Rangers surrender to Mike Ashley7 mins ago by Jackie Smithfield The probably inevitable outcome has come to pass, Rangers have today fallen under the control of Mike Ashley. The Glasgow club turned down a last minute emergency loan of £3m from the owner of Sale Sharks rugby team, Brian Kennedy. With the other competitor Dave King having departed without getting anywhere, it means that Rangers fans are facing a future with Mike Ashley. Only a few weeks ago Ashley refused to put any money into a rights issue to help pay bills, though then bought shares privately from another shareholder, but now has had his initial offer of a £2m instant loan accepted by the Rangers board. Already controlling the club’s retail division of the club and famously buying the naming rights for a pound, now this morning the Press Association report that the Directors voted to accept Mike Ashley’s loan and everything that goes with that. The writing was on the wall yesterday when Finance Director Phil Nash resigned, he being one of the two Directors Ashley had intended to force out via a special shareholders meeting. The Press Association saying that their sources reported that Mike Ashley was ‘keen to increase his involvement at Rangers’. Recently, Newcastle United bizarrely stated on Ashley’s behalf that he would be at United until at least the end of the 2015/16 season. Many observers taking that to mean he intends to sell Newcastle then – as ever with Mike Ashley though, we have come to expect the unexpected, sadly.

Chris McLaughlin @BBCchrismclaug The #Rangers board have voted to accept Mike Ashley's funding package. The deal will lead to chief exec Graham Wallace standing down.

Imagine what kind of return they must get for that outlay it must be worth it.

Maybe's we're looking in the wrong direction altogether. While we've been looking at Newcastle & Rangers Ashley moved in very stealthily via SD on Oldham Athletic. Who with the right financial backing could potentially be a Premiership team in 2 seasons. Could that be the reason the club was so specific about Ashley not selling up for 2 seasons ? Who knows what his long term plans are but It may not be with Rangers or Newcastle it may well be with Oldham. Their ground is now called SportsDirect.com Park. SD own the club shop, the shirts are made by Sondico another of Ashley's companies & the shirts have the SD logo right in the middle. I might be a million miles wrong but Oldham might be worth keeping an eye on.

Yet NUFC are at the tail end of the Premiership being run on a shoestring while he's raking it in via the free advertising one word, sickening.
-
Having chased Kevin Keegan out of the club in 2008, Mike Ashley said "Don't get me wrong. I did not buy Newcastle to make money. I bought Newcastle because I love football" Sorry to nick this from you Chris it just caught my eye.

Alan Pardew - Poltroon sacked by a forrin team

“We went to Spurs last season and put in a fantastic performance and we will go back there with good memories.” the previous four visits read 1-2, 0-5, 0-2, 0-1. “We go to Spurs and have to be disciplined and offer a fret, it is about trying to attack the game and get a win. “I can feel a little bit more confidence in and around the camp but we have to improve results, full stop, going forward.”] This from Pardews Spurs press conference.- 10610 replies

@@Happy Face do you have any figures to show how much money SD were making before Ashley bought us and the 7 seasons since ?
-
Just watched Northern Soul it was ok not my kind of music but it re-created the era very well yeah it was ok.
-
After seeing those figures from HF I think I'd like to retract my thinking that he's done with us. It is all about making money from the club nothing else the footballs just an inconvenience he has to put up with.
-
All that come out of that for me was a top ten finish will be ok again and dont hold your breath about spending in January. Not one question about Pardew's appalling record and why Ashley continues to stick with him. Charnley and co must have been pissing themselves laughing when "the fans" left without asking any difficult questions.
-
Why didn't they ask had there been an altercation between Ben Arfa & Pardew & if that was the real reason he'd been loaned out to Hull.
-
VV: "Are the club looking to buy a centre forward in January?" It was stated that the club had brought in nine players in the previous window in order to take the team forward and that additional attacking players had been pursued. The club are continuing to look at potential targets but stressed no guarantee could be made in reference to January.

The clubs a shadow of its former self in the 2005/06 season the birth of Toontastic Newcastle United finished 7th in the Premiership Reached the 6th round of the FA Cup Reached the 4th round of the league cup Reached the semi final of the Intertoto Cup

The Everton home game is game 19, after game 19 in the relegation season we were 12th with 22 points I find it hard to believe we can pick up 15 points in the next 11 games just to match that I really think we're in trouble this season.
-
I hope your right mate.
-
Spurs (a) Liverpool (h) West Brom(a) QPR (h) West Ham (a) Burnley (a) Chelsea (h) Arsenal (a) Sunderland (h) Man Utd (a) Everton (h) These are our Premiership fixtures up until the window opens again. There's not many points for us there unless we have some remarkable turn round in form.
-
January may come too late with our current points tally and the games we have coming up. We could be at the point of no return regarding relegation by the time the window opens.
-
I'm not sure he would have been making the profits he's making now.
-
If we get relegated he'll be gone he wont get his worldwide free advertising in the Championship. Plus he'll have payback for "the walkout" "YFCB get out of our club" and leaving us in the Championship.
