Should Dyer be considered a regular starter?
shakermaker replied to Django Reinhardt's topic in Newcastle Forum
I'd like to see an answer to this. 59794 haven't we been here before.......your rating of the 3rd,4th,5th placed teams is a lot higher than mine.yes last season was shocking but a follow on from the performances of the previous season, lots needed changed(remember wolves, southampton etc ??) someone mentioned about when we finished 3rd,4th,5th we were underperforming ????? as a club maybe for the size we are,but as a team, group of players, they over achieved.yes leazes mag, this is all in hindsight, but hindsight is so you can look at what happened. as for the 50mill...when they play i'll judge him! 59882 we were 4th, 3rd and 5th before when they WEREN'T playing ......... [maybe this point will get through eventually ....... ] 59885 it's got little to do with before they werent playing and everything to do with what was there when they werent (does that make sense?? ) even though the personnel were the same it wasn't "the same" squad who reached 3rd and 4th.thats what ferguson realised after their first double,it wasnt right and needed changed,in nufc's case i agree..wether souness has got it right i'll only be able to tell you after he's been able to play a close to full strength team for a few games....you wont even allow him that. -
But Bramble is our last line, Nobby was well into their half of the field, you said it yourself and trying to start an attack. Fuck me shaker, after seeing what bramble and boumsong did with the ball for most of the game I can understnd why Nobby was reluctant to pass the ball backwards. As a players you have to have confidence in your team mates to pass to them and I highly doubt our central defensive pair are doing that in their team mates at the moment. Honest question: Weren't you one of the people on another board that always put shite on Nobby and supported his sale? I just seem to remember someone with a similar username from the states that wasn't a fan of him. 59884 they both gave the ball away in similar positions, regardless of one being a midfielder, also he didnt seem about to start an attack, and the idea he was reluctant to pass backwards cos of the centre halves form is laughable....just admit it,solano dropped as big a bollix as bramble but you wont treet them equally. honest answer...when solano left i wasnt bothered as hed been playing poor for us for best part of a season,i'm also on record as saying we undersold him and that if he'd played for us in that season the way he played for villa i wouldnt have been happy with his sale,i havent had a go at him since he came back even though he's been at best average as i think players need to play their way into a new team(we'll see if luque gets this privelage).

"I also admit when I am wrong. I also make judgements, and stick by them. " does that mean you'll stick by it if you admit your wrong ? -

See you've now seen it, haven't you? Yes Nobby lost the ball, no disbutes there but he was looking for someone and as was the team for most of the game, no-one made themselves available. Now what happens in the box just before the goal? Watch the reverse angle replay, it is obvious. 59279 yes i watched it again and he gives the ball up easy as did bramble, bramble was attempting to pass aswell(god knows who to!!),he done exactly the same as solano ,but they aren't tret the same...why ? also better keep the ball,go backwards if necessary and wait for movement than lose it while waiting,it's called keeping possession.

And the other half of the world is still shaking their heads that Liverpool finished 4th that season and then went on to be European champions! Mute point really as it applies to many teams, whereas we had a history the previous two seasons. 59275 be honest though, only in the season we finished 3rd were we really good enough to be there, like i said about the season we finished 4th,wasn't good, maybe the slide started then ??? -
Agreed and losing the ball in the oppositions half with more defenders than the oppositions attackers behind you doesn't constitute fault in my opinion. And here in lies where we differ in footballing opinions. 59274 you see this is where we come to scapegoating again...where does gudjonsson recieve the ball off bramble, about 8yds in the chelsea half ??? how many toon players between him and the goal, now turn it round, where does lampard get the ball off solano about 5yds further back in a very similar position .in both occasions there were technically more defenders thatn attackers between ball and goal and thats where we differ, you call it maths i call it football. brambles is worse,no doubt, but theres not a great deal in it. be brave say they were both as bad as each other 59276 just re-watched it and 8 yds is a bit much, though the distance doesnt really matter both gave it away pointlessly around the half way line with similar amounts of defenders between the ball and goal.

nope,i've already said the first one is totally brambles, but blame should be apportioned wher it is due.

