you could say the same about you choosing viana in the team ahead of speed to back up your point. seem to remember speed starting loads more games than viana in that period. viana was a bench warmer mostly.
-
it would be difficult to leave out dyer, shearer, speed, solano, robert, given, woodgate and bellamy - they would certainly compete for starting positions among the current lot. the backline looks stronger now but i don't think our forward play has been as exciting yet as it was around 2001-2003. we were an exciting and attractive side to watch back then. the current side is built more on solid foundations and hard workign pressing game. not a bad way to go and the tighter defence could mean the current team ends up to be more successful in the long term if the chairman supports the manager. the main difference though is this team hasn't achieved anything yet. they may well go on to be as good or better than the side from the early noughties. but there's still every chance it could go tits up as long as fatty is at the helm. The only ones of the people highlighted who would definitely DESERVE to be in the team I've highlighted. Dyer was excellent when he had a run of 15 games which was hardly EVER, Woodgate see Dyer plus he only came in mid way through 02/03. Shearer and Bellamy, Demba and Cisse, I'd rather have Demba and Cisse. Speed over Tiote?? Nee chance. big shout taking Ba/Cisse ahead of Shearer/Bellas ba looks awesome if he can stay fit, but his knee could explode at any time (allegedly). cisse looks an exciting prospect but he's done nowt in this league so far. you could turn out to be right but as things stand, i'd take shearer and bellas. they were a class partnership. bellas scared the shit out of defences and his running made the room for shearer to bang in loads of goals.

yup, the very same team that chalked up three top 5 finishes and progressed to the second stage of the champions league with shearer and bellamy up front and speed, solano and robert in midfield. this side is looking promising but it's only promise at the moment. it hasn't achieved anything yet. that's not saying it won't go on to do better than robson's side but at the moment that isn't the case. and before we get too excited, there's still every chance fatty sells some key players before the month's out. i agree though, the foundations are there. it's the first time i've been excited by the potential of the side for some time.
-
nah, not as good as robson's team yet.

Furry muff mate, whatever you say. I prefer to mix it up and use it in place of therefore on occassion. If I use thus or hence will your evaluation of me improve? Moreover is another belter like.

Strauss goes cheaply second time around. Not the skippers innings that was needed

Anyone who uses the word ergo is a pretentious moron

I do. Doesn't stop the cunt dominating countless threads with the same old shite though does it. It's hard to ignore those quote pyramids. Any way those can be blocked by the ignore tool too? -

i like your optimism. the cynic in me is forcing me not to get too excited just yet. i'll be more likely to agree with that if we make it through till the end of the month without selling a key player. the manner in which we sold carroll is still fresh in the mind... -
good post by the grey man

Buzzzzzzzzzzzing!!!!!!!! Think someones slipped me something!

Funny how this wasn't trailed at all. Media kept in the dark till a few hours before the deal was completed. Its always those long running sagas that end in disappointment. This is exactly the way to do business

Cisse is an exciting signing but lets not get too carried away just yet. I'll agree it's a statement of intent and perhaps a policy shift if we get to February 1 without losing Colo or Tiote. -
Fucking hell, how did that David Craig ever get a job in TV? Proverbial face for radio and a grating voice to go with it
-
Only thing looking better than this deal is Olivia Godfrey on SSN.
-
Fucking mint. Good on him for taking the shirt too. Obviously a confident lad.

Cock off bambaclat, stick to goading an old man, it's an easier target for you. didn't you say you would adopt the forum policeman role when people are misposted etc .? Do you think I give a toss what the grey man thinks too Course I will, and I think you'll see I have defended your position once or twice. However, you've not stopped falsely attributing positions to people. You still claim people are pro-Ashley, when in fact (as has been proven by a poll) the overwhelming majority are vehemently 'anti-Ashley'. Stop doing this and people wouldn't be so quick to dismiss your diatribes. Oh and don't say you don't care what Manc-mag says, if you werent bothered by him you'd not mention him in threads where he's not posted, nor would you reply to his every contribution. I reply because he has absolutely nothing to say, and I feel sorry for him because he thinks he's a smart arse and won't admit he's disagreed with me for years despite everything I said would happen, is now happening. I understand it isn't quite clear to some chumps but don't think he's that stupid, he's also obsessed with me. People ARE pro-Ashley, whether you like it or not. I'm only giving my judgement anyway on the future of the club and the setup of the club, and I'm 100% correct too. ....he also happens to be obsessed with me. He replies to me even though I've got him on ignore if the quote pyramids are anything to go by. Ditto. I kind of feel a bit sorry for him. I wonder what pleasure he gets posting the same bile here very day when it's clear as day no one is interested. Not a happy home life I reckon. It won't be long before half the board have him on ignore. Shame. He wasn't always such a crushing bore. -
Got to confess to not knowing much about this lad but the reports sound promising. Nice to see some early investment and at least some of the Carroll money going back into the playing staff. I hope this signals a policy shift from Ashley and he doesn't revert to type. I'm not holding my breath just yet.

well that was fucking shit.
