  1. If he doesn't sell up & sod off this time i doubt he'll ever go to be honest the future of the club hinges on this if Ashley stays i can't see Rafa sticking around very long as he knows he'll never get the funding from Ashley to be able to build the team he wants. So in turn if Rafa goes we end up with someone similar to Pardew, McClaren, Carver thats why an awful lot hinges on the club being sold now.
  2. Watching Terminator 2 again for the umpteenth time & even now it really is a spectacular film
  3. I'm not sure whats happened between him & Rafa Noelie but i can't see it happening in fact i think Mitro will be sold in January
  4. Here's another one that i swear happened but i cant find anything in the archives it would be about Eldon Square had just opened it was either a league or fa cup home tie us v Ipswich Town. We woke up to a freezing day thick frost & fog there were matches being called off up & down the country due to the weather me & my mate sat listening to the radio as there was to be a pitch inspection anyway the inspection was passed we got to the ground late & took our place in the Gallowgate it was freezing the pitch looked solid in fact you could just see the white lines were they'd cleared the frost the fog was hanging over SJP anyway the match kicked off & we went 1-0 up after about 20 minutes the place went wild towards halftime the fog seemed to drop on SJP & it was getting hard to see the player & the ball. Halftime came the players went off then about 2 minutes later the announcement came over the tannoy the match was abandoned there was hell on we started to make our way out the ground down Westgate Rd towards the Central Station Skinheads were kindly booting peoples car doors in you could hear the sound of shop windows being broken. We made it to the station needing to get home to Felling the police wouldnt let us in the station. So we had to walk over to Worswick St bus station over the other side of town only to find the buses had been stopped we we proceede to walk over the Tyne Bridge home. When i got in mam & dad had been worried because the bother had made the news with shoppers being locked inside Eldon Square for their own safet On reflection the match should never have been started as the pitch looked shocking and even the steps on the Gallowgate were like death traps there's another memory that did happen although i may have the just done some digging it was a league game not a cup game http://www.footballsite.co.uk/Statistics/LeagueTables/Season1976-77/ClubResults/1976-77NewcastleUnited.html
  5. Some great memories lads keep them coming
  6. I nearly forgot the Nut Man at SJP this was a guy who walked around the perimeter of the pitch before kick off selling bags of monkey nuts does anyone else remember him ?
  7. Living down in Lancashire in the 60's i remember being taken by my dad & my uncle to most of Evertons home games in the 69/70 season i was 9 it was the year Everton won the 1st Division trophy they had a great team that included Gordon West, Howard Kendall, Brian Le Bone, Clin Harvey, Joe Royle & Alan Ball. All that season we managed to get 3 seats together but on the night they were awaded the trophy the ground was jam packed & i had to go in the "kids pen" baically a big cage so you didnt get crushed in the corner of the Gladys Street end while my dad & uncle tried to get in were they could. My first Newcastle United memory was the 1975 derby game against Middlesborough i was 15/16 we won 1-0 Supermac scored the winner. St James Park was a bit of a mythical place to me as i'd only ever seen pictures in football books. I was living in Felling at the time & my new school friends asked if i fancied going to the match with them they got me a ticket saturday came we got the train from Felling to Central Station the first thing that hit me when we walked out the Central Station was the smell of the brewery we walked up some side streets & went to a chippy for fishcake & chips then we walked up to the ground i was a little underwhelmed as we walked from the Gallowgate to the Leazes End as from what i could see SJP was a big grey corrugated shed we got searched on the way in but once we were inside it was magical. We made our way to the far left hand corner of the Leazes End i stood there with a big grin on my face it may not have looked anything from the outside but it was fantastic inside as i say we won the game 1-0 on the way back to the train we got a hot dog & that was it i was hooked i used to go to all the home games with a similar routine if we didnt have time for the chippy it was a bovril & pie from the little kiosk in the Leazes End but you had to be quick the pies sold out very quickly. Anyways there's a couple of my memories lets hear yours
  8. Could be out for a further 2 months as he has a back vertabrae problem
  9. Yeah i'd add Hughton to the list of good guys
  10. Of course a lot will depend on the January window if we're sold by then from what we've heard funds will be available. If not & Ashley's still here will he gamble again regarding transfer funds. Or will he have to buy to ensure premiership safety thus making the club more sellable
  11. He is a good manager but he can only do what he can do with what he's got he knows as well as we do this team is a slightly upgraded championship team . I can see the lack of goals really hurting us over the next few games
  12. I reckon after the next 4/5 games we'll have a true reflection of were we're really at.
  13. My mate is raging - he left his car parked in a back alley for less than one hour, his Sunderland season ticket was on the passenger seat - some evil scumbag has broke in to the car and left another 2 there !
  14. Remember Rafa saying "he was buying what he needed not who he wanted" if we're taken over by then hopefully he can get who he wants.
  15. I think they'll probably put Gayle back up if Ashley's still in charge as i dont think he's 100%. Of course if we're bought we should be ok funds wise. Just if Ashley's still here i can see Rafa having to sell to buy.
  16. Whoever it is it must be a priority
  17. Wether Ashley stays or sells up whoever's in chatge in the January window we MUST sign a proven premiership striker. That must be priority over everything else without the striker we're going to be in big trouble. Yes we can contain teams but we're going to need a proper goalscorer it's no good containing if we've no fire power up front. We all know the old cliche "goals win games" and thats what we need. Through out NUFC's history we've always had a good goalscorer Milburn, McDonald, Cole Ferdinand, Shearer etc thats what we need now .
  18. What do you mean ? If you mean im jammy because i had a stroke thats left me paralysed all down my left side making me unable to walk dress myself shower or go to the toilet myself then yeah what a jammy git i must be thanks you utter shithouse
