Why have you ignored Ba? Best's biggest problem - by some distance if you ask me - is his inconsistency. One game he'll look decent, another he'll be woeful (like he was against Scunthorpe). People are far too harsh on him - going by some of the posts in this thread, it's like you want to make him out as worse than he is purely so it's another tool you can use against the club. the clubs lack of activity and ambition seals their own deserved criticism. Its difficult why you are defending such criticism tbh, personally I've nowt against Best at all [see above post] I'm sure he's a good lad and is doing his best, but looking at it ruthlessly, he's not a top premiership striker, with the best will in the world, you have to accept that. Maiga's goal tally before last season was dreadful, didn't stop people on here wanting him. Best was 22 when he joined IIRC, so his goal record isn't worth highlighting that much. Best has scored 6 in 12 (last season) and 2 in 3 this season. Not sure why you're pointing out that his hat-trick doesn't really count, while plenty of other strikers in the world score hat-tricks and wouldn't have them devalued?

I know Deano doesn't help himself sometimes but he really does get a lot of shit off people on here, simply for having a different opinion on the state of the Toon (and for having a penchant for posting formations).
