Monday afternoon saw Senegal beat Ghana in their opening African Nations fixture but Papiss Cisse was watching from the bench, contemplating a reported £150,000 a week offer from Chinese club, Shanghai SIPG. A late goal from Moussa Sow gave Cisse’s country a win in their first group match but the Newcastle striker had the full 90 minutes to consider his options at club level. Following Swansea interest after the sale of Wilfried Bony and Bafetmbi Gomis saying he may be on the move, The Times have reported that Shanghai SIPG are prepared to offer £8m for Papiss Cisse and pay him that £150,000 weekly wage to tempt him to move to China. The newspaper reports that this would be five times his Newcastle wage. Sven Goran Eriksson is the Chinese club’s manager and if Mike Ashley doesn’t shift Cisse now, he will be left in the summer with a thirty year old striker who has only 12 months left on his contract. Hard to imagine the Newcastle owner knocking back any £5m+ offer if he believes United are all but safe already from relegation. Alan Pardew regularly gave the excuse of worries about Papiss Cisse’s knee operation recovery as the reason for not playing him this season, whether that will hamper any potential medical remains to be seen.

Aye it's time to restart the Ashley out campaign he really is the problem. Garde or whoever comes in might be able to guide the team to avoid relegation this season. With a new manager/headcoach or whatever coming in you would expect the slate wiped clean a fresh start but unfortunately with Ashley it wont be long until it's the same old story. This Newcastle United Football Club is a mere shadow of its former self yes we've been lower in the leagues etc but never has the club been this low.

Newcastle United are facing frustration in their search for a new manager. The Sunday Mirror says chief scout Graham Carr and managing director Lee Charnley - who have the responsibility of finding the new man - are discovering that candidates such as ex-Lyon boss Remi Garde and St Etienne’s Christophe Galtier would prefer to wait until the summer – as would Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Lucien Favre. Garde told them that he would want to bring his whole coaching staff from Lyon with him, and this would not be possible until the summer. The Newcastle power-brokers were happy at this – but 48-year-old former Arsenalmidfielder Garde is still not ready to end the break from football that he promised himself when he left Lyon.

Maybe that was the reward for an early exit from the F.A. Cup.
-
Nice week in Dubai for Carver & the players now seeing as there's no daft F.A. Cup tie next weekend to worry about.
-
If we'd had a proper centre forward we'd have won today its pretty pointless having all that possession and crossing the ball in if there's nobody there to knock them in. Whoever gets the gig if it's Carver or A.N. Other with out that elusive striker we're going to be in trouble we can't afford to keep losing at home it's going to be very costly come the end of the season.

I thought there was a banning of the local press just Carver seems to have plenty to say since Pardew buggered off.

i concur

Don't forget he just about owns Oldham Athletic via SD the club shop, ground name, club shirts. It's very strange for him to invest in a mid table league 1 team i wouldn't have thought there's much return for him there.
-
I'm in favour of anything that speeds up the process of him selling Newcastle United if this is it let him crack on.
-
Apparently Borussia Dortmund, Schalke,Arsenal & Palace are all interested as well.
-
Dont be suckered in it's Ashley we're talking about.

John Carver announced at today’s Southampton pre-match press conference that the search for a new manager/head coach is ‘well under way’ and the appointment could be made by time the Hull match comes around. We play Hull on January 31st the window closes 2nd February forget about the transfer window.

Just been reading they need another loan instantly otherwise they wont be able to pay wages next week
-
Tanks on the lawn, i think if i've picked this up right Ashley has given Rangers a big loan, if they can't afford to pay it back (which seems ulikely given their financial state) Ashley will become the new owner of Rangers. Then hopefully he'll have to sell Newcastle United i know it's more complicated than that but that's how i've picked it up. Having said that i'm probably a million miles wrong.

Carver's odds are at 2/1 today it's looking grim.

Mike Ashley reveals intention to take out security over Rangers’ Ibrox home 29 mins ago by Jackie Smithfield It has been revealed this morning that Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has posted his intent to take out security over Ibrox, the home of Rangers. The ‘notice of intention’ to take out security has been posted by Mike Ashley under the Sports Direct mantle. STV have reported that they have seen the relevant documents which show that Ashley/Sports Direct intend to add their name to the title deed of the ground. The Newcastle United owner has five weeks to complete the application but this is seen as a clear sign that Mike Ashley will provide a further loan to keep Rangers trading, the Glasgow club having already said that they don’t even have enough cash to see out January. In recent days Rangers turned down a package of around £20m from USA based Robert Sarver, stating it wasn’t a high enough offer. If Mike Ashley does indeed take up security of Ibrox in return for a loan then it will be something nobody else has managed, as a contingent liability was detailed in the club’s accounts relating to claims by Craig Whyte that he was the legal owner of Ibrox. Also, by lodging this document, if any other party came forward to provide funding they couldn’t secure the loan against Ibrox, because Mike Ashley’s notice of intention takes precedence. As Newcastle fans we continue to wonder what Mike Ashley has planned for both Rangers and especially Newcastle United. The fact he is clearly not giving up his Rangers involvement easily suggests that his hold over the Glasgow club will be ongoing but how will that impact on United?

Yeah i'd love to see Palace sod off.

Is the right answer & it's looking more and more like he could get it.
