If you define "old" as someone who is three and a bit years your senior, then yes. -

Oh, you're back. Funny timing - it's as if you only post when we're doing badly. -

I really do think they're happy with midtable. They know we're never going to get in the CL without serious investment, and they don't want to get into the Europa League. -
Alan Pardew - Poltroon sacked by a forrin team

No doubt he's implying we'll continue playing turgid, route one, off the deck football again rather than the semi-attractive passing football of the last few months. On the other hand, we don't have Cabaye any more. Anita is the next best thing but can he really fulfill that role well enough that it dictates how the whole team plays?- 10610 replies

This is the sort of match you'd hope would force the club's hand in to adding a couple of players. Shame then that we're the wrong side of the window closing. -

Pretty much confirms we won't be getting him. Thankful I never let myself get excited about potential incomings any more. http://www.le10sport.com/football/mercato/exclu-mercato-ol-pourquoi-grenier-a-dit-non-a-newcastle134235 Oh well, at least we tried.

I'd like to think we're going to bid again, with a €1-2m increase in our offer. Can't hurt to try. But they won't. Shambles.
-
If we don't sign him because we're not willing to spend an extra £1-2m, I'll be livid. To state the obvious.
-
If we don't get him in Kinnear wants sacking tbh. Not that he should have ever been appointed in the first place, but it'll be two windows he'll have done a woeful job in should we end up on Feb 1st with just De Jong.
-
Apparently we're in for him. I'd be surprised if we actually get him in, but relieved because from what I know he's very much a decent player and a reasonable replacement for Cabaye.

8 clubs have yet to play. So MOTD is on tomorrow for the lot. -
Still excited to see who we replace Cabaye with this window. Who am I kidding...
-
To be fair I did use the word "much", i.e. Sports Direct all over SJP. How much is he taking home directly from the club?
-
Yeah. Guaranteed overhaul in the summer. Not just the stars but players out of contract too. Gutierrez off as well. Like I said, I think the Cabaye fee will cover incomings, since the likes of Coloccini and Cisse sadly won't make much money for us.
-
To be fair I don't think Ashley is gaining much financially out of NUFC. The business model is simply to stay afloat (i.e., stay up). We'll do whatever it takes to preserve our status in the league but unless the team do exceptionally well in spite of Ashley (like they did 2 years ago), we'll never be fighting for anything.
-
The Cabaye fee will cover the next 12 months worth of transfer windows - yes I'm including Jan 2015 in that. We'll lose a few in the summer (contracts ending, loans ending, Coloccini going, Krul might go, Santon might go etc).
-
Going to end the window with a weaker squad again. Fantastic work, boys.
-
We're going to sign noone. The Cardiff player. I'll get me coat.
-
Yup. Wouldn't be surprised. On the other hand, surely they can't be that idiotic, again? Surely it's impossible?
