle, but I believe he's forced into it by a lack of opportunity or encouragement in any activity he chooses to pursue. [sarcasm]And major US networks love putting people on TV who tell everyone how racist they are, really pulls the viewers in that does.[/sarcasm] Edit: Sorry, I meant Ewerk, not Dotbum.
  15. Sensible people download the media player plugin then listen to their cheese on ITunes.
  16. I don't listen to Kanye too much but I don't think he advocates drug use. Happy to be corrected ttal.
  17. What defense budget? He's had to borrow £350 Billion or so to spend on his war against "terror". Once "terror" has been beaten I wonder if he'll declare war on "alarm" or is "dread" a more pressing concern?
  18. The government funds for aid are being provided by a cut in benefit budgets too. If this ever happens again, the people who were too poor to leave the city in the first place will be even poorer. But there'll also be thousands more who just scraped together the money for a greyhound bus this time that can't afford it next time. Even more deaths! Way to go George, always thinking.
  19. Fair enough, but if he'd played ball how likely are NBC to invite him back to air his grievences after the relief effort? His white right wing audience would be lost and he'd be speaking only to the people that buy his albums, who likely agree with him anyway.
  20. I should really just leave this alone but it irks me a tad. I'm sure he hasn't got a chip on his shoulder about 'being black' I think the chip will stem more from the racist abuse he suffers just because of his skin colour, and also that he sees other people suffering from. I think most black people have what you call 'chip on their shoulder' and what I'd call 'an overall bitterness toward and mistrust of white America, its politics and policing' and it's perfectly reasonable to do so. It's seen as an us against them situation as most of 'us' suffer racism more frequently than 'them'. Are you suggesting black people shut up and suffer? Why doesn't Mike Myers or Chris Tucker go down there? They're all using their celebrity to bring money in. There's no reason he should do any more than other celebrities (he did say he's donated as much as his business manager would allow tbh (to use the parlance of this site)). It's up to the goverment to protect it's people, all of whom were created equal. It's not the responsibility of a rapper to single handedly bail out a city. but it's good of him to draw the attention of white America to the suffering of black people, and his right to criticise the president he believes is letting down American citizens.
  21. Blackalicious - The Craft Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans
  22. If I remember correctly I think she was quite proud of abandoning her kids to run of with another woman. She blames the cheatee rather than the cheater when an affair breaks up a relationship.
