The transfer window opens in 3 days. Also the new season starts in 50 days ( 7 weeks tomorrow) Yet we've still no idea if it'll be an Ashley/Bruce set up. Or the Saudi's & A.N. Other set up. Absolutely shambolic. Never mind you can console yourself with a new Puma shirt sponsored by fun88 for £65 -

Bruce said: "As soon as the window opens, we’ll go to work. Things are not on hold. "We need that (takeover) decision to be made, but the only thing I can do, along with Lee (Charnley, Newcastle’s managing director), is to keep planning as best we can, and that obviously includes the transfer market. "I think, even without the takeover, a lot of clubs will be taking stock of the situation." -

NUFC 360 #NUFC scouts have been told to plan for life without a Saudi takeover as an audacious loan move for Real Madrid misfit Luka Jovic is weighed up. United's scouting department are assessing the struggling Serbian, as they look to inject goals into the side. -

This is journalist Duncan Castles' take: "For a long time now the buying party was expecting a decision imminently. Obviously that didn't come. I've been talking to someone involved in the process and the guidance is quite interesting. I would say that there's a sense that there's more doubt about the takeover going through than there has been previously. I'm not saying they don't expect it to happen or that they're not confident about it but previously their attitude has been 'I don't see a way that the Premier League can deny us the rights to takeover this club'. (They said) we believe we have done all the right things and our financial plans are sufficient. They do not believe that if the approval does not come through it will be over piracy or human rights issues, which have been the two most prominent matters raised by opponents of the takeover. Questons over piracy have been answered for a month. They feel they have answered questions in a way that should allow the deal to be approved. They would expect an answer from the Premier League on the approval soon because they cannot see any other areas where they can be questioned on" -

"Newcastle United's sponsorship deal with Fun88 makes "no sense", according to a gambling industry expert. The Magpies announced an extension with the Asian betting firm on Monday as the club's current hierarchy continued their approach of "business as usual" while the proposed buy-out fails to reach a resolution. The Fun88 deal had been worked on since the turn of the year but an announcement was made as the club prepare to unveil new home shirts in time for the end of the season. It's understood the deal is worth in the region of £6m-a-year to the club - similar terms to the 2017 deal. But the Fun88 extension arrives at a time when the Government is considering possible laws curbing online gambling. -
Steve Bruce: “The one thing you can’t deny about this group is their ability to roll their sleeves up and have a go. “We played two full backs as centre backs today and I was delighted with their application and attitude. “I thought if anyone was going to win it in the second half it was us. “When you see Andy Carroll head and shoulders above their defenders you think it’s a classic Andy goal. He’s disappointed because it had goal written all over it but it wasn’t to be. “Emil Krafth has a really sore ankle. “He’s done well to carry on. He epitomised the spirit of all of them today. “It wasn’t a classic, don’t get me wrong. “However it was important that we put a point on the board. “Fair play to everyone that worked tirelessly to get the games on and get the season finished. “However it’s been a long, long year and we’ll have played ten games in 35 days which is a huge ask. “We haven’t got the ability to rotate so all in all the players have done well.”

But turn it round if they'd wanted to pass it, it could have happened weeks ago. I'm like everyone I havent a bloody clue what's going on. But linking things together it's not looking very clever really. -

I understand the club must proceed. But last week people were saying the Saudis have probably quietly identified the new manager & potential new signings. So I doubt we'd have been short of players if this takeover was imminent. Plus Carroll's hardly set the place on fire since his return. As for the sponsorship its reportedly one of the worst in the league why bother extending it.I want rid of Ashley as much as anybody but I can see him being here for next season with this lot happening -

It's the end of the season now with just 2 games left. The signs are there wont be a takeover. Andy Carroll 's 1 year extension, Manquillo's new 4 year contract. Bruce talking about his budget for next season. The extensions for fun88 & Puma. It all looks a bit ominous regarding a S.A. takeover. -

Doesnt look like he's thinking of going anywhere soon The Mirror quoting Steve Bruce: “I would envisage our budget is not going to be as big as what it was going to be in January before all this started. “There are big discussions to be had but we are still always trying to go and find another player or two or three or four. “That’s always going to be my job, will knock on and break down the door because my job is to make sure we are competitive when we start up again. “It’s a difficult league and just spending money doesn’t guarantee you anything…it’s vitally important that we keep working on that and trying to find a new Allan [Saint-Maximin] or new Almiron, that’s the key to it, the success of bringing people in who improve you.” -

Better hurry up & decide what's happening The dates for the Premier League summer transfer window have been released and it will run for 10 weeks from July 27. The season in England’s top flight will have come to an end by then, and the window will shut on October 5 later this year. -

This from The Mag The Newcastle United takeover has been brought into sharp focus as the Premier League plan ahead. The announcement of a date for the start of the 2020/21 has been delayed and instead will be made public after a meeting of the 20 PL clubs on Friday 24 July. However, BBC Sport report that they understand that Saturday 12 September will be the date then announced, as to when the 2020/21 season will kick off. As expected, a far shorter break between seasons than normal, with only 48 days from when Newcastle face Liverpool on the final day of this current campaign. For the Newcastle United takeover, it means the prospective new owners are seeing the clock rapidly run down in terms of preparing for that new season, only 64 days until what would be their first campaign in control would kick off. To put that into perspective, the NUFC takeover was passed to the Premier League 92 days ago, on 9 April. The thought of Mike Ashley still being owner when next season starts if something that doesn’t bear thinking about but it is totally unacceptable the way the Premier League are dragging out the takeover approval, ensuring that if / when the Saudis do buy the club, they will be faced with a chaotic situation. Which just maybe is part of why the Premier League are delaying. The lower leagues are believed to be set to start their season in August and also the League Cup to begin. However, as to whether the PL clubs will take part in that competition this season remains to be seen, that decision also will be confirmed after that meeting on 24 July at the very latest For those involved in the Newcastle United takeover, an even more pressing date is coming in fast. As well as a new manager, a sizeable overhaul of the NUFC playing squad will be needed. An announcement of summer transfer window dates has also been delayed until after that PL clubs meeting on Friday 24 July. It is expected that the window will immediately open on Sunday 26 July once the current season ends, with only 16 days to go until transfers can be completed. That window will run through into a yet to be confirmed date in October. However, the thought of new owners having to do their main transfer business AFTER the 2020/21 season has kicked off, would be far from ideal. -
