If he regains full fitness and if he chips in with a few goals then I would be content enough seeing him play off one striker. But that requires another 'if' - if said striker (Ba, Best, one of the Ameobi brothers) scores on a consistent basis. There are far too many 'ifs' in this squad and comfortably my biggest worry is how many goals we'll score. If it all comes together, then fine - and Ben Arfa getting a few matches in for us would be a supremely positive thing. But I can't see him or anyone else matching Nolan's goal tally from last season for instance.

We only brought in one extra keeper, I should point out. I just don't get it. Do Etihad have their logo plastered all over the Man City stadium? Emirates at Arsenal's? Even Reebok at Bolton? I appreciate that he owns the club, so don't mind some of the SD logos. But to remove that iconic lettering, knowing the heritage of it and the pride fans take in it... it's just beyond me. Again though, it might just be maintenance.

Unfortunately we all know what the reality is. The name of the club is inviolable and it really is about time the various supporters groups and fanzines put their differences to one side and got behind an organised protest. I know the FMA fan club will prattle on about how they achieve nothing and upset the players, but at some point we have to stop letting FMA fuck us over and stand up for our club. Doing nothing while this kind of shit is going doesn't equate to loving your club. I fully agree with the sentiment but what will a protest achieve? He won't change and it won't get us sold. All well and good making our voices heard, but nothing would come of it.

I imagine we simply got involved at too late a stage, when he was already set on a move to Fulham. Precisely, should have done long before today. If we were properly in for him, simply making the offer 48 hours ago would quite possible have netted us our man. Hijacking a deal at such a late stage was never going to work in our favour and as said, maybe our lot knew that.

Would have taken Bendtner on loan tbh. They've got him and Gyan as proven (if not that great, and off form) Prem strikers. With the Korean guy and Wickham as the younger strikers with potential. I absolutely am jealous of them.

And yeah that team looks alright on paper Deano but it's reliant on four unproven players in this league and Ba being fit. We simply had to bring in another striker. I was even desperate for one last summer as I was worried about us relying too much on Carroll (as it turns out, Nolan nullified such worries).

Let's forget about agent fees and boreholes etc, with reference to the first quote in the opening post. We've got £34,700,000 that has not been spent on the team.