take a look at our performances since new year 2 seasons ago, they nose dived, yes we finished 5th(even when we finished 4th we weren't convincing, though saying that is very much in hindsight, just that we werent playing anywher near aswell as the season before) how good did you think everton were last year?? a quality 4th placed team or a team lucky to be where they were who you couldnt understand how they were there....thats how many non-nufc thought about us the season we finished 5th(just) given 50mill i'd have liked him to improved the defence,it didnt seem so much a necessity after bramble and boumsong played well together last season,in reality now i'll reckon he's lokking all over for a qulaity centre half. -
You think? Pass the ball backwards? that's what the team did for about 80% of the game, we were in their half and attacking. Shakermaker, I'm not picking on him because he is shit but because he played like shit and made two major errors. Ramage was actually covering whoever it was that was coming down the wing, Bramble didn't go to the ball, he didn't go to the unmarked man that was next to him when he was being directed - watch the game again if you don't believe me. As for the bit in bold, get a grip. I call it as I see it. No-one is a scapegoat in my opinion but those that fuck up will be told they fucked up. 59264 bramble headed back to cover, right thing to do,would you rather he just ran to a man and tried to stick with him 40yds out ?ramage was first to crespo, good work!,neither got a tackle or block in,poor by both, now go back and look at where and how solano lost the ball !!!!
-
well i'm not in favour of the death penalty, but let life inside mean life inside. (anyway, couldn't be racial cos some peeps on here tell me coloured people could never get done for that sort of thing)
-
It was in their half for fuck sake! And Nobby was looking for someone to pass forwards to instead of doing what his team-mates were doing and constantly passing the ball back to Shay! he may have lost the ball but we had at least 5 people behind the ball and yet Bramble still couldn't pick up his man. 58344 it was given to a chelsea player(lampard i think) in the same area where gudjonssen picked up brambles shit pass.and in both cases there were as many behind the ball,as if that matters.brambles was a shit aimless pass, solano's was to run aimlessly into trouble while his head was up and he saw what was coming, passing back would have made sense!!!!! as for bramble picking up his man, wasnt ramage closest and went to crespo,do you want bramble to pick him up and throw him out the way shouting "he's my man" ?,poor defending by both but why do you lay the blame one way. it must be funny to watch a match making your decisions on "unlucky"/"shit pass" by who plays it depending on wether it's a scapegoat or a fave.

indeed, and it renders the words of those who defend Souness, and Souness himself, for complaining about a thin squad as pretty much meaningless ... 59202 tis pointless having a big squad if it contains poor players and then its hard to have a big squad full of quality, even at chelsea they are starting to kick up!! take chelsea out and name some other prem teams who'd cope well with 5 or 6 first teamers out ? -

Flawed argument tbh. Are you suggesting that because a player doesn't settle at another club, so doesn't play well, that he must have been shite for his previous club? 59070 wasn't shite for his previous club but his performances since the season we finished 3rd marked him down as a position to improve on sooner rather than later.maybe a mistake to sell him because of his adaptability, certainly at that price! but he was one who had the crowd on his side mostly, maybe now we can view him from a neutral viewpoint neutral and get a better idea what he's about. would hughes still being here have allowed taylor to come through or even ramage(who i have to say thought was ok defensivly but use of the ball was poor and hurried, but in the chelsea game seemed cool on the ball and esp in their half was quite creative) -
and nobody mentions the way solano gave away the ball for the 2nd goal...i wonder why ?
-
now now htl,you know souness didnt see bellamy as a right winger, but played him there out of what he thought was necessity(ie we had no right sided players left,or up to it) is luque better than robert on the left,or if he plays up front, bellamy ?...who knows, pretty sure i couldnt have told you wether robert or bellamy were improvments on whom they replaced after 2 games,,,although i do remember a lot of people mentioning ketsbaia in relation to bellamys first couple of games.

memeber of both,i use N-O more because it's quicker, that one has more kids on,but this one is more klicky(didnt this one split away cos you all wanted to be together again?)and even SMB doesn't seem as good as it was. maybe football forums, like lad mags and rear spoilers,CB radios and flares, have had their day ?
